Chương 168: Chapter 151. Motivation For Mountains

Once Janet and Ellie had left, the night settled down. I washed the dishes and then went off to bed with Sarah and Anna. I woke up to the smell of something delicious cooking. I looked around to see Sarah and Anna still sleeping. Both of them had an arm each wrapped in their own arms. Seems I was stuck like this till they woke up. /KNOCK! KNOCK! / Or, until someone knocks on the door to wake us up. Seems it might be later than expected?

"... Hmm..." Anna opened her eyes and started to blink. Sarah on the other hand, seems to still be tired. I keep telling her not to go wild every night, but for some reason, she continues to try and 1 up me like it's a competition. So far, I'm undefeated." Good morning, John." Kiss... Anna whispered in my ear, then she kissed my cheek as she woke up. She raised herself off of the bed and put on a nightgown and robe. With my free hand, I held Sarah's nose shut and waited for her eyes to open.

"!!!"" Good morning." Pull! Kiss! I smiled at Sarah and then she grabbed my back and pulled me on top of her. We kissed as I let go of her nose. Once she had gotten her fill, she released me." That would've been the best way of waking me up. What time is it anyways?"" I'm not sure. Based on the sun though, I'd say it's around 7am." We got dressed quickly and then went to the door. We opened it to find Amy, Brenda and Catherine. The 3 Maids we took in along with Janet, Jim and Ellie.

We also had 3 Butlers, Aaron, Brandon and Chris. But they don't seem to be here at the moment? The Maids all greeted us though, but why did all 3 of them have to come here?" We're here to fetch the Masters for breakfast!" Brenda happily explained why they were here. Apparently, Janet asked them to fetch us, because the breakfast is best served fresh.

We followed the Maids to breakfast and enjoyed a freshly made dish called "Screaming Boars" It's similar to pigs in a blanket in my world, only made with local ingredients found here in the Roselands. It was made with freshly made bread and wild game sausages. It was delicious and made me ready to start the day." What will you be doing today, My Love?" Sarah asked me what I was going to do today. Since I had been ignoring the paperwork in my office, I decided to work on that before I fell asleep last night.

Once I get that done... I guess I need to visit Warrick again? I did tell him that he and Aqua would be one of the first people I'd like to try ice cream. With the advancement of cheese as well, I should be able to show him some interesting dishes. Then I need to get back to the fields and finish the farms around Paradise. Once all of that is over... Well, there's still so much work to be done, but it's lessening. I decided to stop thinking about the future work I had and focused on today."

I'm going to handle the paperwork I've ignored for the past week. That'll take at least a day of work, I think? Care to join me?"" Of course! Anna, would you like to do paperwork instead of train today?"" Sure!" With the cooperation of my Wives, we made our way to the office. The Maids had their own work to do and had left us to our own devices after bringing us breakfast. So it was only the 3 of us that were walking to the office." Where is Emily, Darling?" Anna asked a good question."

I thought I would ask her to start working a few days ago, but it feels rude to have her deal with all of the paperwork on her first day. I think after I get it under control, I'll ask what day works for her."" I see." Sarah and Anna began to giggle at my words. I have no idea why, but we made our way to the office regardless. I opened the door to the office to let my Wives in first. Once I closed the door, I saw something unexpected." Emily! What are you doing!?"

Emily was at the desk that Sarah or Anna would use when they would help with the paperwork. I didn't call her here though? I look at Sarah and Anna and they were both smiling. A voice came from the corner of the room after Sarah explained why Emily was here. I turned to look, and it was Ruby, with a tired look on her face." Ruby. She's been working since 6am!?"" Somewhere around that amount of time. I've tried to get her to walk away for a few minutes to get something to drink or eat, but it's like she's in a trance. But it's strange, no matter how many pages she goes through, the mountains barely shrink. Even worse, if you listen closely, you can hear her mumbling something.""

What is she mumbling?" Ruby seemed at a loss as to what Emily was saying. She couldn't even try to answer the question I asked her. I turn to Sarah and Anna." Did you guys notice anything strange? Anna, can you take a look at her?" To Sarah and Anna's shaking heads, I asked Anna if she could use her special eyes to take a look at Emily. After observing her for a minute, Anna came back with her report." She's perfectly fine, no curses, no medical issues that I can see.

It seems like she's just in her "work mode", if I had to guess."" Did you see her mumbling something?"" Yes."" What was it?"" Reward." I was surprised by Anna's answer. I asked for clarification and Anna responded the same word. I walked over to Emily myself, and I tried to listen in as well. I stuck my ear closer to Emily and began to concentrate. I heard her gentle voice speaking in an almost rhythmic chant.

