Long Feng dragged his tattered figure and slowly walked deeper into the forest. Naturally, the both armies didn't try to stop him, as in their perspective, he was simply worsening his situation by heading deeper into the forest.
"Keep an eye on that brat!" The burly yin monarch gave Long Feng a second glance as he ordered a high rank yin soldier using his divine sense, after which he focused on his fight. Long Feng didn't know how long he had walked for, because his conciousness was getting blurry. He could barely see where he was going. All he knew was that he was no longer surrounded by Yin ghosts and humans in all sides.
He was at the very center of the yin ghosts forest, where the ghost energy was so dense that even a Dao realm master wouldn't be able to see far away. The deeper he walked, the denser the ghost energy around him. Suddenly, he was startled back to his senses by a powerful aura not far from him. But this aura didn't give off any feeling of life, so he staggered over. Soon, he paused with a shocked expression on his face. Right before him was a chain which was as thick as a grown man's arm!
Countless divine runes flickered on the chain as it exuded an ancient aura. It seemed to extend from the very center of the forest and vanished into space as though it didn't exist. The profound aura it emanated also made it apparent that this chain was far from being ordinary.
"This chain… why do I feel like it is a formation?" Long Feng muttered.
"Forget it. I will naturally know what it is if I go further" After all, he couldn't return back even if he wanted to do so. He would rather face this unknown object than to return and be suppressed by those unfathomable figures. He increased his pace and walked along the path where the divine chains led to. Soon, he paused in shock. Not far from him was another divine chain. If not for the one beside him, he would think that it was actually the same chain.
"There's another one. Could they be more than one? It would make more sense if the chains all meet in the center, which means I will eventually see all of them" Long Feng was beginning to feel some anticipation of what was in the very center of the forest, which was a secret unknown even to the four dynasties. He really hoped he could find something useful there, though it was very unlikely to happen. He once again increased his pace and walked along with hurried footsteps.
After what seemed to be an hour, he reached an area where the ghost energy was so dense that he could barely see what was in front of him. Nevertheless, he could feel a huge change in the surrounding ghost energy which signified that he was very close to the center. A few minutes later, Long Feng paused and stared at the area in front of him with an incredulous look. Right in front of him was what seemed like a huge coffin large enough to hold five adults!
The coffin was pitch black and was covered in runes which flickered occasionally, spreading an awesome inspiring aura into the surroundings. The coffin was held in midair by nine divine chains in different directions, looking like a huge sealing formation. This thought startled Long Feng.
"A sealing formation? This is the secret of the yin ghosts? What are they sealing?" He could sense a faint soul power fluctuation from these chains, which made him sure that they were formations. The question was, what was this formation sealing?
"Brother Long Feng!" Hua Liuli's voice startled Long Feng out of his thoughts. He hurriedly projected his soul power into the origin spirit palace.
"What happened…" he paused when his gaze drifted to Li Yue'er. Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings. Her skin was completely covered by black veins and her eyes were completely pitch black without any sign of white. One without any knowledge of what was happening would think she had fallen into the demonic path.
"Her life source is vanishing so quickly!" Long Feng exclaimed with dread. This was undoubtedly the worst day of his life. He was suppressed badly and was only a hair's breath away from death. He was trapped in the midst of powerful figures without any hope of escaping, and Li Yue'er's situation was getting worse. He couldn't even think straight anymore.
"L-let me out" Li Yue'er opened her mouth and managed to mutter while enduring the pain she was feeling.
"I already said that we aren't…" Long Feng thought she was asking them to abandon her again and he wanted to refute her when she interrupted him.
"I-i'm not asking you to abandon me or anything. It's that coffin… it seems to have a very close connection with this demon entity" Li Yue'er replied immediately. Ever since she reached the forest depths, she had been feeling a faint summoning feeling from somewhere in the center of the forest, but she ignored it. Now that she was before this mysterious coffin, she felt a close feeling of camaraderie, like she was standing before her relatives or something like that. Long Feng feel silent for a moment.
As much as he didn't want to let her go out, Li Yue'er was their only chance to find a solution out of all these problems.
"The moment something seems wrong, I will bring you back in!" He looked into her black eyes and spoke. Li Yue'er nodded faintly.
"You two wait here" Long Feng said to Yan jian and Hua Liuli and disappeared with Li Yue'er before they could argue. The moment she came out, Li Yue'er staggered and almost fell over. Long Feng immediately supported her.
