The smoke from the vaporized Grimm horde drifted lazily across the cracked asphalt of the Atlas outskirts. The air was entirely silent, save for the faint, ambient hum of the towering cyborg's internal cooling fans. Genos stood frozen in place. His advanced, pitch-black metallic chassis trembled, not from the astronomical stress of crossing the multiverse, but from a profound, overwhelming surge of human emotion.
His glowing yellow optical sensors were locked entirely onto the unremarkable, flat face of the man standing in front of the Huntsmen.
"SENSEI?!" Genos's voice cracked, thick with absolute, desperate longing. The students, Qrow, and the Atlesian operatives, stood completely paralyzed, looking back and forth between the devastating, futuristic machine and the man in the bowler hat. Jaune Arc blinked, leaning slightly toward his team.
"Did he just call him...
'Sensei'?" Saitama stood exactly as he always didslouching slightly, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his pristine white trench coat. His dotted eyes widened in mild, comical surprise before his face broke into a genuinely fresh, easygoing smile.
"Yo," Saitama greeted casually, raising a hand.
"It's been a while, Genos!" For a long, torturous second, Genos remained perfectly still, processing the visual and audio data to ensure this was not a multidimensional hallucination. Then, the cyborg's thrusters flared.
"SENSEEEEEIII!!!" Genos dashed forward with blinding, supersonic speed. He completely ignored the flinching Huntsmen and Huntresses, tackling Saitama with the kinetic force of a speeding truck, wrapping his heavy, pitch-black arms tightly around the bald hero.
"GAH!" Saitama yelped as the sheer momentum knocked him completely off his feet. The two of them crashed heavily onto the asphalt. Genos landed directly on top of Saitama, burying his face into the hero's chest, hugging him with a desperate, unbreakable grip. Physically, Genos lacked the biological tear ducts to cry. But his human heart was undoubtedly weeping with absolute, unadulterated joy.
"SENSEI! I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU!" Genos shouted, his synthetic voice glitching with emotion.
"ALL OF US HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU!"
"WHOA, WHOA! EASY THERE!" Saitama yelled, comically struggling to release himself from the cyborg's crushing, hyper-dense grip while simultaneously reaching up with one hand to desperately keep his bowler hat intact on his head. Genos, completely oblivious to his master's struggle, remained sprawled on top of him, full of frantic longing. He began to rapid-fire questions at maximum volume.
"HOW HAVE YOU BEEN ALL THIS TIME?! DID YOU EAT WELL?! DID YOU SLEEP WELL?! DID THIS WORLD DO ANYTHING BAD TO YOU?! DID YOU ENCOUNTER ANY MONSTERS THAT CAUSED YOU DISCOMFORT?!"
"I'M FINE, GENOS! AS YOU CAN SEE, I'M COMPLETELY FINE!" Saitama shouted back, his face turning slightly blue as he frantically patted the cyborg's back.
"PLEASE GET UP! YOU'RE INCREDIBLY HEAVY NOW!" Oscar, Qrow, Ciel, Penny, Neopolitan, the five Ace Operatives, Team RWBY, Team JNPR, and Team FNKI stood in a wide circle around them, staring at the bizarre reunion in absolute bafflement. Just minutes ago, this mechanical titan had unleashed apocalyptic firepower that vaporized an entire Grimm army. Now, he was clinging to "Darwin" like a lost, over-eager puppy. Ruby Rose watched them, a warm, bright smile breaking through her lingering dread.
The scene vividly reminded her of how Penny tackled her in the streets of Mantle when they first reunited. It was strangely, incredibly wholesome. Saitama finally managed to pry the heavy cyborg off his chest, and the two of them stood back up. But Genos wasn't finished. He immediately grabbed Saitama's shoulders with both hands, comically shaking the bald hero's body back and forth as he continued his frantic interrogation.
"What else were you doing all this time in this strange world, Sensei?! What were those black, avian creatures with the bone plating?! I must report that I utilized a highly volatile 'warp energy' tether from an advanced Void-Gorgon spawn to bridge the dimensional gap and cross the Multiverse! Dr. Kuseno completely overhauled my chassis with a Dimensional Container Device to ensure my survivability!"
