Chương 21: Behold, the infinite wall!

Ace ignored her and leaped into the air. Flames erupted around his body.

"Now feel my power!"

"MAGIC SKILL: FIRE TORNADO!" A massive tornado of blue fire spiraled toward Roofus and Flint. The crowd gasped. The attack was huge. But Roofus and Flint didn't move. Roofus grinned"Well then, shall we?" Flints nodded"Yeah, let's show them our true power!" They then placed their palms together.

"MAGIC SKILL: INFINITE WALL!" A transparent golden barrier appeared before them. The Fire Tornado slammed into it.. Fire exploded everywhere. The field shook. Smoke filled the air. Then the smoke cleared. They were unharmed. Ace's eyes widened.

"No way..." Roofus grinned.

"That's our infinite wall."

"It nullifies any attack hurled at us.." Amelia stepped forward.

"Well do you think it cans stop this?" She gathered magical energy into both hands. Then she palced them together..

"MAGIC SKILL: CRACKER MISSILE!" Several explosive projectiles shot forward. The missiles hammered the barrier again and again. Smoke covered everything again. When it cleared... The wall remained. Not a scratch. Amelia blinked The barrier still stood..

"... Seriously?" she said a little agitated Flint smiled.

"What's wrong?."

"Had enough?" Ace clicked his tongue.

"Tch." Then he charged. His fist slammed into the barrier. BANG! Nothing. He punched again. BANG! Nothing. Again. BANG! Nothing. The wall didn't even ripple. Ace growled.

"What is this thing made of?!" Roofus laughed.

"This is our guilds signature move, the infinite wall, I've told you once and I'll do it again, you'll never breakthrough." Flint shrugged.

"It's true." Ace ignored them and continued attacking. He drew his blade as he sliced The barrier absorbed everything. Amelia joined in. The two launched a relentless barrage. BOOM! CRASH! BANG! "They're getting tired." Tony nodded.

"Meanwhile those two farm crop guys haven't moved an inch atall so far." Thomas watched silently.. Roofus and Flint remained comfortably behind the barrier. Not attacking. Not moving. They were simply waiting.. Ace unleashed another flaming blast.. He cupped his hands to his mouth.

"MAGIC SKILL: FLAMETHROWER!" The roaring inferno roard towards the barrier as they collided.. The barrier remained untouched. Amelia followed up.

"MAGIC SKILL: CRACKER BULLETS!" An explosion erupted. Nothing happened. Ace stumbled backward breathing heavily.

"Damn it..." Amelia leaned forward with her hands on her knees, she sweat..

"This thing is ridiculous..."

"We've attacked so many times and have gotten no results.." Thomas watched quietly from the sidelines. Then he finally spoke.

"So that's their plan..." Mochi and Tony looked at him. Thomas continued to watch..

"They aren't trying to beat Ace and Amelia immediately." Mochi crossed his arms.

"What do you mean by that old man?" Thomas looked toward Roofus and Flint.

"They're draining our energy."

"By having us waste it on completely nothing.." Ace launched another punch. The barrier held. Thomas continued.

"They know it takes more energy to consume attacking than defending."

"They keep forcing us to attack." Tony's eyes widened in shock.

"So they're making Ace and Amelia tire themselves out?" Thomas nodded.

"Exactly that." His expression darkened.

"They'll keep defending until our fighters become sitting ducks." As if hearing him, Roofus smiled from behind the barrier.

"Looks like your leader figured it out." Flint cracked his knuckles.

"And once they're exhausted..." The barrier slowly disappeared. Roofus stepped forward. A dangerous grin spreading across his face.

"... that's when we go for the kill." Ace's eyes narrowed. The golden barrier of Infinite Wall finally faded away. Roofus stretched his neck.

"Man, that was relaxing." Flint cracked his knuckles.

"Ready?" Roofus smirked.

"Let's harvest." Ace wiped sweat from his forehead. Despite his exhaustion, he grinned.

"Finally." Amelia took a fighting stance beside him.

"Be careful." Roofus suddenly vanished. Ace's eyes widened.

"They're fast.." At the same moment Flint disappeared as well. Thomas immediately noticed.

"They're splitting up." Ace quickly turned left. Flint was rushing toward him. Meanwhile Amelia looked right. Roofus was charging toward her. Green energy began gathering around both Farm Crop members. The energy swirled around their legs. Growing brighter. Growing stronger. Roofus and Flint exchanged a glance. Then shouted together.

"MAGIC SKILL: GRAND HARVEST!" The green energy exploded outward. Both fighters launched themselves forward simultaneously. Roofus aimed directly for Amelia. Flint aimed directly for Ace. Their legs glowed with brilliant green energy as they aimed for a sliding tackle. The power behind the attacks distorted the air itself. Amelia raised her arms. Too late. CRAAASH! Roofus's foot slammed into Amelia's ankle. The impact launched her backward across the field.

