How can this be possible? He would need more than 60% of my PSY to negate 'Interrogation'... That means his PSY had to be at least 40. Jimin was in absolute disbelief. Even if the killer's level was vastly superior to his own, the man was clearly an assassin type. Why on earth would an assassin have PSY above 40?
"It did not fail due to a difference in stats, Master," Mimi's voice buzzed in his mind, cutting through his confusion.
"Some sort of unknown energy had interfered." Jimin's brow furrowed. That ominous energy again… It's completely unknown even to the system. His expression twisted in frustration.
"Just what is this energy?" he muttered. But a sudden, sharp throb of pain from his wounded torso dragged his focus back to the current situation. No. This isn't the time to think about that. I have to hurry… That hooded bastard is dangerous enough and there might be more like him. If that's truly the case, my party… No. All of us are in grave danger. He dismissed the barrier, as his gaze fell on the bloody severed wound on his right arm, a sigh escaping him. First comes fixing the injuries.
I need to be in one piece to even put up a fight… He quickly checked his 'Life Bank' reserves. [Life Bank: 118 / 118 HP] Jimin absorbed every single drop of the stored HP, checking his main health bar. [HP: 283 / 500] No. This isn't nearly enough. He took a deep breath.
'Regenerative Healing' Active mode.
"Active mode is on," Mimi notified him. Mimi, how long will it take my arm to fully grow back?
"Calculating time… Six hours."
"That long!" Jimin muttered, his jaw tightening.
"I don't have that much time."
"It will only take about 10 minutes if you re-attach your lost arm," Mimi added. A flash of hope returned to Jimin's eyes. That's better. He looked ahead, his eyes locking on his severed arm laying on the grass a meter away. He immediately used 'Telekinesis' to pull it toward him. He grabbed it with his other arm and attached it to the wound, holding it firmly in place.
"Limb restoration has been initiated." Jimin quickly summoned a healing potion from his inventory, using telekinesis to gulp it down in an instant. Then, he cast 'Heal' directly onto his chest wound. A soothing warmth spread rapidly through his chest, his wounds slowly closing up. Yet, the anxious expression on his face didn't fade. No. It's still not fast enough. The assassin was already on his way to his party. He couldn't afford to just sit there for ten minutes while his teammates fought for their lives.
How much would it cost to double and triple the healing speed, Mimi?
"Calculating cost…" Mimi responded instantly.
"1200 LP for double and 3000 LP for triple." Jimin didn't hesitate. Alright. Double it.
"Editing 'Regenerative Healing'..."
Within a minute, Jimin saved the edited version and a notification window popped up right before his eyes.
['Regenerative Healing' Successfully Edited] Total LP: 1958 A sudden surge of warmth and energy rushed through Jimin's body.
"Healing speed has doubled. About 4 minutes remaining till your arm is restored," Mimi updated. Jimin let out a long breath of relief. It's already starting to feel much better. With that, his physical injuries were taken care of. But a much bigger issue still remained. Jimin stared at his healing arm wound, his eyes narrowing. Now, how do I counter this hooded bastard? He immersed himself in contemplation, coming up with a counter-strategy while his body took its time to heal.
He began remembering the brief bout he just had. The first one was definitely an illusion. Maybe that's why 'Inspect' showed no info. Jimin had been wondering why his appraisal had failed the first time, and this was the conclusion he came to. It was simply a technical flaw of the skill.
'Inspect' was designed to analyze living beings, not effects or constructs born from skills. For a moment, he thought about tweaking that specific part of 'Inspect' so that it could detect illusions. But then a realization dawned on him. No, that can wait… I can't keep using active Inspection every single second just to check if a clone is fake. And then there's his damn invisibility skill that I still have to deal with. Jimin raced his mind. And a few moments later, an even better idea came across his mind.
Wouldn't a passive skill that tackles both at the same time be better? Without wasting any more moment, Jimin opened his skill creation window. With Mimi's assistance, he came up with the details of a new skill, its window floating before his eyes. Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
[Skill: True Vision] Category: Passive Type: Perception Rank: Rare Level: 1/50 Description: Allows the user to see through high-level stealth, invisibility, and illusions. Enhances 'Detection' to detect stealthy targets. Scaling: Scales with INT and WIS. Cooldown: None Cost: None Required LP: 580 [Create] [Edit] [Draft] [Delete] Yeah. This is exactly what I need. Without any hesitation, Jimin confirmed the skill's creation.
[Skill Successfully Created]'True vision' – Acquired. Total LP: 1378 Jimin closed his eyes for a second, a tingling sensation swirling around his eyes. I wish I had something to test it on right now… But another crucial detail suddenly crossed his mind. The blades that shot out from those vortexes. … I don't know if it's that assassin's skill or the one with the portal skill. But if it is, it can pose a problem. And if there are a number of people like him, I may even get ambushed while fighting…
If they are as fast as him, I may not even have time to counter.
