Chương 131: One Way.

Each of the cells had a similarly tortured victim that Haruto found nauseating.

'How do the researchers here even stomach working on something like this?' Haruto commented while looking at the researchers inside the lab and frowning in distaste. Unohana spoke from the side with a sigh, 'It's not a matter of how they stomach it, Haruto… it's like war… no one particularly likes it other than the generals on top who see the numbers going up.' Haruto made an unwilling expression on his face. Unohana's medical lessons were not this hateful.

At least the only subjects she used in her studies was herself or the baleful, never the innocent living. And even they had the escape of death. For a while Haruto couldn't particularly do anything but float around and stare at the various jutsus the researchers were doing to transplant the hashirama cells grown artificially in the labs.

'They are simply forcibly trying to mash the two cells together to see who survives and who dies… it's like a game of russian roulette.' Haruto paused for a moment and then said, "This is not even science, this is pure madness, a waste of people by treating them the same as livestock… even Orochimaru would probably assassinate these researchers for Konoha if I made this known to him."

'What would you do differently Haruto?' Unohana asked Haruto in an attempt to distract him from spiralling into something he'd regret doing.

'Hmm… Given your soul knowledge I'd approach it in a different way.'

'How so?'

'I'd implant Hashirama's cells on the body, but then divert all the chakra produced by it into a different artificially created soul in the same body. And then that artificial soul would be sacrificed using the method of the Impure World Reincarnation jutsu to create an infinite source of chakra…'

'But then you'd lose wood release.'

'I could still keep the wood release if only I can create an artificial soul container.'

'But that's impossible isn't it? Unless you steal it from someone, creating your own soul container is not really possible is it? Since creating it artificially always leaves cracks in it and will eventually cause all the chakra in it to leak which means the Hashirama cells transplanted will die and have to be regularly replaced.'

'Still better than whatever this hell I've walked into is.' Unohana frowned. It was getting harder to distract Haruto from unsavory topics nowadays… She was worried he might get, for the lack of a better word, distracted. It was at this point that Grindelwald said something surprising.

'Haruto, I've assigned you a mission.' This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it Haruto, who'd been seriously considering leaking everything about this place to Orochimaru, paused when he heard Grindelwald give out a mission at this moment. Growing curious, Haruto opened the missions tab with three new missions in it.

He would've done all the missions anyway without the missions rewards, however, having the rewards made him stronger for doing it and by extension gave him the chance to be more proactive in the future in such cases. First was Megumin's mission, it was straightforward and the reward was extremely useful. Mission Aim: Free all the children captured by Danzo for the Hashirama cell experiments. Mission Assigned By: Megumin Mission Reward: Knowledge of High Speed Incantation.

High speed incantation was Megumin's way of cutting down on chants to speed up the release of her grand explosion spell. In the shinobi world it would probably be translated to cutting down on handseals to speed up release of jutsus. And even though Haruto currently did not need to use handseals, he still had to make chakra flow through all the required tenketsu in the jutsu to make its effect happen.

If he could cut them down and shorten the casting speed like Tobirama only using four hand seals for the forty four handseals water dragon bullet jutsu, he could vastly overpower his enemies by spamming jutsus as long as his chakra was enough. Next was Edward's mission, however this time the reward somewhat surprised Haruto. After all, he hadn't expected Edward to do this. Mission Aim: Heal all the Hashirama Experiments prisoners.

Mission Assigned By: Edward Elric Mission Reward: Knowledge of the Philosopher stone and how to make it.

'Are you sure you want to give me the formulae for the Philosopher's stone, Edward?' Edward nodded and then spoke, 'Knowledge by itself isn't cursed… and I trust you won't make a philosopher's stone for yourself… I trust that you'll only use the knowledge it provides to better the world you live in.' Haruto felt a little emotional holding Edward's high degree of trust in him. That was when Haruto's gaze landed on Grindelwald's mission and to say that it surprised him was doing it a disservice.

Mission Aim: Punish Danzo for his wrongdoings. Mission Assigned By: Gellert Grindelwald Mission Reward: Knowledge of Protego Diabolica. This was the first time Grindelwald had picked a side when he was with Haruto. He was not one to typically pass judgements against anyone Haruto brought up, even Madara or Black Zetsu or the Otsutsuki. Yet, this situation had angered Grindelwald enough that he'd asked Haruto to punish Danzo for his wrongdoings directly.

'Why the change of heart Grindelwald?' Haruto asked directly without beating around the bush.

'First of all, it is because I see all of the people in this world as the same, not the nomaj or the muggle or the different, but the magical. For someone to even lay a hand on them like this is unforgivable… but the second reason is because your hate needs to be redirected to the one who has caused this travesty… not the bugs and worms who dare not stand up against the king.' Haruto's eyes narrowed to pin pricks.

His gaze landed on the researchers who'd given up and finally after taking a deep breath let it all out in one big sigh.

'You are right.'

'I should've ignored the people at the bottom. I already have the power in the form of connections. And that means I can start at the top.'

'I promise you I'll give Danzo what he deserves and nothing less.' Haruto clenched his fists and calmly proclaimed.

'In the meantime I'll inform Kakashi about the kids and the patients they've got locked up here… that should allow them to accelerate the rebellion and save everyone here faster…'

'And once they do that I'll attack this base and kill all the ROOT shinobi guarding this place before heading towards Danzo and killing him as well if Kakashi's not already done that.'

'Is that alright with you Megumin?' Megumin frowned and loosened the hand on her staff a little.

'Is there no faster way? I don't want these kids to suffer for longer.' Everyone frowned inside the template inventory space at the request. Especially since they all believed taking this place head on was out of Haruto's current league. Haruto frowned too and then paused for a second to think deeply.

'A way to attack this base and save the kids… huh…'

'The way I was thinking about before was using the rebellion as a cover to slip into this base using my spirit transformation jutsu and then wreak havoc by possessing various ROOT shinobi and constantly blowing up things and killing everyone in the process…'

'But is there a way to do this faster?'

'Can I do it right now?'

'No… Kakashi will probably be very upset with me if I did that… they've planned the rebellion and are probably still gathering all their forces… Shikaku and all the other major clans are probably in the process of recalling their best shinobi back to the village to begin a fight against the ROOT… attacking this base prematurely will only result in unnecessary bloodshed and risk of actually losing since our side is not ready fully.' Suddenly Haruto had an idea.

'However… there is that one way… is there not?'