"Agh!" She bounced along the dirt before rolling to a stop. At the same time Flint's kick collided with Ace. Ace managed to brace himself. But the force still pushed him several feet backwards. His boots carved trenches through the soil. Mochi's eyes widened.

"That was strong." Tony gulped.

"Really strong."

"Do you think they can win?" Roofus landed gracefully. Flint landed beside him.

"Is that alll you've got?"

"I watched your performance in that tournament which just happened""I don't know about the girl but you were performing much better than this" He pointed at Ace.. Ace slowly stood up breathing hard"Is that so huh?"

"I have no idea what I did back there, when I was in that form I felt hotter than the sun itself""But I can't do it again and I have no clue why.." Amelia looked between their opponents and Ace. Then an idea came to her.

"Hey Ace." Ace turned his head to face Amelia.

"What?"

"I have an Idea, to win and break through the infinite wall!"

"We need to combine our attacks." Ace immediately shook his head.

"Combine our attacks?."

"That's not happening.." Amelia blinked.

"What?"

"I said no way." The green energy around Roofus and Flint continued growing. Amelia looked increasingly nervous.

"Ace, please. They're stronger when they work together."

"So?"

"So we should work together too!" Ace scoffed.

"I don't need teamwork." Amelia clenched her fists.

"Ace..."

"I'll handle my side. You handle yours."

"We've been doing that before and look where we are now!" Ace frowned.

"And?" Amelia stepped closer.

"We're losing!" Ace looked away.

"I don't care if we're losing."

"Give me space and I'll defeat them.." Amelia stared at him in disbelief.

"You don't care?"

"I'll win my way if I have too." Ace said crossing his arms"Ace, please."

"No way I said."

"If I can't win this measly little fight on my own..

"I don't need help I told you already multiple times""And especially from a little girl like you!" Something snapped. Amelia's eyes widened. Then narrowed. For the first time since joining the Voyagers Guild... She raised her voice.

"WOULD YOU STOP BEING SO DAMN STUBBORN FOR ONCE?!" The battlefield went silent. Everyone froze. Mochi's jaw dropped. Tony nearly fell over. Thomas stared in awe.. Slowly. Very slowly.

"... Oh." Even Roofus and Flint looked surprised. Amelia was breathing heavily. Her hands trembled. But she didn't stop.

"You keep acting like you're the only person here!" Ace stared at her. Completely caught off guard.

"You refuse to trust anyone!" Amelia pointed at him.

"You think asking for help makes you weak!" Ace's eyes widened slightly.

"You think fighting alone makes you strong!" The entire battlefield remained silent. Nobody had ever heard Amelia talk like this.

"Being strong isn't doing everything yourself you know!" Her voice cracked slightly.

"It's trusting the people standing beside you!"

"This is a 2v2 match for a reason!" Mochi looked stunned. Tony whispered.

"Since when could Amelia be scary?" Thomas nodded.

"She does have a point though." Amelia continued.

"We're your teammates, Ace!" She clenched her fists.

"We're trying to help you!" Her eyes watered slightly.

"And every time we reach out, you push us away like we're some kind of strangers!" Ace didn't say a word. For the first time all day... He looked genuinely shaken. Amelia lowered her head. Her voice became quieter.

"Yes, we may of not know eachother for every long... but.."

"We're supposed to be a guild..." She looked back up.

"So start acting like part of one." Then there was silence. Even the wind seemed to stop. Ace stared at her. Then looked away. For once... He didn't have a comeback." Thomas smirked.

"That girl is a feisty one indeed." Tony shivered.

"I don't want to see that side of her again." A few moments passed. Then Ace let out a long sigh. Everyone looked at him. Ace rubbed the back of his neck. Then looked directly at Amelia. She wasn't backing down. Not this time. Ace scoffed.

"... Fine." Amelia blinked.

"Huh?"

"If it means this much to you..." He crossed his arms.

"... I'll follow your lead I guess." For a moment Amelia simply stared. Then a huge smile spread across her face.

"Really?"

"Just don't make me regret it." Amelia nodded enthusiastically.

"Great!"

"Thanks alot Ace!" She took her battle stance once more. The determination had returned to her eyes.

"Now then let's win." Beside her, Ace smirked.

"Yeah.." Across the field, Roofus and Flint exchanged glances. For the first time since the battle started... The Voyagers looked united. And that made them far more dangerous than before. For the first time in the battle, their stances were perfectly synchronized. Flint watched carefully.

"Something seems to has changed inside of them captain." Roofus nodded"Indeed, it's like a brand new fire has been lit inside of them""But whether it will change the outcome of this battle, we'll have to find out" Flitts nodded"Very well, shall we do another grand harvest?" Roofus said"Nah, let's crank it up a notch""And initiate Reaper's bounty"
