RISE OF THE SKILLMASTER · S.T.J · 110 chương · ~20 phút đọc · Tạo 29/09/2026
Jimin's enhanced reflexes kicked in just in time. Within an instant, he dashed forward, activating 'Moment of the Skillmaster' while launching all of his daggers straight at the assassin. As Jimin turned, everything around him slowed down. In that dilated moment, he finally realized what had just happened. That wasn't a dash. That was... a short-distance teleport! The daggers were within inches of hitting the assassin. But he was simply too fast. He quickly twisted his body and dashed away, stopping at a distance.
Damn it. How? Suddenly- A sharp sting flared up the assassin's left shoulder. As he checked it, he found a clean cut through his clothes. This bastard… Not only did he dodge my sneak attack, but even managed to counter? But how? Can he sense me? Suddenly, his eyes widened under his hood as the memory of that moment resurfaced in his mind. No… He looked right at me. Straight at my dagger… Can he actually see me?! Nothing made sense to him anymore. He refused to believe it. It's impossible.
If the kid could see through my invisibility, he wouldn't have ended up like that back there. It's not like someone could magically gain the perfect skill to counter me in that short span of time. Suddenly, a notification popped up in front of his eyes. [You have been inflicted with 'Poison'] What? But another window followed right after. ['Poison' has been resisted] He aggressively swept the notification windows aside, his gaze remaining locked tightly onto Jimin. He even has a poison skill?
That's when a realization crossed his mind. He began to recall all of his encounters with Jimin from the very start to the end. This bastard… Telekinesis, barrier, dash, buffs, debuffs, magic, regeneration, enhanced senses, and reflexes… How many skills has he used? No, how does he even have so many skills? He shouldn't even be level 10 yet. This is ridiculous! For the first time since this battle started, the assassin's confidence finally began to wane.
His arrogant, playful demeanor disappeared, replaced by a sudden, tense realization that he was no longer dealing with a helpless prey.
Meanwhile- Jimin was staring back at the assassin with equal intensity. He kept his barrier firmly up, his daggers hovering around, ready to strike any moment. It was a complete standoff, both fighters locked in place, desperately trying to get a perfect read on each other's next move. Jimin had also just received updates from Mimi about his poison being resisted.
"Tch!" he clicked his tongue, his brow furrowing. Even 'Poison' doesn't work on him. He took a slow breath to settle his racing mind. Doesn't matter. There are bigger issues to handle for now… I never expected him to have a teleportation skill. That could have been fatal. A sudden thought crossed his mind. But why didn't he use it earlier? There were quite a few situations where he could use it. Jimin contemplated the reason, but he didn't need more than a moment to deduce the truth. There's only one explanation.
It must be a trump card with a long cooldown… That means it should be on cooldown for a while. A faint grin slowly formed on his face. Right then-"Who the fuck are you?" the assassin suddenly shouted, his voice dripping with pure spite.
"How do you have so many damn skills, you bastard?" Jimin was a bit taken aback by the sudden outburst. Shit. The cat's out of the bag. He has finally noticed. He let out a quiet sigh. Whatever. It was about time anyway. This has been dragging on for too long. I just need to push him just a little bit more.
"You wanna know who I am?" Jimin said with a taunting grin.
"Try asking around in hell." The assassin's expression twisted under the hood.
"What did you say, bastard?" he hissed.
"Oh, my bad. I forgot," Jimin retorted, his tone dripping with mockery.
"You don't try, right? You will." That hit the last nail. The assassin was fuming with rage. You're dead. I'm going to rip your throat out. The assassin immediately cut to the side in his invisible form, leaving his illusion in his stead. But he was much more wary this time. He kept a careful distance, looking for an opening to strike. Jimin's eyes narrowed, as he clearly witnessed the assassin's shenanigans. I can't drag this out any longer. His level is way higher than mine, and there's still a chance his teleportation will come off cooldown. I'll easily lose a battle of attrition… I've to go all out and end this fast. Without any hesitation, he immediately summoned his chakram out of his inventory, activating all his buffs. He launched his weapons right at the invisible assassin.
Jimin locked his eyes directly at him, no longer caring about baiting The assassin was caught completely off guard. What the- He immediately dashed away to avoid the flurry of blades. But the weapons changed their course, following behind him like tracking missiles. Shit! This bastard can actually see me! But the blades were too fast. He couldn't dodge the attack anymore. Clang! Clang! His invisibility wore off, as he frantically parried the incoming daggers with his quick dagger work.
But the rotating chakram followed right after. The assassin blocked it with his crossed daggers. But unlike the daggers, the chakram was heavy. He couldn't parry it that easily. What now! The heavy pressure from the chakram had locked him down. He was completely pinned. Jimin didn't miss the golden opening. He immediately controlled his daggers to stab and cut the assassin from his blind spots. The assassin let out a sharp, painful groan as the steel bit into his flesh.
"Son of a… Bitch," he muttered in a strained voice, forcing the chakram back with great struggle and backing off. But the daggers ruthlessly followed his retreat.
