And use the power of your Celestial companion, so that together we protect this last refuge from the army of your own country." Okonnor stepped back and turned his gaze toward the western horizon, painted wholly in black.

"To protect the West from my uncle Silvester's treachery and from the Shadow Organisation's conspiracies, I must first become a traitor in the eyes of history. I must shatter the very legion my father always glorified." Yet Dex's gaze did not crack, and his resolve did not soften. He had moved beyond the stage of blind loyalties and coloured banners. He was fighting now for survival, for family, and to prevent an entire continent from plunging into the furnace of Absolute Chaos.

If the price of that was becoming a "devil" in the pages of Imperial history books, then so be it. Dex extended his right hand slowly and steadily toward Okonnor.
