Recap: You purified Floor 6, reached Level 6, and gained Corruption Immunity. The party is resting before Floor 7. You voted to EAT LOOT (REGEN). Passive regeneration was for people who had time. I had a dungeon to conquer and a party to protect. And lying on the floor, glittering in the purified light of the Geode, were fragments. Pure Core Shards. Safe. Potent. Delicious. While Kara was bandaging Renn's arm and Torin was sharpening his sword, I slid over to the pile of crystals.
"Box?" Kara asked.
"Those… those are valuable." So am I, I thought. I opened my lid. I didn't bother with the tongue. I just… inhaled. The shards floated into my stomach. They didn't burn. They didn't corrupt. They felt like cool water on a sunburn. SYSTEM NOTIFICATION Item Consumed: Pure Core Shards (x5) Type: High-Density Mana Effect: Full Restoration HP Restored: 25/25 MP Restored: 20/20 XP Gained: 10 XP Current XP: 500/550 (Level 6) Ah, I thought. That's the stuff. The ache in my wood vanished. The hinges felt oiled.
The mana in my pool hummed, resonating with the Arcane Bond Kara had given me. I felt… peak condition. Torin looked up. He saw the empty spot where the shards were. He looked at me. He sighed.
"Keep your secrets, Box. Just… save some for the next floor." No promises, I thought.
"Ready?" Torin stood. He sheathed his sword.
"The stairs… they look stable." We moved to the staircase. It spiraled down into a darkness that wasn't just absence of light. It was absence. The torches dimmed as we descended. The air grew thin. Not cold. Just… empty. SYSTEM NOTIFICATION Zone Change: Floor 7 (The Void) Environment: Spatial Anomaly / Zero Gravity Pockets Threat: Void Walkers, Gravity Shifts Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.
Core Touched Effect: Neutral (Void Entities Unaffected)"Watch your step," Kara warned. Her voice sounded muffled. Like we were underwater.
"The mana… it's disjointed. Spells might fizzle." Great, I thought. Magic floor. Where magic doesn't work reliably. We reached the bottom. The staircase ended on a floating platform. Beyond it… nothing. No walls. No ceiling. Just a starry expanse of purple blackness. Other platforms floated in the distance, connected by bridges of… solidified shadow.
"Gravity," Renn whispered. He jumped slightly. He floated higher than he should have.
"It's… light." SYSTEM NOTIFICATION Status Effect: Low Gravity Effect: Movement Speed +20% Effect: Jump Height +50% Effect: Slam Damage -10% (Less Weight) Trade-offs, I thought. Faster but weaker hits. We moved onto the first shadow bridge. It was solid underfoot but felt spongy. My Tremorsense struggled. There was no ground to ping. Just… void.
"Contact," Torin whispered. He pointed ahead. On the next platform, a figure stood. Humanoid. But made of the same starry darkness as the sky. No face. No weapons. Just… presence. SYSTEM NOTIFICATION Enemy Detected: Void Walker (Level 6) Type: Ethereal Defense: High (Physical Immunity) Weakness: Magic / Light"Physical attacks won't work," Torin said. He lowered his sword.
"Kara?" Kara raised her staff. She chanted. A bolt of light fired. It hit the Walker. The Walker shimmered but didn't fall.
"RESISTANCE… HIGH…" Kara muttered.
"I need… time." The Walker raised a hand. A sphere of darkness formed. It threw it.
"Shield!" Torin yelled. The sphere hit Kara's shield. It didn't explode. It deleted a chunk of the barrier. Magic is weak here, I thought. Physical is immune. I looked at the Walker. It was ethereal. But I had Core Resonance. I was made of Dungeon stuff. Maybe… maybe I could hurt it. I had full stats. 20 MP. 30 SP. 25 HP. I had the Guardian Hammer (Fire/Physical). Might not work. I had Taunt (Magic). Might work. I had Core Resonance (Passive). If I Slammed it… would my weight matter in low gravity? If I Bit it…
would my teeth pass through? The Walker threw another sphere. Torin deflected it with his shield, but he skidded back. He was losing footing.
"Box!" Torin yelled.
"Can you… tank it?" If I can hit it, I thought. Current Stats (Level 6 - Ironband Mimic): HP: 25/25 (Full) Mana: 20/20 (Full) Stamina: 30/30 (Full) Inventory: 2 Pebbles, Metal Items (Fused). Mage Staff (Loot). Guardian Hammer (Stored). Status: Core Resonance Active, Low Gravity, Void Walker Engaged. What do you do? A) SLAM THE WALKER (PHYSICAL) Use Low Gravity to launch yourself faster. Slam into it. Test Core Resonance vs. Ethereal. (Cost: 5 SP. Gain: Damage Test. Risk: Ineffective vs. Immunity.) B) TAUNT THE WALKER (MAGIC) Use Taunt. It's a magic skill. Might bypass Physical Immunity. Draw aggro from Kara. (Cost: 3 MP. Gain: Aggro. Risk: MP Waste if Immune.) C) DEPLOY HAMMER (FIRE) Release the Guardian Hammer. Fire might burn the Void substance. (Cost: 0 MP. Gain: Elemental Damage. Risk: Hammer might float away.) D) EAT THE SPHERE (COUNTER) Wait for the next sphere. Catch it in your lid. Digest the void magic. (Cost: 2 SP. Gain: Nullify Attack. Risk: Internal Damage.) VOTING CLOSES IN 24 HOURS.
Reply with A, B, C, or D. Most votes wins. [Author Note] Thanks for voting on Chapter 61! Option C (Eat Loot) worked! You are Fully Restored and ready for Floor 7! You've encountered a Void Walker (Physical Immune)!
