As soon as Jimin opened the chest, a bright golden light burst out immediately.
"Woah!" Everyone's eyes widened. But the golden glow slowly faded away. And as it did, the contents of the chest finally became visible. Several items rested neatly inside. A sword. A dagger. Two vials of potion. A strange liver-looking organ. And a bluish glowing crystal. The sight instantly drew everyone's attention.
"Damn. There are quite a number of items inside," said Yu-jun suddenly.
"Not bad!" Gun-woo exclaimed.
"That's actually a lot of loot," Hye-jin added while peering inside.
"Yeah," Min-su replied as he picked up the sword, examining it carefully.
"And this sword particularly seems to be of good quality. Hope it has some useful effects and stat bonuses," he added. The others also began grabbing different items out of curiosity. Jimin casually picked up the strange organ. Immediately, he activated 'Appraisal'.
Name: Goblin Chief's Liver Category: Consumable Description: The exceptionally hardy liver harvested from a defeated Goblin Chief. Consuming this item temporarily increases natural stamina recovery and male vigor. Can also be used as a high-grade ingredient for vitality potions.
As soon as he finished reading, he put it back down instantly without any hesitation. His expression visibly twitched. Ugh… It's basically viagra. Jimin quietly continued appraising the remaining items, while pretending to simply take a look. The crystal came first.
Name: Mid Grade Mana Crystal Category: Material Description: A refined crystal containing a dense amount of pure, stabilized mana. Can be used for alchemy and forging.
Then came the sword.
Name: Black Wolf Sword Category: Weapon Type: Sword Rank: E Description: A practical steel blade darkened to a midnight-black finish. Its shape mimics the cruel fangs of a hunting wolf.. Stats: STR +3, AGI +1 Damage: 28 - 34 Effect: 10% chance to inflict [Bleed], causing minor damage over time. Durability: 98/100 His eyes lingered on the weapon for a moment. This is a top-tier E-rank sword. Undoubtedly the best item here. Should definitely fetch a good price. Right then- A notification popped up.
['Appraisal' has reached Lv. 16] Jimin blinked. Then, a smile appeared on his face. Damn… It took forever to level up. Leveling up skills with only proficiency training is really becoming less viable with higher levels. At this rate… It might even take months to gain a single skill level later. He shook off the thoughts.
Afterward, he quickly finished checking the rest. But there was nothing special. A basic E-rank goblin dagger. A vial of low-grade mana and healing potion each. Jimin was finally done appraising the items. So, he began calculating. These alone should fetch a total of five to six million won. And including the mana cores we collected, the total should be around 22 million won. Besides… I alone should have cores worth ten million won. Enjoying this book? A faint grin appeared. Not bad. Around him, the excitement gradually settled. The initial adrenaline of victory had faded. The party members were now sitting around the chamber, recuperating. Some chatted. Some stretched their sore muscles. Jimin quietly glanced around. Now's the time. He immediately opened his status window. And the familiar translucent panel appeared before him.
【STATUS WINDOW】 Name: Sam Jimin Age: 16 Rank: E Level: 8 HP: 436/490 STA: 123/310 MP: 134/470 PE: 317/720 STATS: STR: 19(+1) AGI: 20(+1) END: 22(+1) INT: 35(+2) WIS: 27(+3)(+1) VIT: 18(+1) CHA: 10(+3)(+1) PSY: 63(+16)(+3) LUK: 15(+4)(+1) FREE STATPOINTS: 5 UNIQUE SKILL: Skillmaster SKILLS → Telekinesis (Lv. 14) Telekinetic spin (Lv. 13) Telekinetic barrier (Lv. 13) Meditation (Lv. 12) Growth (Lv. 12) Dash (Lv. 13) Appraisal (Lv. 16) Jimin carefully analyzed everything.
His gaze moved carefully through each section, examining every change one by one. So, PSY increased by three. INT by two. And the rest by one… Huh? Cool. Then, a thoughtful expression appeared on his face. He began contemplating how to distribute his statpoints. Two for PSY definitely. Maybe… I should add one to INT, AGI and VIT each. That punch showed me the importance of VIT. And I also need AGI for faster reflexes. The decision became obvious.
