The metal catwalk groaned under his rapidly increasing weight. The steel beams bent. His face stretched forward. His teeth grew into long, nasty fangs. He no longer looked human. He looked like a hulking, terrifying reptilian beast. Luis let out a deafening roar. He smashed his new, massive fists onto the metal railing. The railing completely shattered. He leaped off the catwalk. He crashed onto the concrete floor below. The impact shook the entire warehouse. Dust flew everywhere. He stood up slowly.
He towered over the girls. He was easily ten feet tall. Toxic green smoke drifted from his mouth. Naomi pulled her daggers back out. Her green eyes widened slightly.
"He drank the serum. He mutated just like the guards in the bunker."
"He is huge," Zinia noted. She planted her boots firmly on the ground. She readied her earth magic.
"Do not let him get close. His physical strength is going to be massive." The mutated Luis glared at them. His red eyes burned with mindless rage. He stomped his massive foot. He did not say a word. He just charged directly at Princess Iris.
"Protect the Princess!" Sayma commanded. Laxmi dashed forward.
"I will stop him!" She threw a massive, roaring fireball right at his chest. The fire hit the beast. It exploded brightly. But Luis did not even flinch. His dark green scales completely absorbed the heat. He ran straight through the flames. He swung his massive, clawed hand. He swatted Laxmi away like a tiny fly. Laxmi tumbled across the floor and crashed into a metal pillar.
"Laxmi!" Naomi yelled. Naomi used her wind magic. She zoomed toward Luis. She slashed her twin daggers at his legs. The silver blades sparked against his scales. They did not leave a single cut. His armor was entirely too thick. Luis kicked his leg out. The force of the kick sent Naomi sliding backward across the concrete. She struggled to keep her balance. Sayma pushed her glasses up. She threw her hands forward.
"Absolute Hexagon!" A bright golden honeycomb barrier snapped into place in front of Princess Iris. Luis reached the barrier. He raised both of his massive fists. He smashed them down onto the golden light. CRACK! The unbreakable shield instantly fractured. Spiderweb cracks spread across the light. Sayma groaned in pain. The monster was overwhelmingly strong. Behind the metal crate, Ken Eliot watched the fight. He finished his chocolate eclair. He wiped his hands on a napkin. Ken slouched his shoulders.
He looked incredibly bored by the entire situation. He did not feel an ounce of fear. He just felt annoyed.
"This guy is way too loud," Ken thought to himself casually.
"My friends are getting tired. If this fight goes on much longer, someone is going to get a serious bruise. I really need to end this so we can go home." This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience. Ken stayed completely hidden in the dark shadows. Nobody was looking at him. The girls were entirely focused on the giant monster. Luis was busy trying to smash Sayma's shield. Ken raised his right hand. He pointed his index finger casually toward the monster's back.
He squinted his left eye. He stuck his tongue out slightly.
"Pew," Ken whispered lazily. He cast his reality-warping Knockback magic. A tiny, completely invisible cyan bullet zipped across the warehouse. It moved completely soundlessly. The invisible bullet tapped Luis right on the back of his left knee. There was no explosion. There was no flash of light. But the magical kinetic force was absolute. The monster's left leg was instantly teleported two inches to the side. It was a very small shift.
But when a ten-foot-tall monster is putting all of its weight into a massive punch, a two-inch shift in footing is completely disastrous. Luis suddenly lost his balance. His massive punch missed Sayma's barrier entirely. He stumbled forward awkwardly. He flailed his giant arms in the air trying to catch himself. He looked incredibly clumsy. He totally face-planted onto the hard concrete floor with a loud SMACK. Naomi blinked in surprise. She stopped moving. She stared at the fallen monster.
"Did he just trip?" Luis roared in frustration. He scrambled back up to his feet. He looked very confused. He glared at Zinia. He opened his mouth wide. Toxic green magical energy gathered in his throat. He was preparing to unleash a devastating breath attack.
"Watch out! He is casting a spell!" Sayma warned. Ken leaned against his crate. He pointed his finger again.
"Pew," Ken mumbled. The invisible cyan bullet hit Luis squarely on the chin. The monster's jaw was instantly jerked upward by exactly three inches. Luis released his toxic breath attack. But because his head was suddenly pointed up, the deadly green beam completely missed Zinia. The beam shot straight up into the air. It melted a massive hole in the warehouse ceiling. Luis choked on his own smoke. He coughed violently. He stumbled backward. He clutched his throat.
He had no idea why his body was suddenly refusing to cooperate.
"His spellcasting is failing!" Zinia cheered. She did not know why he missed. She just thought the serum was making him lose control.
"His body cannot handle the mutation! Now is our chance!" Ira stepped forward. Her face was completely flat and emotionless. She raised her hands. Two massive, high-pressure water whips formed in the air.
"Target balance is compromised," Ira stated in her robotic voice.
"Executing takedown." Ira slashed her arms forward. The water whips cracked like thunder. They wrapped tightly around both of the monster's legs.
"Zinia! Bring him down!" Naomi shouted. Zinia slammed her heavy boots onto the floor.
"Earth Pillar!" A massive, solid column of rock ripped out of the concrete floor directly above Luis. Ira yanked her water whips backward with all her might. She pulled the monster's legs completely out from under him. Luis fell backward. At the exact same moment, the giant stone pillar crashed down directly onto his chest. CRUNCH! The sheer, combined force of the water whips and the crushing earth magic slammed the monster into the floor. The impact was devastating.
The stone pillar pinned him securely to the ground. Luis let out a final, agonizing shriek. The toxic green light in his eyes slowly flickered and died. His massive muscles shrank rapidly. His dark scales melted away. The mutation reversed itself. In just a few seconds, he turned back into a normal, incredibly bruised human man. He lay bleeding and broken on the factory floor. He groaned in pain. He was utterly defeated. The warehouse went completely quiet. The fight was over. Laxmi stood up and dusted herself off.
She smiled proudly.
"Nice combo, you two! We totally crushed him!" Ken peeked his head over the metal crate. He gave them a goofy thumbs-up.
"Great job, team! I distracted him with my invisible aura of fear! You are welcome!" Naomi rolled her eyes. She walked over to the defeated man. Princess Iris walked right beside her. They looked down at Luis. Luis coughed up a small amount of blood. He looked completely pathetic. He was crying. Tears streamed down his dirty face. He knew he had lost everything.