Spatial awareness isn't gonna be enough. Jimin was in a serious dilemma, racing his mind to find a solution. Then, a thought suddenly crossed his mind. Wait… What if I can sense the intent before the attack even happens? Something… that can help me sense imminent danger. He immediately got to work alongside Mimi and after much editing, they came with the draft of another skill.
[Skill: Danger Sense] Category: Passive Type: Perception Rank: Custom Description: Allows the user to sense imminent danger beforehand with precise time and directional accuracy. Intensity is proportional to the degree of imminent danger. When triggered, it will automatically activate 'Enhanced Reflexes'. And if the threat approaches at extreme speeds, 'Moment of the Skillmaster' will also be triggered, Scaling: Scales with INT and WIS.
Cooldown: None Cost: None Required LP: 420 [Create] [Edit] [Draft] [Delete] This is it. Create. A notification window appeared before him.
[Skill Successfully Created]'Danger sense' – Acquired. Total LP: 958 A tingling sensation lingered in his head for a few seconds, before disappearing.
"Your arm has been fully restored," Mimi notified Jimin.
"Your body has been completely healed. HP bar is currently full." Jimin's eyes drifted toward his right arm. He flexed his wrist, testing its functionality. He twirled his ankles, but felt no lingering stiffness. The tingling pain in his chest and spine had also vanished entirely. A notification suddenly popped up. ['Life Bank' has reached Lv. 8]"Alright," Jimin muttered, quickly pushing himself up from the grass. But the moment he stood up, a sudden wave of dizziness hit him, making his feet stumble over the dirt.
What?
"Low stamina warning. Active regeneration has severely drained your Stamina and Mana," Mimi said, immediately flashing his status profile.
HP: 500/500 STA: 13/315 MP: 51/480 PE: 173/765 Dammit. The resource cost completely slipped my mind. He was practically running on empty. Without wasting a single moment, he completely drained all accumulated resources from his reservoir skills, pulling the stored essence into his main bars. A surge of energy spread through his body, clearing his head. He instantly felt more refreshed.
HP: 500/500 STA: 102/315 MP: 171/480 PE: 366/765 Looking at the numbers, Jimin clicked his tongue.
"Tch." This won't do. I am still too low on resources. He immediately summoned two vials of potions and gulped them down in quick succession, instantly recovering 150 points of both Stamina and Mana.
'Meditation' will handle recovering some more in the meantime. Jimin began to stretch his body, jogging and jumping up to check his body's overall condition. Hmm… Everything seems fine. Now, just a couple of things left to do. He activated 'Quick change', unsummoning his tattered chest armor and shredded cloak, before summoning them back onto his hands to take a look at them. They were in absolutely terrible condition from the brutal assault.
He immediately appraised both items, watching the window display a grim reality. The durability on both pieces of gear had dropped significantly. Due to the extreme damage, the stat bonuses and passive effects were completely unavailable. Shit… These are my best gear. His jaw tightened. Even if these can't protect me from that assassin's attacks, the stat bonuses and special effects are absolutely crucial. I can't fight those people without these.
He quickly activated 'Repair', casting it multiple times in rapid succession to repair both to usable condition. But he couldn't afford to focus entirely on just fixing his gear. Time was running out. While repairing the gear, he called out Mimi. How much will it cost to add another charge to 'Dash' and reduce its cooldown to 10 seconds? And how much to increase the weight limit of 'Telekinesis' by an extra 10 kilos?
"Calculating costs…" Mimi said smoothly.
"It will require 410 LP for 'Dash' and 320 LP for 'Telekinesis'." Jimin wasted no time. Edit both. Within a few moments, windows of the edited version appeared before Jimin. He confirmed them without hesitation.
['Dash' and 'Telekinesis' Successfully Edited] Total LP: 228 The repairs on his equipment were also finished by then. Jimin stood up, immediately putting the repaired armor and cloak back onto his body, summoning his four daggers. Just one last thing… Mimi, you translating every time for me is a hassle. It would be better if I could understand and speak the language naturally myself.
"Understood, Master. Creating skill…" Mimi said. Soon, a detailed window of the new skill appeared.
[Skill: Language Comprehension] Category: Passive Type: Utility Rank: Custom Description: Allows the user to naturally comprehend and speak any language available in the 'Intelligent System Assistant's database. Works with the Assistant to provide seamless real-time translation. Cooldown: None Cost: None Required LP: 120 [Create] [Edit] [Draft] [Delete] Damn, Mimi.
"Thanks, Master." Jimin created it without any hesitation.
[Skill Successfully Created]'Language Comprehension' – Acquired. Total LP: 108
"Alright," he murmured, testing the increased power of his telekinesis with the daggers.
"This should be enough." He took a deep breath, sprinting forward. It's time to find my party.