Without hesitation, he finally distributed the statpoints. [PSY +2, INT +1, AGI +1 and VIT +1] HP: 457/500 STA: 123/315 MP: 134/480 PE: 317/750 STATS: STR: 19(+1) AGI: 21(+1) END: 22(+1) INT: 36(+1) WIS: 27(+3)(+1) VIT: 19(+1) CHA: 10(+3)(+1) PSY: 65(+16)(+2) LUK: 15(+4)(+1) FREE STATPOINTS: None A faint sensation spread throughout his body. Jimin could feel the new stats settling in. Then- He slowly exhaled. All done. Now LP- Suddenly, a conversation nearby pulled him out of his thoughts.
"So," Yuna said while holding one of the potions.
"Where do we get these appraised, guys?" Everyone looked toward her.
"These aren't just basic cores," she continued.
"We got actual loot this time. Gear. Materials. We need to get them appraised for crosschecking."
"Yeah," Min-ji agreed.
"From where else?" said Yu-jun. Everyone looked toward him.
"The nearby E-rank Appraisal Center. It's convenient. And efficient." Jimin quietly nodded. Right… I don't need to step in here. My center is nowhere near this area. He let out a quiet sigh. Convincing these guys and trying to appraise it myself would be a headache anyway. The rest of the party quickly agreed. So, the decision was finally made. Soon afterward, everyone began preparing to leave the Boss room. Their successful boss raid had finally come to an end.
And for the first time in days, the party left the Rift feeling completely satisfied.
The party rushed to the nearby E-Rank Appraisal Center to get their loot appraised. Compared to the place where Jimin worked, this Appraisal Center was much smaller in scale. Still, it was more than sufficient for E-Rank Rifters. The party queued up and completed the appraisal process without any issues. And the results were satisfactory for everyone. Soon afterward, they headed to Golden Scale. The familiar building was busy as always. After completing the exchange process, the final calculation was made.
Most of the values were close to what Jimin had already estimated. The total value of everything came out to approximately 22. 7 million won. Which came down to roughly 3 million won per member after cutting costs. But before they actually went through with exchange- Min-su stared at the Black Wolf Sword for nearly a minute before finally speaking.
"I'll take it." Everyone looked toward him.
"You sure?" Yu-jun asked. Min-su nodded immediately.
"It fits me perfectly." A smile appeared on his face.
"Yeah. I'm definitely taking this." Nobody objected. In fact, Yu-jun also decided to keep the healing potion. Min-ji claimed the mana potion as well. The remaining loot was exchanged normally. And obviously, they compensated the party from their share. After spending some time looking around and chatting, the party eventually parted ways. Jimin left shortly afterward. He went to his Appraisal center, returning later that evening to sell his part of mana cores. Then finally returned to the orphanage.
Later that night- The room was quiet. Jimin was lying on his bed while fiddling with his phone. Yet, thoughts raced in his mind. My balance is 904. 21 million won right now. And I even earned about 20 million won just today. He took a deep breath, as a slight grin spread across his face. If I can keep up this pace, I'll pay off my house sooner. And after that… Maybe even my own office. Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind, his expression slowly becoming thoughtful. Is this really the best option?
His eyes narrowed slightly. I'll be burned out eventually, if I just keep doing this. Raiding Rifts. Appraising items. Running around all day. Doing both jobs simultaneously. And next year... He sighed. I'll have to attend an academy as well. The more he thought about it, the more obvious the issue became. This is the downside of direct-service work. He took a deep breath. I definitely need sources of passive income. Maybe… I should try my hand in investment and some business. Jimin shook his head.
I'll think about it when it's time. Right now, there were more important things. He immediately checked his current LP. [Current LP: 2317]"Damn," he muttered. A satisfied smile appeared.
"I gained a lot today." Then, he opened his skill draft. A window appeared before him immediately. Recently, Jimin had been just prioritizing skills that helped in battles. Because he wanted to clear the Rift smoothly. But now that he had succeeded-"Finally…" he murmured. A grin formed on his face. I can create this. Without any hesitation, he selected and created a skill immediately. Within moments, a notification popped up.