Genos continued to explain his harrowing, multiverse-crossing journey, his words blurring into an endless, highly technical monologue while continuously shaking his Sensei's body. Saitama, being comically rattled back and forth, looked deeply annoyed by the onslaught of thousands of words.
"Alright, alright! Calm down!" Saitama complained, grabbing Genos's wrists and forcing him to stop shaking.
"I don't understand even half of the sci-fi jargon you just said, but I'll tell you my story later! Twenty words or less, remember?" Genos finally stopped, his glowing orange core settling into a steady, calm rhythm. He released Saitama's shoulders, stepping back and bowing his head deeply.
"Sensei," Genos said softly.
"You don't know how we all missed you very much!" Saitama sighed, his annoyed expression melting back into a soft, comical smile. He rubbed the back of his neck.
"Yeah, it's good to see you too, Genos," Saitama admitted.
"So, how's everyone doing back home? King? The old man? Mumen? Fubuki and her annoying midget sister?"
"They are all fine, Sensei, and they are all searching for you," Genos reported. His optical sensors then narrowed.
"But our world is in crisis right now. We need to return!" Before Saitama could process that, Genos looked around, his sensors scanning the ruined buildings and the hovering Atlesian airships above.
"Sensei, where are we right now? What is this place?"
"We are in Atlas," Saitama answered lazily.
"It's some kind of a floating city in the sky. It's really cold."
"Atlas? What is that?" Genos asked, utterly confused. He then looked closely at Saitama's attire.
"Also... why are you dressing like a mafia enforcer?! Where is your hero suit?!" Saitama's eyes widened in comical panic. He instantly lunged forward, slapping his red-gloved hand directly over the cyborg's mechanical mouth and leaning in close.
"Keep your voice down!" Saitama hissed in a dramatic whisper, glancing nervously at the surrounding Huntsmen.
"I'm on a highly classified secret mission!" Genos gently pulled Saitama's hand away, his processors whirring in deep confusion. Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"Secret mission?" Genos asked, his tone shifting to complete seriousness.
"So... Sensei is operating undercover? How did this happen? Who ordered you to do this? Is there an organization here capable of commanding you?" Saitama let out a long, exhausted sigh, slouching forward.
"It's a really, really long, annoying story..." Just then, Team RWBY, Team JNPR, Team FNKI, Oscar, Penny, Ciel, and Neopolitan cautiously stepped forward to approach the two.
"Uh... Saitama?" Ruby asked softly, gripping Crescent Rose.
"Do you know him?" Genos instantly snapped his head toward the teenagers. His expression hardened into a deadly, protective scowl, his optical sensors glowing fiercely as he assessed the armed youths.
"Ah, yes," Saitama nodded. He gestured casually to the cyborg.
"This is Genos. I told you guys about him back in Beacon, remember?" Team RWBY and Team JNPR gasped. Their minds flashed back to the quiet nights during the reconstruction of Beacon Academy, and during their training days with Saitama as Beacon's "Tactical Kinetic Evaluator". Saitama had casually mentioned his blonde cyborg disciple from his home universe several times. The rest of the group, Neo, Oscar, and the Atlas students, were entirely out of the loop.
"Wait, he is that cyborg disciple of yours?!" Yang exclaimed, her lilac eyes wide.
"Disciple?" Oscar repeated, completely bewildered.
"From Saitama's actual homeworld?!" Neon Katt gasped, her twintail hair twitching in excitement. Neopolitan stood slightly behind Saitama, staring at the terrifying machine. She smirked, crossing her arms. Her personal, invincible "shield" was no longer alone in this world. The deck was heavily stacked in their favor now. Team RWBY and Team JNPR immediately stepped forward, their faces breaking into warm, friendly smiles.
"It's an absolute honor to finally meet you in person, Genos!" Pyrrha greeted respectfully.
"Saitama has told us so much about you!" Nora beamed, waving excitedly.
"Well, mostly that you pay his rent, but still!"
