Chương 36

"You have Daniel and others under you command right?" Kakashi asked late at night. The children were exhausted a bit having so much enjoyment in a single day. Not physically, but emotionally. Thus they have all been knocked out by a sumptuous dinner. But Rei had other things to do. Though he had fun watching his colleagues on their day out, his primary problem remained. And that was getting his chakra control in order, and also get used to the techniques.

Thus late at night he was out in the balcony he was trying to reign in the huge chakra that had been coursing through his body, and also filtering out the jutsus and techniques that he had received, in his memory. It would take some time to get used the new "power". While he was trying to control his chakra, Kakashi had shown up while having a book to read. He got himself quite a number of books from the books store today.

The store manager didn't like the fact that this man was buying an adult book in front of kids, and almost went off on him. It was Daniel who came forward and said that the kids were with him and not Kakashi. This saved quite an embarrassment for the whole group. Anyways, let's come back to the topic.

"Yes. When I first arrived here, they adopted me and almost wanted me as a yes-man and a house-maid. Had to show some muscles to get them in line." Rei replied honestly. Kakashi couldn't help but sigh. He could understand and one thing he did like about Rei was that even though the Demon brothers and Daniel were under Rei, he wouldn't order them around. He would even talk politely with the Demon brothers, which was more than they deserved.

"How is your chakra control going on?" Kakashi had to ask.

"Not so good at the moment. Give me some time and I will be up and perfect." Rei assured. Kakashi quietly nodded afterward while flipping a page of his book. The cool night breeze from Malibu passed through the balcony while the distant city lights glittered endlessly from the sides while the oceanic sounds were like an ASMR. Well, close to that. Honestly… this place still felt unreal to him. Just peace. Or at least the illusion of it. Still, after remaining silent for a few moments, Kakashi suddenly spoke again.

"Are atom bombs really as destructive as this world claims?" Rei paused slightly. That question alone already told him Kakashi had gone deep into internet rabbit holes while everyone else enjoyed malls and food courts. The world still didn't have high level smart phones, like the ones Rei was used to later, but that didn't mean that Kakashi didn't sit in front of a laptop and googled.

"You looked them up?" Rei asked. Kakashi slowly nodded.

"This world records everything." he muttered quietly.

"The history here is more recorded then we have ever had."

"Those who don't know about history are doomed to repeat it." Kakashi sounded disturbed by that. Because unlike the shinobi world where information remained fragmented intentionally, this world casually archived horrors publicly. Entire cities erased by nuclear fire. The more he read, the more horrified he became. Modern humanity had invented apocalypse scientifically. And they did it without chakra. He always had this small nagging feeling in the back of his head that the world of shinobi was cruel.

He even said these words to Obito once. But seeing what humans did, without any chakra, gave him a wake up call. Humans had always been inherently in the war path. And it would never change. Thankfully, it had been some time since the first atom bomb exploded, and though he read about tests, no humans had suffered such attack again and since the second world war, there hadn't been such large scale war ever. "I also read about Steve Rogers." Rei raised an eyebrow slightly.

"…Captain America?"

"Yes." Kakashi nodded.

"The internet claims he was some kind of enhanced super soldier. Faster, stronger and beyond normal humans." Naruto would've absolutely called him awesome if he were awake right now.

"Yes." Rei admitted calmly.

"I guess that part is true too." Kakashi finally looked genuinely surprised hearing that confirmation.

"Biological enhancement?"

"Something like that." Rei nodded lightly.

"This world has its own monsters too." After a brief pause, Rei suddenly called toward the inside of the house.

"Daniel." A few moments later Daniel appeared. He had been running around a lot today so he was a bit exhausted.

"Show him the Harlem footage." Rei replied calmly. Daniel froze slightly afterward.

"… That classified footage?" Rei nodded his head in response. Soon afterward Daniel brought a laptop outside before opening secured files from Allied Universal archives. Their company had consulting contracts and surveillance support with several firms across New York, and during the Harlem incident some of the nearby security systems captured far more than the military liked. Of course the government forced NDAs afterward. And compensated everyone heavily. Money truly solved many things. The footage began playing.

