"How bright?"
"Astronomically." I fabricated the seed from synthesis energy. Small. Dense. And under the shaking, in the ledger where the day's prices were accumulating, one entry sat apart from the overflow scars, already filed, not closeable: the dead seed was not extracting. The well pulled matter, and the first seed was not matter; it was wound geometry, my mistake given permanent shape, and the extraction was consuming the moon around it and leaving it untouched.
When this moon finished becoming fuel, the seed would remain, lodged in empty sky where a middle used to be. Still pulling. Sideways.