'Poison' triggered again, only to flash another resistance notice in Jimin's vision. Jimin's left eye twitched in pure irritation. But suddenly, Mimi's voice buzzed in mind, " Prodigious Psychic' has reached Level-6.
'Accelerated Thinking' has reached Level-11." A slight grin formed on Jimin's face, as he felt his mind clearing and control sharpening slightly. Just in time. Jimin continued his relentless barrage. His weapons constantly chased the assassin, as the assassin moved around frantically through the fog. Desperate to disrupt Jimin's momentum, the assassin activated his spatial vortex skill. And just like before, two spatial vortexes tore open near Jimin's flanks, launching a pair of dark blades at him.
But Jimin didn't even bat an eye. After all, he had already sensed it. He casually blocked the surprise attack with his barrier without breaking his focus.
"Your tricks are getting old," Jimin taunted loudly.
"Damn you," the assassin shouted back spitefully. This cat and mouse chase continued for a while longer.
Then- Shhhk! Jimin's weapons struck the assassin again, carving clean cuts through his light gear. Blood splattered onto the grass. But before the assassin could stabilize his footing, a flash of a 'Fireshot' erupted from Jimin's palm. It slammed into his side, scorching him and his robes. Hurt and completely pushed to the wall, the assassin frantically backed away. The battle continued with brutal intensity.
Jimin quietly reached into his inventory, summoning a heavy throwing lance to hover just behind his shoulder, patiently waiting for another opening. The consecutive cuts from his daggers were finally beginning to stack up their effects. The assassin's movements were turning sluggish. At one point-"'Paralysis' has been successfully triggered," Mimi notified Jimin. The assassin's entire body had frozen mid-stride. Jimin locked in instantly. There it is.
Activating 'Moment of the skillmaster', he immediately shot his buffed lance forward. Everything snapped back to normal. CRACK! The lance drove straight through the center of the assassin's chest armor, pushing backward and ruthlessly pinning him to the trunk of a huge tree. The assassin lay there, pinned against the wood, coughing up a torrent of blood as he screamed and groaned in an agonizing voice. This is bad. Then, a sudden realization came across him.
That guy should be keeping a watch on the situation right now. Then, why hasn't he stepped in yet? I know I told him not to interfere. But this is an emergency situation, damn it.
"Hey!" His voice rose in an agitated, furious screech.
"What the fuck are you doing, you useless bastard? Do something now!" Jimin let out a quiet, mocking chuckle.
"Are you looking for your friend? The portal user?" The assassin's posture stiffened.
"What?"
"Don't bother," Jimin snarked, his voice chillingly calm.
"He has already melted and vaporized into thin air." The assassin's eyes widened in sheer horror. He killed him? He's dead! Then, how will I escape? No, there's no way. He's lying. But then he fully realized what Jimin said. But how would he know about the melting and vaporizing then… Shit!
"You damn Mother… Fucker!" He cursed violently, his voice cracking with rage as the reality of his situation set in. Jimin stepped forward. He controlled his daggers to cleanly cut the assassin's ankles and lodge them into his joints to incapacitate him further, completely neutralizing any remaining physical threat. The assassin kept groaning in pain, sitting completely still.
"Now, let's see who you are," Jimin muttered. He telekinetically lifted the hood straight off the killer's head, exposing his face to the light. The assassin was a young Western boy, barely in his late-teens, with pale skin and not so sharp features. His face was completely distorted in pure malice, his mouth foaming with blood. Jimin stared at him for a second before letting out a flat dismissive snort.
"Hmm… You are uglier than I imagined."
"You fucking piece of shit!" the assassin lashed out with a ragged voice and desperate growl.
"I'm going to tear your throat out! I'll skin you alive!" Before he could continue his verbal assault, Jimin's chakram cleanly sliced through his right arm, severing it before flying back to Jimin, spinning in the air beside him. Blood splattered everywhere.
"You…" The assassin groaned in absolute agony, his bloodshot eyes turning completely red with a crazed, murderous rage. Suddenly, a wave of that familiar black-red ominous energy began to burst off of the assassin, quickly drying and darkening the tree and grass around him, as if life had been sucked out of them. But it was nothing more than the last flailing of a fish out of water. It's over. All over. It's about to start. I can feel it… But I can't die like this. I need to know...
He glared at Jimin, his teeth grinding so hard they threatened to shatter.
"Who the hell are you… What the hell are you?" he gasped out, his chest heaving frantically.
"How can a low-level have this many skills? What is this power? What's your secret? Tell me!" Jimin watched the red-blackish aura flare aggressively, realizing he was about to die. I need to end this right now, in case that energy triggers something else.
"You really want to know how I have this many skills?" Jimin asked, his voice turning serious. The assassin's blood-stained expression twisted in desperate anticipation, his eyes locking onto Jimin as he waited for the secret. Jimin gave him a cold smile.
"Why would I tell you? Die in suspense," he said. Hearing this, as the assassin's look of anticipation crumbled into an empty stare, the spinning chakram cleanly sliced through the assassin's neck. The severed head rolled down into the assassin's own lap. Jimin's eyes didn't waver for a moment, as he looked straight at the corpse ahead of him. He let out a sigh of relief. It's finally over.
