Chương 84: THE GOBLIN CHIEF (2)

In the meantime, the rest of the party had been playing their role pretty well. Min-ji and Yuna had finally finished preparing their enhanced Flame Burst. A large sphere of raging flames swirled violently near Min-ji's staff. The heat radiating from it was enough to make the surrounding air distort slightly. The goblin swordsmen were still fully occupied with Yu-jun, Min-su and Gun-woo. None of them noticed what was coming.

"Now!" Min-ji shouted. The moment the signal came, Yu-jun and the other two immediately jumped backward. The goblins looked momentarily confused. Then, the massive fireball shot forward. Boom! The spell landed directly in the middle of the group. A deafening noise from the explosion, echoed throughout the room. Flames engulfed the goblin sworsmen. The bodies of the goblins that were caught at the center exploded instantly. They barely had time to scream before being consumed by the explosion.

The ones farther away were slightly luckier. Only slightly. Several goblins scattered across the room while burning. Others rolled across the ground screaming in agony. The smell of burnt flesh quickly filled the cave.

"Finish them!" Yu-jun shouted.

"On it!" Min-su charged first. His sword came down heavily. One goblin lost its head instantly. Gun-woo followed right after. A spear thrust pierced through another goblin's chest. Within seconds, the remaining survivors were put down one after another. The frontline had been completely wiped out. Not a single swordsman remained.

Meanwhile- Jimin was pressing his temple lightly. A faint headache lingered inside his head.

"I'll try-" But before he could finish his sentence, the Goblin Chief suddenly squatted. Jimin's eyes widened, as he noticed it immediately.

"Shit," he muttered. The Goblin Chief launched itself through the air.

"Fall back, guys!" Jimin shouted. The entire party instinctively reacted. They retreated immediately. A split second later- Boom! Its massive body had crossed the distance surprisingly quickly. It landed where the party had been standing moments earlier. The impact shook the floor. Stone cracked beneath its feet. Dust scattered in all directions. The Chief immediately let out another roar. But it didn't move.

"Maintain your distance, everyone!" Jimin shouted. His mind raced rapidly. I gotta hurry. But it'll be useless if he blocks my lance... The Chief had already proven it could react to his attacks. A simple frontal assault wasn't enough. He took a deep breath. I need their help. Without wasting any time, Jimin immediately took his lance out of his inventory.

He continued, "But I need you guys to divert its attention in the meantime!" Everyone instantly understood their assignment. So, they nodded. No further explanation was necessary. Dong-hyun moved first. He immediately buffed Yu-jun's Defense.

"Defense Boost!" A faint glow wrapped around Yu-jun. Yu-jun felt his body become sturdier. A grin appeared on his face.

"Nice." Then, he charged with his shield up.

"Hey, ugly! Eyes on me, you lazy shit!" The Taunt worked. The Goblin Chief noticed him immediately. Its ugly face twisted with rage. Then, the Chief raised its club. And quickly swung downward. Yu-jun's eyes widened. Then- Clang! He managed to parry the strike successfully. But his smirk disappeared instantly.

"Damnit," he muttered. Its attacks are heavy. Without hesitation, he jumped backward and created distance. The Chief raised its club again. Preparing another strike. But suddenly- Thwack! An arrow buried itself directly into its eye. The Goblin Chief froze. Then immediately groaned. It staggered backward several steps. Blood began pouring from the wound. At the rear, Hye-jin calmly lowered her bow.

"Bull's eye," she murmured. A proud smile appeared on her face. Then, she immediately reached for another arrow. The Goblin Chief roared furiously. Its hand grabbed the shaft. Then, it violently ripped the arrow out. Blood gushed down its ugly face. The sight only made it look more disgusting. ROOOAAARRR! The Chief roared at the party once again. But suddenly- A fireball slammed directly into its face. Boom! The explosion covered its entire head. Smoke erupted everywhere. The Chief stumbled backward.

Its club slipped from its grip and crashed onto the floor. Clang! The giant immediately grabbed its face. Rubbing furiously. Trying to recover. At the rear, Min-ji and Yuna high-fived each other.

"Yay!"

Meanwhile- Jimin's entire focus had remained on the lance floating before him. I need to put everything into this attack.

'Overtime' and 'Weight Distortion' were already active. But that wasn't enough. He further applied 'Pierce' and 'Poison' to his lance. Then, Jimin immediately began injecting mana into it, triggering its special effect. The lancehead began spinning. Faster. And faster. And faster. Then, Jimin added telekinesis on top of it. His full concentration focused on accelerating the rotation further. The lancehead continued accelerating. Its rotational force became increasingly terrifying. It's ready.

Right then, the fireball hit the Goblin Chief's face. And a grin spread across Jimin's face. Good job, guys… Now, it's my turn.

The Goblin Chief let go off his hands, revealing its burnt face. Most of the skin around its eyes and nose had burned away. Smoke still rose from the charred flesh. It was about to roar again. But right then- Jimin's lance shot forward. The weapon tore through the air like a drill. The spinning lancehead produced a shrill screech as it accelerated. The Goblin Chief couldn't even notice it in time. The lance slammed directly into the roof of its mouth.

The spinning lancehead drilled through flesh, bone and skull without stopping. Blood erupted from the wound. The spearhead burst out from the back of its head before embedding itself halfway through. The Goblin Chief froze. And slowly dropped onto both knees. Then, its enormous body crashed forward onto the ground with a loud thud. For half a second nobody moved. Then reality finally caught up to everyone.

"Yes!" Yu-jun shouted. He raised his shield overhead.

"We did it! We won!" The tension that had been building finally exploded.

"We actually killed it!"

"Haha!"

"Let's go!" The girls cheered excitedly. Min-su immediately wrapped an arm around Gun-woo. Dong-hyun stood behind them with a relieved smile while clapping quietly. Even Hye-jin's usually calm face showed visible excitement. Only Jimin remained relatively quiet. He seemed to be focused on something. But there was still a grin visible on his face.

"I am now Level- 6 as well." The lie rolled out naturally. Yeah. This is better. Then-"Me too," Dong-hyun suddenly spoke up. And everyone's attention shifted away from Jimin instantly. Min-su immediately patted Dong-hyun on the back. Jimin felt relieved. This is good. The focus won't be on me.

"Congrats to you both," said everyone in unison.

"Thanks," Jimin and Dong-hyun replied together. The celebration continued for another minute. Gun-woo suddenly looked at Jimin.

"Damn, bro. You're seriously strong for someone at this level. Only if-" Yu-jun immediately elbowed Gun-woo lightly. And Jimin simply chuckled awkwardly, acting normal. I'll distribute the stat points later. Let's focus on the loot first.

In the meantime, the Goblin Chief's corpse had completely vaporized, leaving behind its mana core. And a big brown chest had appeared over its throne as well. Golden aura briefly flashed around it.

"But why take a chance?" He looked around.

"Who has the highest LUK among us?" Everyone instinctively looked at one another. Jimin sighed. No harm in trying.

"I'll give it a shot," he said. No one objected at all.

"All yours," said everyone, as they pointed at the chest. Everyone stepped aside dramatically while pointing toward the chest. Jimin stared at the chest for a moment. Then, he shook his head. Here goes nothing.