"How did you even manage to get here?" Ren asked, genuinely awestruck by the multiversal feat. But Genos didn't answer them. He didn't know anyone here besides his Sensei. He simply stared at the teenagers with a cold, highly skeptical, and deeply serious face. His silence stretched on, making the friendly teenagers shift awkwardly on their feet. Genos then turned his head slightly toward Saitama.
"Sensei, who are they?"
"Oh, them?" Saitama answered casually.
"They are students who accompany me during my stay in this world."
"Students?" Genos repeated, analyzing their weaponry.
"Well, basically, this world has its own 'heroes' called 'Huntsmen' and 'Huntresses'," Saitama explained, gesturing vaguely.
"There are massive schools for them to learn how to fight monsters."
"I see," Genos murmured. He turned back to the teenagers, his tone laced with immense respect for their supposed tutelage.
"If you accompany him, you must have been learning an incredible amount from him." Saitama smirked, crossing his arms and puffing his chest out in a display of sheer, comical arrogance.
"Learning? Please, Genos. I am taking care of these brats. They'd be lost without me." The teenagers stared at him, absolutely baffled by his shameless antics.
"Are you, though?" Weiss asked dryly, placing a hand on her hip. Saitama completely broke his cool pose, his face scrunching into a highly annoyed pout.
"Man, don't ruin my image in front of him! I'm trying to look cool!" Penny Polendina eagerly stepped past Weiss, walking directly up to Genos with a bright, fascinated smile.
"Salutations!" Penny greeted brightly. Genos stared down at the strange girl, his sensors immediately detecting her synthetic, mechanical nature.
"I am Penny Polendina," she introduced herself happily.
"It is very pleasant to finally meet Saitama's friend from his homeworld!" Penny leaned in close, walking in a slow circle around Genos as she meticulously observed his pitch-black cybernetic chassis and glowing orange conduits.
"Wow," Penny breathed in pure awe.
"This is a very fascinating arrangement of armaments! Atlas does not have this kind of miniaturized thermal technology! Your internal reactor is magnificent!" Genos, slightly taken aback by the wholesome, genuine compliment from another machine, nodded stiffly.
"Thank you. Dr. Kuseno built it for me."
"Dr. Kuseno?" Penny tilted her head, her green eyes sparkling.
"Is he your father?"
"No," Genos replied softly, a faint sense of warmth touching his voice.
"But... I want to think that he is."
"Fantastic!" Penny beamed, clapping her hands together.
"I have a father who also built me!" Before the wholesome cyborg bonding could continue, heavy, authoritative footsteps approached. Qrow Branwen and the Ace Operatives stepped forward, their faces completely devoid of amusement.
"Alright," Qrow sighed, resting Harbinger on his shoulder.
"So, can anyone fill us in on what is actually going on?" Clover Ebi stepped up to the front, his eyes locked onto Genos.
"Who are you? How do you know Saitama? And exactly what kind of unregistered weapon system do you possess?" Genos's posture instantly stiffened. His optical sensors narrowed as he assessed the commanding presence of the adults. He was still incredibly wary of the people of Remnant.
"I am Demon Cyborg, S-Class Rank 12 of the Hero Association," Genos declared, his voice cold, precise, and echoing with absolute seriousness.
"I hail from an entirely different universe, the homeworld of Saitama-sensei. For the past three months, I have been investigating a catastrophic dimensional tear caused by a god-level threat known as Void-Gorgon. I forcefully extracted a highly volatile 'warp energy' tether to cross the Multiverse, traversing the void to finally locate him." The adults' eyes widened to the absolute limits of human physiology.
"A different... universe?" Harriet Bree choked out, her jaw dropping.
"The Multiverse?!" Flynt Coal yelled, taking a step back. The adults were completely bewildered. They found the cyborg's hyper-technical, sci-fi explanation entirely impossible to believe. In their world, magic existed. Gods existed. But multiple realities? Other universes? They thought those concepts were strictly relegated to comic books and fiction. Qrow rubbed his temples, a massive headache forming.
