[Deep Sage] Rating: Legendary (Second Class) [Description] Goddess Rebecca and the gods have ruled the world since its creation. However, there was a forgotten era where the surface races advanced their magic, martial arts, and production skills so far that they nearly rivaled the might of the gods. When that era ended, Asterion, the God of the Ocean, buried their knowledge at the bottom of the sea. You have retrieved this lost wisdom. A Sage understands the fundamental rules of the world.
You are a scholar who learns everything, and a teacher who guides others. [Class Basic Effects] - Intelligence and Insight permanently increase by 20%. - Mana Recovery Rate increases by 100%. - Fast Reading: The time required to read, decipher, or analyze any skill book, magic formula, blueprint, or recipe is reduced by 99%. - Boundless Scholar: You can ignore all class, race, and alignment restrictions when learning or reading new knowledge. [The special stat 'Wisdom' is opened!] [The special resource 'Enlightenment' is opened!] Rudra paused. He read the effects twice.
"Wait. Where are the attack skills?" Rudra muttered, scratching the back of his neck. He looked closely at the description. There were no damage multipliers. There were no weapon buffs. He wasn't really puzzled by it. He just shrugged.
"It has 'Sage' in the name. I guess it's strictly a Support class." He kept reading the system panels that popped up behind the class description. [Wisdom] [It represents your capacity to understand and apply complex knowledge. - Increases the maximum limit of your [Enlightenment] resource. - It naturally increases when you acquire profound knowledge - The higher the number, the higher the effect. - Stat points can't be distributed to this stat.] [Enlightenment] [It is the mental energy required to create new concepts or teach others. - Consumed when activating Sage-related skills. - Regenerates naturally based on your [Wisdom] and [Intelligence] stats. - Instantly restores a large amount when you decipher a new text, learn a new skill, or experience a major realization.] [Deep Sage Core Skills] [Endless Learning (Lv. 1)] [Passive] [A Sage constantly evolves through understanding. Every time you successfully learn a new skill, decipher an ancient text, analyze a monster's biology, or master a new recipe/blueprint, your stats permanently increase based on the rarity of the knowledge. - Rare Knowledge: +1 to a random stat, +1 [Wisdom]. - Epic Knowledge: +2 to all stats, +2 [Wisdom]. - Unique Knowledge: +5 to all stats, +5 [Wisdom]. Reading on this site? This novel is published elsewhere. Support the author by seeking out the original. - Legendary Knowledge: +15 to all stats, +10 [Wisdom]. *You can only gain bonus stats from this skill up to 10 times per month.] [Knowledge Creation] [By combining your Intelligence, Insight, and Wisdom, you can invent entirely new Knowledge and document them. - You can create new Techniques, Magic Formulas, Crafting Blueprints, and Alchemy/Cooking Recipes from scratch. - The rating and effectiveness depend on your base stats, materials, and [Wisdom]. - The number of times it can be created will increase every time the level of 'Endless Learning' increases. Number of knowledges that can be created: 5/5. Resource Consumption: 500 to 5, 000 [Enlightenment].] [Impart Knowledge (Lv. 1)] [Active] [A Sage passes down their knowledge. You can directly teach a skill, technique, or recipe you know to an ally, NPC, or pet. - The target's learning speed and proficiency gain for that specific knowledge increases by 500%. - The target must have Maximum Affinity with you to receive this teaching. - If the target successfully masters the knowledge, you receive a permanent 5% reflection of the stats they gained while learning it. - Resource Consumption: 1, 000 [Enlightenment] per teaching session.] Rudra closed the windows. He stared at the empty air for a long moment. The class was absolutely loaded with utility. [Endless Learning] was a massive free stat boost. But since he was limited to ten times a month right now, he realized he had to be smart about it. He couldn't just read Rare books right away.
He had to hoard Unique and Legendary knowledge to maximize the monthly stat payout. [Knowledge Creation] gave him five empty slots to invent things. He could create a brand new recipe for Kratos, or maybe draft a new alchemy potion formula for Elysia. But [Impart Knowledge] was the real prize.
"I can teach my people anything I learn," Rudra smiled. Elysia, Piaro, Singuled, Winfred... his entire crew of knights already had max affinity with him. If he found a rare sword technique book, he could learn it instantly with [Boundless Scholar] get Stat Boost, then pass it directly to them or he could even teach them his legendary skills. He could make his entire territory unstoppable. Before he could pull out his cooking gear to celebrate, a sudden, sharp pain pulsed behind his eyes.
[A profound synergy has been detected.] [The skill 'Sage's Eye' has resonated with your new class foundation.] [The skill has evolved!] [Skill 'Legendary Sage's Eyes' has been acquired.] Rudra blinked rapidly. The slight sting faded, replaced by an incredibly clear, crisp sensation in his vision. He opened the skill description. [Legendary Sage's Eyes] [Active] [You no longer just see the impurities in physical ingredients. - Activating this skill allows you to understand any skill, magic, or item you observe. - Reaching 100% understanding of the observed object will allow you to instantly learn the skill, or acquire the item's blueprint/recipe. - The speed and depth of understanding depends on your [Wisdom] stat and the rarity of the observed object. - Resource Consumption: 100 Mana per second.]"Whoa," Rudra said. He decided to test it immediately. He turned toward the dark corner of the temple room. He knew there was a lingering, un-triggered water-arrow trap hidden in the stonework.
He hadn't bothered to disarm it earlier because the low-level arrows couldn't hurt him anyway.
"Legendary Sage's Eyes," Rudra muttered. His vision shifted. The damp, grey stone wall faded slightly. Glowing blue lines of mana appeared, tracing a complex, knotted pattern inside the rock. He could see exactly how the trap gathered moisture from the air and pulled it into a pressurized chamber. His mana began to drain steadily. 100 points per second. A progress bar hovered over the trap in his vision. Understanding: 10%... Understanding: 45%... Understanding: 80%...
He watched the internal gears and magical triggers work together. It took about twelve seconds of staring for his current Wisdom stat to fully process the mechanism. Understanding: 100%. [You have acquired the blueprint for 'High-Pressure Water Trap'.] [You have learned a Rare-rated knowledge!] [Dextrity +1] [Wisdom +1] The blueprint automatically saved into his system. And not only that he got extra stats for learning new knowledge. Rudra grinned. He walked over to the wall.
Because he fully understood the trap's design now, he didn't need to break the wall. He just reached out, slid a loose stone to the side, and pulled out the small, glowing blue mana crystal that powered the whole thing. The trap safely deactivated.
"Oh, this is brilliant," Rudra laughed, tossing the mana crystal into his inventory.
"I can just reverse-engineer anything I look at." He turned back to the stone altar and hopped up, sitting comfortably on the edge. He had an entirely new class, a new stat system, and the ability to read and learn anything without restrictions. And he had a massive backlog of loot he hadn't been able to use.
"Alright, Kratos, guard the door for a minute," Rudra said, pulling his inventory screen open.
"I have some reading to do."
