"Everything that needed confirmation has been settled. You can rest, young man. I'm sure you're still tired after such an incident." Richard paused slightly before continuing.
"If you want to check on the Stormwind party, go to the church of the goddess of light in the central district. I've referred them to the bishop. Only he may be capable of saving Captain Doyle."
"I see, thank you, President Richard." Kyle nodded before standing up and walking out. Richard calmly watched Kyle close the door before continuing to process the adventure guild's documents.
"Have you finished talking to the president?" Celia curiously asked as she led him back to the first floor.
"Yeah," Kyle nodded, but didn't explain more. The president warned him not to carelessly spread news about the cult due to the possible repercussions.
"Oh," Celia nodded and didn't ask further about it. Recalling the conversation with the president, Kyle was a bit unhappy. Although he could understand the necessity of the interrogation due to the dangers of the cult, he was still unhappy with the pressure and attitude he faced during the interrogation.
'The pressure I faced in that office might even surpass the one I faced during my fight with the abomination.' Kyle thought absentmindedly. As they passed by the second floor, Kyle noticed that several adventurers were sitting around the sofa, talking and laughing. During the time he spent talking to the president, the guild started filling up. As expected, the first floor was gradually filling with boisterous adventurers.
"Mr. Kyle, please wait a moment. I'll process your quest items right away." Celia said before walking behind the counter and picking up the bag filled with goblin ears. Kyle looked around boredly as he waited for Celia to finish. Remembering the money pouch the president gave him, Kyle furtively looked around before opening it slightly.
'13, 14, 15 gold coins!' Kyle exclaimed internally, most of his unhappiness dissipating. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
'Although I don't want to admit it, that guy clearly knows his stuff. Even though I know it's the carrot and stick method, I can't bring myself to hate him.' Kyle closed the money pouch and carefully placed it inside his armor.
"This! It's actually a goblin shaman ear!" A sudden exclamation pulled Kyle out of his thoughts. Following the source of the sound, Celia was holding a slightly larger goblin ear with a metal piercing in it. Celia felt Kyle's gaze and quickly snapped out of her daze. She gave him an embarrassed smile before quickly finishing the quest processing.
"74 goblin ears, and 1 goblin shaman ear. That comes out to 54 silver coins and 40 copper coins." Celia smiled as she settled the amount and gave Kyle a money pouch. Looking at the bulging money pouch in front of him, Kyle frowned slightly. He quickly did the math and found that the goblin shaman's ear came up to just 10 silver coins.
"Is the goblin shaman's ear worth only 10 silver?" He calmly asked.
"Yes. In fact, the price of goblin bounties is merely an incentive to encourage adventurers to hunt them. The goblin materials themselves are almost worthless." Celia nodded and said. Kyle nodded, indicating that he accepted this explanation before walking out of the guild. After asking around for a bit, he quickly found the location of the church of the Goddess of Light. It wasn't far, only around 300 meters away from the adventure guild.
Looking at the magnificent ivory-white cathedral in front of him, Kyle was a bit amazed.
'As expected of the church with the greatest influence on the continent.' He silently observed the cathedral before shifting his gaze toward the steady stream of believers entering and leaving the church. He looked around for a while before spotting a nun near the entrance of the cathedral. Kyle walked straight towards her.
"Good morning, Sister. I'm here to check on a patient brought in yesterday by the Adventurer Guild. His name is Doyle." Kyle gave a slight bow as he spoke. The nun looked up at Kyle with a gentle gaze. She completed her prayer before placing her folded hands before her waist.
"Good morning. A party of adventurers did indeed arrive yesterday. They should still be in the healing hall."
"Please follow me," the nun said before walking between the rows of prayer benches. Soft golden light filtered through the windows, illuminating the majestic cathedral. Soft prayers echoed quietly throughout the hall. Many believers sat at the prayer benches in silent prayer, while others quietly entered rooms whose purpose Kyle could only guess. After passing through several corridors and doors, they crossed a large, beautiful garden before arriving at a separate small building.
She gently knocked on the door, and upon receiving a response, she gently pushed the door open and signaled for Kyle to enter.
"Thank you," Kyle nodded gratefully before going in.
"May the Goddess bless you," the nun said gently before closing the door and walking away.
"Kyle, you're here!" Kyle heard that familiar voice before he could even properly take a look at the room. Following the sound source, he immediately noticed the familiar blond-haired youth.
"Aaron, is Captain Doyle fine?" Kyle asked as he walked towards him. He stood beside a small bed while Tina and Luke sat nearby. The latter two also greeted him before turning to look at the bed thoughtfully. Aaron hesitated for a moment on how to respond but was interrupted by a weak, hoarse voice.
"I'm fine, Kyle. Still alive at least." Kyle immediately looked at the bed. Doyle lay there weakly, but he was still steadily breathing, looking at him with one eye open. The other one was bandaged. In fact, he was almost completely wrapped in bandages.