"Thank you." Her attention was drawn entirely to the huge coffin held up by nine divine chains. Her fragile body seemed to gain new strength as she took a step forward and stretched out her arm to touch the coffin in a daze.
"Li Yue'er?" Long Feng was taken off guard by her sudden action, and before he could react, she had already touched the coffin. The surrounding ghost energy suddenly stilled as a pensive atmosphere filled the air. Long Feng waited cautiously as he felt like a change had occurred, but he couldn't place a finger on what it was. Suddenly, the coffin began to shake fiercely. Several of the runes on the coffin shattered and the chains were also barely holding on to the coffin.
A mysterious aura spread out from the coffin, spreading throughout the forest in an instant. Every yin ghosts suddenly felt the urge to bow to this aura which caught then off guard.
"What the hell?" The burly yin monarch paused as he turned to look back. He suddenly had a bad premonition. *Weng! A pillar of light suddenly erupted from the very center of the forest, the coffin to be specific. This pillar of light was like a divine sword, directly cleaving the dense ghost energy apart as it pierced into the sky while a heart shaking aura spread out and enveloped the forest. The yin monarchs and the eight human masters watched this scene solemnly.
The pillar of light directly suppressed the shaking of the coffin and strengthened the chains holding it up. It slowly faded away after a while, revealing the huge coffin.
"Damn it!" The burly yin monarch cursed as he saw that the ancestor's coffin had been exposed to the humans. All their efforts to conceal the coffin was ruined by a single pillar of light which dispersed the ghost energy. Even now, the ghost energy hadn't begun to spread to this area, making the coffin clearly visible.
"This…is what the yin ghosts have been hiding from us?" The white haired old man retreated with a solemn expression. All of them were powerful figures with great experience and insight, so they were easily able to see that this was a great sealing formation with the entire yin ghost forest as the backdrop and the coffin as the core. But what sort of being needed such a large formation to seal it?
"These damned yin ghosts! We must figure out all we can about this coffin as soon as possible!" The white haired old man spat with a gloomy face.
"Old man Liu, look!" one of the other old human master pointed in shock. The white haired old man also looked over and froze in shock. Right below the huge coffin stood two figures; A young man and a woman. He instantly recognized the young man as the kid who fled into the forest center earlier, and the girl was the one with unknown connection to the Yin ghosts forest. Right now, both of them were covered in the same divine light from the coffin.
Suddenly, the coffin shook ever so slightly as a pitch black portal appeared and sucked those two figures in before they could even struggle. Everyone present, whether they were humans or yin ghosts were stumped by this scene and it showed on their faces. The yin Monarch's expressions were more exaggerated as they shook due to extreme anger.
"The ancestor's coffin opened up! And two humans entered!" One yin monarch muttered in shock. An enraged roar sounded as the burly yin monarch appeared before the coffin and glared at the area where Long Feng and Li Yue'er once stood. He regretted not killing that bastard earlier when he had the chance and he was now paying for that. He wished nothing more than to get his hands on that brat and make him suffer the worst torture in this world! This was the ancestor's coffin!
The most sacred land of the Yin ghosts, yet it was sullied by two human brats!
"They entered the ancestor's coffin!" Some yin soldiers and generals were muttering in shock. It must be known that no one had ever entered the ancestor's coffin, not even the yin monarchs! Everything that happened today suddenly seemed like a bad dream to all of them.
"I swear, I will skin that kid alive. I don't believe that he will remain in there forever. I will make him spill out all that he saw while making him taste the worst torture possible!" The burly yin monarch sat down right there on the floor and closed his eyes patiently.
"Old man Liu, what now?" The white haired old man stared at the coffin with sparkling eyes.
"We wait! We can not allow that kid to fall into their hands. We will use him to unravel the mystery of this coffin and destroy the yin ghosts once and for all!" He replied. This was a great opportunity for them, as it looked like not even the yin ghosts themselves had ever entered this coffin before and this kid had set a precedent. If they could learn about the coffin from him, then the white haired old man wouldn't mind waiting here for even a year or more.
"Find out everything you can about that kid!" He added as a glint flashed through his eyes. He led the other seven old masters to sit down below the coffin silently. The burly yin monarch glanced at them sullenly but didn't speak as he closed his eyes again. In his heart though, he was imagining how he would torture the soul out of that brat.
