His mind felt clear, packed to the brim with complex magical formulas that somehow felt as simple as basic math. He understood exactly how to pull moisture from the air and shape it into a spear, or gather earth and mold it into a wall.
He opened his skill window to check the specifics of what he had just absorbed. "Thirty percent defense ignore on pure magic," Rudra whistled softly.
"That explains how Mumud used to crush vampires without even breaking a sweat." Before he could even process the rest of the magic tree, two more titles dropped into his vision, glowing with a bright gold light. [You have acquired the title 'Master of Mana'.] [You have acquired the title 'Possessor of Great Knowledge'.] Rudra tapped the notifications to read the details. [Master of Mana] - Fully understands and controls the concept of mana.
- The mana increase rate, which is based on intelligence, is 20 times higher than normal. - When attacking a target, there is a chance of taking away mana. - Can accumulate mana that exceeds the maximum mana limit, up to three times the maximum mana value. Cooldown time of 24 hours. - Once the maximum mana is accumulated, casting time is removed when using attack magic. The power of the magic will double. Applies three times in total.
- Once the maximum mana is accumulated, become 'invincible' when using defensive spells on yourself. Applies two times in total. [Possessor of Great Knowledge] - The best intellectual of this time. - Intelligence will rise by 35%. Rudra sat completely still on the stone altar. His mana bar, which had previously been sitting around 40, 000 points after his level reset, suddenly glitched. Powered by the 20x multiplier from his new title and the 35% bump to his base Intelligence, his total mana pool skyrocketed.
He watched the numbers climb until they finally stopped. He had an incredible amount of mana now. He looked down at his hands. He knew he'd definitely use some of these destructive spells later—having a pocket nuke to clear out mobs was always useful—but right now, he realized exactly what this massive mana pool meant for his close-quarters combat. Skills like [Atlas's Rebound], [Targeted Manifestation], and his new [Legendary Sage's Eyes] required a constant, heavy stream of mana.
Previously, he had to carefully manage his resources so he didn't run dry in the middle of a fight.
"I can just leave them running," Rudra grinned. He could keep his physical buffs and tracking eyes active almost constantly. He also checked the utility spells in Mumud's tree. He learned [Teleportation] and [Mass-Teleportation]. Having huge mana reserves meant he could finally fast-travel without dragging Mumud along to open portals for him.
"Are you done yet?" Kratos called out, yawning loudly from the cave entrance.
"You've been staring at the wall smiling for five minutes."
"Yeah, I'm done," Rudra said, hopping off the altar. His boots splashed lightly in the shallow water. He opened his system map. Asterion's blessing glowed brightly on the screen, marking the exact locations of the remaining 43 hidden temples. Rudra traced a finger over the glowing dots.
"Okay, look at this," Rudra muttered to himself.
"We have the three leftover temples from the Siren King's coordinates, plus a new cluster of fifteen scattered right outside this cave. If we hustle, we can knock all eighteen out by the end of the week." He moved his finger across the map, tracing the coastline. The final 28 temples weren't in neutral waters. They were clustered tightly together on the complete opposite side of the continent. Rudra frowned. He zoomed the map in slightly.
"Wait," Rudra said.
"That's deep inside the Saharan Empire's naval territory." He closed the map and sighed. The Murray Kingdom was currently at war with the Empire. On top of that, he still needed to sneak in there eventually to hunt down Asmophel for Piaro. Strolling into their hostile waters wasn't going to be a simple vacation.
"That's going to be a massive headache," Rudra grumbled. He grabbed his heavy black staff. The lightning sparked happily as his hand wrapped around the grip.
"Hey Kratos," Rudra called out, walking toward the exit.
"Change of plans. We're going to clear the next eighteen islands as fast as possible."
"Does that mean we get chicken?" Kratos asked, trotting alongside him.
"If we find a giant island bird, sure," Rudra laughed.
"Let's go smash some temples."