He vaguely remembered Saitama rambling about a "Hero Association" and monsters from his home during the reconstruction of Beacon Academy, many months ago. Qrow had completely shrugged it off as the ramblings of an idiot at the time. Now, staring at a cyborg that had just vaporized an entire Grimm army, Qrow realized Saitama had been telling the absolute truth from day one. While the adults were paralyzed by the existential dread of a multiverse, the teenagers simply looked at Genos in complete awe.
They had already known Saitama was an alien. But seeing the living, mechanical proof of his homeworld was breathtaking. Saitama let out a massive, highly comical sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose as he watched the adults' brains short-circuit.
"Don't mind him," Saitama told Qrow and Clover lazily.
"Genos is always like this. He takes everything way too seriously." Before Clover could respond, the roar of heavy thrusters filled the air. Several Atlesian Manta airships descended rapidly from the sky, hovering just above the street. The heavy hatch doors slammed open, and dozens of fully armored Atlesian soldiers poured out, immediately forming a tight, tactical perimeter around the group. Clack-clack.
Every single soldier raised their advanced energy rifles, aiming the laser sights directly at Genos's glowing chest.
"Don't move! Identify yourself!" the lead officer barked over a megaphone. Genos's optical sensors flashed crimson. The ports on his palms slid open with a sharp, mechanical hiss, glowing with volatile plasma. If the soldiers began to shoot, he was fully prepared to incinerate the entire platoon.
"Wait, don't shoot! He is one of us!" Ruby screamed, instantly darting forward. Team RWBY, Team JNPR, Team FNKI, Oscar, Ciel, and Penny immediately moved as one, forming a physical human shield around the cyborg to block the soldiers' line of sight. The Ace-Ops quickly stepped up, raising their hands to de-escalate.
"At ease, soldiers! Lower your weapons!" Clover commanded with absolute authority.
"He is not an enemy!" Clover paused, glancing nervously at Genos's glowing palms.
"... So far." Saitama and Qrow stood together in the center of the chaos, looking at each other. Qrow looked profoundly stressed, while Saitama simply blinked in comical, flat-faced confusion, having absolutely no idea what to do in this geopolitical standoff. A moment later, one final, heavily armored command Manta airship descended, landing smoothly at the end of the street. The heavy ramp hissed open. General James Ironwood marched down the ramp, his pristine white coat billowing in the wind.
Specialist Winter Schnee walked a half-step behind him, her hand resting on the hilt of her sword. A squad of elite Atlesian guards flanked them.
"Stand down," Winter ordered the surrounding soldiers sharply. The entire platoon immediately lowered their rifles, standing at attention. Genos, observing the chain of command, slowly lowered his glowing palms, the ports sealing shut. General Ironwood walked heavily through the parted ranks of soldiers, his eyes locked entirely onto the pitch-black cyborg. He stopped just a few feet away. Genos and Ironwood stood face-to-face. Ironwood's eyes swept over Genos's chassis.
As a man who had dedicated his life to the advancement of Atlesian technology, he was absolutely shocked by the sheer, impossible sophistication of the machine standing before him. The materials, the energy output, the flawless integration of the cybernetics. It was centuries ahead of anything Atlas had ever produced.
"Who are you?" Ironwood demanded, his baritone voice a low, commanding rumble.
"And where did you acquire that technology?"
"I am Demon Cyborg, Saitama-sensei's disciple," the cyborg answered coldly, refusing to be intimidated.
"And this technology was built to protect humanity. I do not answer to you." Ironwood narrowed his eyes, stepping closer.
"You are standing on Atlesian soil. Your unregistered weaponry just unleashed a blast that bypassed our entire grid. You will answer me, or you will be detained for military questioning." Genos didn't flinch. His optical sensors whirred, running a rapid, deep-tissue X-ray scan over the aggressive commander. Genos's eyes stopped. He registered the metal fused to bone, the synthetic skin, and the robotic right arm hidden beneath the General's coat.
Genos looked Ironwood dead in the eye, his synthetic voice dropping into a flat, knowing register.
"You're a cyborg too."
