The train finally arrived back in Azuma City. After saying their goodbyes, everyone made their way back toward the guild. Mochi stretched as they entered.
"Man... I'm exhausted." A few minutes later, Mochi reached his room and pushed the door open.
"Alright... time to rest!" He stepped inside. Ace approached from behind.
"Hey, idiot! Don't lock the door. I need to get in too!" The door shut. Ace sighed.
"But Mochi had already closed it..." He grabbed the handle.
"At least you didn't lock it." The moment Ace opened the door, he heard a heavy thud. His eyes widened.
"Mochi?!" Mochi was lying unconscious on the floor. Ace rushed over and crouched beside him.
"Mochi!" He grabbed his shoulders and shook him.
"What happened?! Wake up!" Nothing.
"Mochi!" Amelia, Thomas, and Tony rushed toward the room after hearing the commotion. Thomas looked down. This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version.
"What happened?"
"I don't know!" Ace said.
"He just collapsed!" Tony immediately knelt beside Mochi and examined him.
"Hmm..." He placed a paw against Mochi's chest, then checked his magic energy. His expression became serious.
"He's suffering from magic burnout." Thomas frowned.
"Magic burnout?" Tony nodded.
"It happens when someone releases huge amounts of magic in too short a period of time." He looked at Mochi.
"Luckily, this isn't severe magic burnout. If it were, he could have died." Amelia looked relieved.
"So he'll be okay?" Tony hesitated.
"Eventually... but treating it won't be as simple as letting him sleep." Thomas frowned.
"Why?" Tony pointed toward Mochi.
"His magic has completely frozen at zero. His body currently can't absorb magic particles, meaning he can't naturally recover his magic energy." Ace's expression changed.
"So what do we do?" Tony sighed.
"We need to make a special potion using a Chroma Flower."
"Its a plant which is commonly used to treat this kind of stuff" Thomas asked,"And where do we find one of those?" Tony looked serious.
"In Herwasha Forest." Amelia blinked.
"That's it?" Tony shook his head.
"It's also known as Dead Man's Bush. People don't usually come out alive." Amelia's expression dropped.
"... Oh." She quickly recovered.
"Then we'll just buy one, it's just a flower how much can it be?." Tony nodded.
"That's possible. They're extremely rare because of how dangerous they are to obtain." He paused.
"One Chroma Flower usually sells for around twenty gold gilm." Amelia's eyes widened.
"Twenty?! That's insane!" Tony nodded.
"Exactly." Ace looked toward Mochi.
"Then we'll go into the forest." Everyone looked at him.
"We don't have a choice." Thomas smiled slightly.
"Well, since when were you so concerned about Mochi?" Ace immediately turned around.
"What?! No way! You're going crazy or something, Gramps." Thomas laughed.
"Alright, alright." He looked between Ace and Amelia.
"You two will retrieve the Chroma Flower. Tony and I will stay here and take care of Mochi." Thomas smiled.
"I hope I can trust you." Amelia nodded confidently.
"You got it." Ace sighed.
"Fine." Amelia smiled at him.
"Looking forward to working with you again." Ace looked away.
"Yeah... likewise." Tony suddenly raised a paw.
"Oh, I almost forgot." He pulled out a small glass container.
"The Chroma Flower is extremely delicate and difficult to preserve. Take this bottle with you and be careful." Ace reached for it.
"Got it." Tony pulled the bottle away.
"On second thought..." He handed it to Amelia.
"I'd rather trust Amelia." Ace stared at him.
"Really..." Tony nodded.
"You're too much of a brute. You'll probably crush it the second you touch it." Ace's eye twitched.
"... Fine." Amelia carefully secured the bottle.
"Don't worry. I'll take care of it." Thomas smiled.
"Good luck, you two." He looked toward the forest beyond the city.
"And stay safe." Ace and Amelia nodded before heading toward the exit. Their next destination: Herwasha Forest.