"... Reward... Reward... Reward..." I walked back over to the 3 women in the corner. I decided to give my own take on the situation." She must've saw the mountains of paperwork and thought that a reward was necessary for that amount of work. Which she is correct on."" Oh? Does that mean you're going to give us rewards as well?" I nodded to Sarah's teasing question. Since I have employees now, I figured it was better to use the carrot and the stick approach. Thankfully I haven't needed to punish anyone.

I'd imagine I won't have to for a while seeing as how, outside of the original 2 families that were here, everyone else in Paradise are thankful to me and just want to help make Paradise a great town. I have a sneaking suspicion that's half the reason why the Human refugees were able to be accepted into town. The rest was due to their own personal connections... Minus that whole announcement that people would be punished for unwarranted violence by me of course." I planned on doing any one thing you asked of me.""

Oh really?" Sarah liked the reward. Anna was already thinking about what she would use it on. I could tell from the wiggling of the eyes on her arms. It's a telltale sign that she was thinking. I find it quite cute myself, but Ruby had no idea what was going on when she looked at Anna's sleeves. It's nice that their motivation has risen. However, too much is a bad thing, I think... Maybe that makes me a bit hypocritical? But I have Paladin's Recovery, so it's doable.

I need to help Emily come back down to Gaia though. I asked if Sarah and Anna could try waking her up from her trance. They both tried and failed. All 3 of the girls looked at me after Sarah and Anna returned to the corner of the room." Alright, I get it, I'm going." I look at Sarah and Anna before leaving." Don't get jealous, I'm just trying to help her." Sarah and Anna nodded their heads to me. I walked over to Emily and bent down to her ear. I waited a second and then talked."

Emily, can you stop for me for a second, I'd like to talk to you for a moment."" Of course, Lord Matthew!"

"!" Lean... I bolted back as Emily excitedly answered my question. I turned to look at the women in the corner. They all had faces of disbelief at the scene." Huh? Lord Matthew? When did you get here?" Emily began to look around the room and noticed the other 3 in the room." Oh! Ruby, Lady Sarah, Lady Anna! Good morning!" There was silence for a minute... Then, I began to ask the obvious question." Emily, what were you just doing?"" Hm? What do you mean?""

You were in a trance-like state, no one was able to get through to you. Well, except for me, I guess?"" Oh! It's a Skill my Dad taught me. It's a Meditation Skill. It's called Auto-Action. Basically, my subconscious works and my actual, thinking self, is able to focus on something other than work."" And you make no mistakes in that state?"" When it comes to menial work like this, yes. I just need to set the rules to the trance.

Basically, I complied all of the paperwork that needs your seal of approval, here, in this pile, and anything that would be seen as interesting in this pile. Finally, this pile is for reports that I've complied, so you receive the important bits. Once the rule set was created, I activated the Skill."" I see."" There really are no mistakes." Anna took a look at Emily's reports and was shocked at what she found." What were you thinking about for the past 4 hours, Emily?"

I asked a question to Emily that I'd like to know the answer to." Well, Janet mentioned that if I did a good job... I might be "rewarded". So, I was focused on that... Among other things..." Emily got a little bashful after speaking. I explained to her a few things though." Emily, I do reward my employees for their good work, but, if you need something so bad that you don't mind going through something like this for it, you can just tell me, and I'll get you it."

Emily again, looked nervous and then looked at Sarah and Anna. I guess it's something embarrassing to tell a man. While I was thinking about what to do, Sarah came over and began to speak." I understand, Emily." Sarah seemed to know something? She then turned to me after speaking to Emily for a second." Let's get to work, for her reward, it will be handled and approved by Anna and I!" Sarah's smile was pressuring me to drop the subject, to keep my Wife happy, I did as she wanted.

For the rest of the day, all 4 of us worked on the paperwork as Ruby removed the paper we no longer needed from the room. After we were done, the room was finally clean of paper. A stack of freshly stamped and signed paperwork sat on my desk after all of the mayhem. I then called in Aaron, Brandon and Chris to the room and instructed them to deliver the paperwork to the proper places. With that, the day ended with a good dinner and mental fatigue I could barely believe.

Sarah, Anna and I, fell asleep as soon as our heads hit our pillows that night. Of course, we fell asleep only after my Wives grabbed 1 of my hands into their own, but I didn't mind at all as I closed my eyes for the night.