At first Kakashi simply watched quietly. Destroyed streets, military vehicles, civilians running and then suddenly, a gigantic green monster crashed through a building. Kakashi's visible eye widened slightly for the first time in several minutes.

"…What." And then Abomination appeared. Bigger and more grotesque. Pure biological warfare wearing muscles. The footage shook violently while both monsters collided hard enough to crack roads apart like paper. Cars got launched casually. Concrete exploded everywhere. Entire vehicles looked like toys beside them.

"…Those are humans?" he finally asked slowly.

"Technically." Rei replied calmly. Kakashi continued watching the footage afterward while his mind quietly recalculated everything he previously assumed about this planet.

"… After living here for some time," Rei finally spoke quietly afterward, "… I realized this world definitely has its own secrets." Still, eventually the night came to an end and the next morning everyone found themselves preparing for another experience that would probably mentally scar the shinobis permanently. Air travel. Not jumping high in the air or riding on summons. But giant metal cylinder casually flying across the sky with hundreds of people inside.

Naruto almost fainted from excitement the moment he saw the private plane from outside.

"…THAT THING FLIES?!" Naruto shouted while pointing dramatically toward the sleek white jet sitting on the runway.

"Yes." Rei replied calmly.

"…THIS WORLD IS INSANE!" The Demon Brothers honestly weren't handling it much better either. Both stood there staring upward at the aircraft like ancient villagers witnessing alien technology descend from heaven. Meanwhile Sakura already had stars in her eyes because unlike Naruto, she immediately noticed the luxury aspect first.

"…Wait… this belongs to you people?" Daniel nodded casually afterward.

"Allied Universal owns a couple."

"…How rich are you exactly?"

"Enough." Rei replied wisely. Sasuke too was a bit overwhelmed but he had curiosity too. Kakashi meanwhile quietly observed the airport surroundings carefully. Security systems, air traffic, how the planes landed and there were multiple people taking care of the things around. These people compensated for lack of chakra through systems and scale. Then suddenly another car arrived nearby. Laura stepped out afterward looking slightly exhausted but visibly happy.

The moment she noticed everyone gathered near the aircraft, she smiled warmly. She had been MIA for sometime due to her book but she was always updated by Daniel about what was going on. And though she was horrified in the beginning, Daniel had assured her that these new people weren't like Rei, controlling them. And though Daniel was sure that they were dangerous, it didn't mean that they would boss them around. It was a huge relief for her.

"Looks like I arrived just in time." Naruto and others were soon introduced, and they were happy to add another person in the roster. Rei meanwhile looked toward Laura calmly afterward.

"How did the tour go?" That single question completely changed Laura's energy instantly. The woman practically lit up afterward.

"It was incredible!" she answered almost immediately.

"The publishers already started negotiations for foreign translations and the book remained the number one bestseller for the second week straight!" Even Daniel looked impressed hearing that despite already knowing. Meanwhile Team 7 collectively blinked.

"…Book?" Kakashi asked quietly afterward. Laura immediately looked toward Rei with visible gratitude now.

"He gave me the story." That made Kakashi pause slightly.

"…You wrote books too?"

"Not exactly." Rei replied casually.

"I just gave her the premise." that statement alone felt ridiculous to Team 7 already. Because apparently Rei could now: *Use multiple chakra natures. *Travel between universes. *Have a seal based kekkei genkai. *Copy abilities. *Manipulate companies. *And casually create bestselling novels. At this point Naruto probably wouldn't even be surprised if Rei suddenly revealed he owned the moon.

"What kind of story?" Sakura asked curiously afterward. Laura immediately became enthusiastic again.

"It is about a lone scientist waking up alone in space with memory loss while humanity itself faces extinction because the sun is slowly dying."

"What is space?" Naruto asked. And in turn Rei gave all of them rundown of the whole story as the plane slowly took off.
