"Mostly garbage."
"What is?" Kratos asked, licking the last bit of steak juice off the wooden board.
"Just some skills I picked up," Rudra said. He closed the blue windows and then muttered to himself.
"The skills that I learned there are pretty much unusable for me and the one skill I can use is useless to me. And the weapon and armor blueprints are also useless to me since I can't even use the created item, though the Door blueprint can be used somewhere else I guess. Though the stats gained through learning this is a sweet bonus I guess " Kratos just looked at Rudra quizzically as Rudra mumbles to no one. He kept the door blueprint in his inventory separately.
He figured Silas, his administrator back in Stormbreak, could probably use it to build secure, mana-free vault doors for the city to reduce costs. A blinking red light pulsed aggressively in the top corner of his vision. [You have reached your maximum daily connection limit. Please log out to rest.] Rudra let out a long, heavy breath. He dusted the damp sand off his black trench coat. He tapped his cauldron, shrinking it back into a heavy metal block, and shoved it casually into his bag.
"I'm full," Rudra told Thalassa and Neria.
"And I need to get some rest. Plus, I'm almost completely out of basic spices. I'll be back in a few hours." He hit the logout button. The salty ocean breeze and the crashing waves of the archipelago instantly faded to black. The VR capsule hissed as the glass lid slid open. Rudra sat up and stretched his arms over his head, hearing his shoulders pop satisfyingly. His actual stomach gave a loud, demanding rumble. He climbed out of the soft gel cushions, threw on a loose grey t-shirt, and walked out of his bedroom.
It was late afternoon in Chennai. The house was quiet. The centralized air conditioner hummed softly overhead. His mom, Meera, was out managing one of her newly renovated restaurants, and his older brother, Shiva, was at the hospital along with his wife. Rudra walked into the kitchen. He opened the fridge and grabbed some leftover chicken curry, a stack of cold parottas, and a bottle of chilled water. He tossed the parottas onto a hot pan, letting them crisp up nicely.
The rich smell hit the air, and his stomach growled again in response. He plated the food and sat at the kitchen island. As he ate, he pulled out his phone and scrolled through the official Satisfy forums. People were still going absolutely crazy over the recent National Competition. Threads were filled with debates about Grid's Control and that he wouldn't be able to maintain this dominance as with 3rd class advancement even normal class players were becoming equal to hidden class users.
"Good," Rudra mumbled around a mouthful of spicy chicken.
"Then the 3rd class advancement should increase my power by 2 to 3 times as well." He finished his food, threw the plate in the sink, and took a long, cold shower and a nap for some time. He felt completely reset. Once his daily connection timer finally rolled over, he walked back to his bedroom. He climbed into the capsule and let the lid close.
"Link start." He materialized right back on the rocky beach. The virtual sun was sitting exactly where it was when he left. The crashing waves sounded identical. Before meeting up with the Thalassa and Neria, Rudra walked over to a small group of merchants who had set up stalls nearby on the island.
"Hey there," Rudra said, leaning casually on his staff.
"You got any spices? I burned through my basic salt and pepper in the last trial." A young merchant smiled brightly.
"We have deep-sea salt, crushed coral-pepper, and dried reef-garlic, Challenger! Very pungent. Excellent for masking the smell of low-tier monster meat, or enhancing the flavor of fresh fish!" Rudra picked up a small pouch of the coral-pepper and sniffed it. It had a sharp, spicy kick that almost made him sneeze. It was perfect.
"I'll take a dozen bags of each," Rudra said. He tossed a handful of silver coins onto the woven mat.
"Keep the change." The merchant beamed, quickly packing the spices into small wooden boxes. Rudra happily shoved the fresh supplies into his inventory. His cooking supplies were fully restocked, and his mood was fantastic.
"Alright," Rudra said, walking back over to the Chief and the High Priestess.
"I'm full and restocked. Let's go to the next one."
