Outside the training area, Everyone sensed the massive amount of chakra coming out of the training grounds, Inoichi looked at the room through a window and mumbled, "Toru was not wrong when he said that the boy had mammoth amount of chakra and was pretty good using it to suppress others." He shook his head slightly in amazement. Shikaku stood nearby and turned to his friend.
"Choza you got yourself quite a handful of a genin." Han, who was standing opposite them, looked in the same direction. His surprise was hidden by his mask.
"That's what... I was feeling off about that boy. This much chakra at his age without being a jinchuriki.... incredible," he mumbled.
Meguri looked at Shunsui who had now defeated his thirteenth trainee samurai. The young shinobi stood in the center of the sparring area, breathing steadily despite the long series of fights. He was asking for better opponents, not just trainees but real samurai who had completed their training.
"You want to fight real Samurai?" Meguri asked with a raised eyebrow. He studied the boy carefully, surprised by his boldness after so many victories. Was it overconfidence? He did not think so. Shunsui replied respectfully, "I mean no disrespect but I am a shinobi. These here are trainees who have not become fully fledged Samurai but I am already a shinobi. It feels unfair to me that I am facing them for the test to show my skills. I would like to face real Samurai." Meguri considered the request for a moment.
As a samurai, he could respect the boy's words but his gut feeling told him, there was more to it. He nodded slowly and said, "That's why you were given the disadvantage of not using your regular shinobi skills but very well, I might have underestimated the strength of the genin shinobi from the great villages." He realized that these young visitors from the major hidden villages had more talent than he first thought. Their training was clearly very advanced.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings. He then nodded toward a samurai who had recently become a full fledged one. The chosen samurai stepped forward into the sparring area to face Shunsui. Shunsui smiled as he prepared for the new fight. He thought, 'Good that worked out well. I can now learn the flash step properly and also some other tricks from these Samurais. I have already gotten some basics from the trainees but I still have not learned flash step.'
This was a perfect chance for him to pick up new skills by watching and copying the movements of real Samurai. The samurai that was now facing him bowed toward him which Shunsui reciprocated with respect. The full fledged samurai took out his swords which started flowing with chakra. The blades were practically enveloped with chakra just like how they were in the anime when the Samurai fought in the fourth great ninja war. Shunsui smirked as he thought, 'Now that's what I am talking about. Show me the good stuff.'
He got into a ready stance, excited to face this stronger opponent and absorb as much as he could from the fight. Seeing Shunsui fight higher level fighters, Guy asked for the same opportunity. He wanted to push himself against real samurai too. The Iwa shinobi who did not want to let Konoha team outshine them also decided to ask for better opponents. Genma on the other hand did not ask for other opponents.
He was very limited during the spar and he understood that the real test was to see how long they would last not how strong opponents they would be beating. As Meguri watched the spars especially Shunsui's, he recognised something as the boy dragged the fight longer than required against the samurai. The head samurai of the Daimyō observed every movement closely from his position. Shunsui was not just fighting to win quickly.
Instead, he seemed to be studying his opponent, matching moves and learning in the middle of battle. Each exchange of blows lasted a bit longer than necessary, as if the genin was testing different approaches on purpose. In the next fight, Meguri noticed how Shunsui moved his feet with sudden bursts of speed. The boy was clearly trying to copy the samurai's special movement techniques. It was not perfect yet, but the effort was there. Meguri leaned forward slightly, his interest growing with every second.
The other samurai in the match was skilled, using swordsmanship that had been taught through years of training. Yet Shunsui kept up remarkably well for someone so young. Meguri watched as Shunsui continued to adapt. The genin dodged and countered in ways that mirrored the samurai style more and more. It became obvious that this was not random luck. The boy was learning actively during the spar. This level of quick adaptation surprised Meguri greatly.
'I have seen many fighters in my three decades as a samurai, but few have showed this kind of talent at such a young age.'He thought. Shunsui would block a strike and then immediately try a similar move himself. The samurai opponent looked focused but also a bit taken aback by how fast the boy was improving.
'There is no doubt about it. The boy is copying our techniques,' Meguri thought with growing amazement. The boy was trying to learn their Kenjutsu style, movement technique as well as their unique sword chakra augmentation. Meguri was sure that the boy would not be able to learn it today by just sparring. But the progress that he had made was astonishing to sya the least.
'It would take Samurais years of work but this boy might be able to learn these techniques in months time at best. What talent!' He thought Meguri's lieutenant who was also watching Shunsui could not help but mumble, "A true prodigy, it is as if I am witnessing the birth of a new Shimotsuki Ryuma, the legendary samurai."
