Three bullets struck Adam's shoulder and dropped to the ground. More Supes had arrived. Two were flying through the air, while two others stood to the side. One of them carried a bow and arrows. The bow looked like it had been made from bone. Another Supe held a large spear, and his hands were thick. Adam looked at them in surprise. Had he seen these Supes in the original series? He could not remember. Black Noir appeared from above.

He was the one who had fired the bullets, and he understood that Adam's presence had made their chances of winning small. Maeve came running and jumped down toward them. She had seen Adam fight Homelander, and she had already watched what he could do. Maeve moved forward and readied her fist.

"Distract him!" she shouted. Black Noir and the other Supes moved at the same time. The Supe with the bone bow fired an arrow at Adam. Adam saw that it was not an ordinary bow. The arrow shot toward Adam, but he caught it before it reached him. He turned his arm and threw the bone arrow back at the archer. It moved even faster on its way back. One of the flying Supes came toward Adam. She opened her mouth. Adam looked at her after throwing the arrow. Her mouth began growing larger.

Then a shock wave came out of it and moved downward. The wave cut through the air and passed through Adam's entire body. Adam recognized the ability from an animated show he had watched in his past life. It reminded him of Echo Echo from Ben 10. Adam smiled. The other Supes moved forward, and Black Noir advanced with them.

"You can throw a wave too?" Adam shouted.

"Then take this!" Both of Adam's hands had been hanging below him. He brought them forward at tremendous speed and clapped them together. The clap created a massive shock wave. It moved straight toward the flying Supe with the butterfly-like wings behind her. The shock wave struck her and threw her backward. She flew away as if a magnet had pulled her. Blood ran from her. Black Noir readied his fist and struck toward Adam's mouth. Adam moved his head and leaned back. Noir's punch missed him. Adam caught Noir's arm and turned with it. Then he threw him to the other side. Maeve came at Adam from the side. Adam knew Maeve from the television series, so he did not want to attack her with full strength. Maeve swung at Adam with both fists. Adam caught both of her hands with his own. He was about to strike her with his head when Maeve opened her mouth.

"I need your help, Adam," she said.

"In return, I'll help you save Starlight." Adam stopped. He remembered that, in the original timeline, Maeve had been planning against Homelander. Her plan had failed, and she had almost died. Adam released both of her hands. His eyes began glowing. The laser light made Maeve flinch. She had seen it before, cutting through Homelander's own laser vision. Adam turned his head toward the remaining Supes. The laser shot toward them at tremendous speed. Maeve did not dare look in that direction.

She knew what was about to happen. Adam had been unsure whether he should kill these people. Then he remembered that if he started killing ordinary people like Homelander, there would be no difference between them. That was why he controlled his powers. His clap could have removed half the building if he had used all his strength with his current Superman synchronization. Instead, the wave only pushed the Supes away and damaged them without killing them. He controlled his laser in the same way.

It moved at tremendous speed, but its deadliness was limited. It pushed the Supes back and burned their skin instead of cutting them apart. The beam struck the two remaining Supes. Their chests began burning, and they fell to the ground, struggling from the pain. Adam looked at Maeve.

"Take me to Annie, and I'll deal with these two while you go ahead." Adam turned away. Maeve saw Black Noir jump through the air, a knife aimed at Adam's back. Adam vanished and appeared beside Noir before the knife could reach him. He caught Noir's knife hand and seized his neck. Adam drove him down onto the floor. Then Adam turned his head toward the other side. His laser vision began glowing again. Shockwave was running toward him from outside.

He held both arms in front of himself, crossing them into a shield as he charged at Adam. He intended to collide with Adam at full speed and tear him apart with the impact. Adam realized that he would have to kill some of them. In the original timeline, Shockwave died around this point. Adam stopped holding back. His eyes glowed red. Even Black Noir, trapped in Adam's grip, noticed the change. It was redder than any laser he had seen before. It looked like a burning sun. The laser fired forward in a massive beam.

It matched Shockwave's speed and reached him head-on. Shockwave saw it through the gap between his crossed arms. His face showed shock during the final moment before the beam struck him. The beam struck him. His face and hands burned away. It continued outside the building in the direction from which Shockwave had come. Adam shut off his laser as quickly as he could, but the beam still continued through the outside area. It cut through several buildings before finally disappearing.

"Shit, I lost control," Adam thought. Black Noir tried to reach his gun while Adam held him down. He knew the gun would not do anything to Adam, but he still tried to reach it. Adam tightened his grip around Noir's neck. Noir began struggling harder. Maeve came over and removed the cover from Black Noir's face. She put a piece of chocolate into his mouth. Noir struggled even more. He became unconscious. Maeve looked at Adam.

"He's unconscious now." Adam let go of Noir's neck.

"Let's go."
