A few days later, Mochi was packing his things in a small, quiet corner of his room. It wasn't easy leaving behind everything they had just fought for, but the world was still out there waiting for them, and the journey had only just begun. He was carefully folding up his belongings when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around, surprised to see Amelia standing there, a determined look on her face.
"What's up?" he asked, curious about her sudden approach. Amelia fiddled with her hair as she denied eye contact with Mochi Amelia looked at him, her expression serious but also soft.
"W-well, I want to come with you," she said, her voice steady. Mochi blinked in surprise.
"W-what? You want to travel with me?"
"Y-yeah," she said without hesitation.
"I've decided. I want to see the world, to explore beyond this place. And I want to do it with companions by my side." Mochi was taken aback by her request. He wasn't expecting this. He had thought maybe she would stay behind, that the wild west would be her home. But seeing her determination made something click inside him. He extended a hand He smiled, nodding.
"Alright, then. I'm happy to have you along Amelia, welcome to the team!" Amelia returned his smile, her eyes shining with excitement. She quickly packed up her things, ready for the next step of their journey. Before they left, the town came together to say their farewells. It was a bittersweet moment for Amelia. She knew she would miss the people here the ones who had been there for her and treated her like family. But she also knew there was more out there, more to see, more to experience.
As they stood at the edge of the wild west territory, ready to leave, Mochi suddenly shouted for Amelia to stop.
"Wait!" he called out, running to catch up with her. Amelia turned, confused.
"What's wrong?" Mochi grinned mischievously as he reached into his bag and pulled out a small device.
"You still have that explosive device strapped to your leg, don't you?" he reminded her. Amelia's eyes widened, and she reached down, realizing that he was right. That cursed device was still there, hidden beneath her clothing. But before she could react, Mochi clicked a button on the device. There was a faint beep, and then the explosive device detached and fell harmlessly to the ground.
"When Drago was in containment, this was found" Mochi explained, holding up a small controller with a satisfied grin.
"No more worries about that thing."
"Now then.. Shall we?" Amelia nodded"Yes, let's go and travel You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story. With that, the two of them set off, leaving the wild west behind them. As they walked away, the people of the town gathered in the distance, their voices carrying on the wind as they called out their thanks to Mochi.
"Thank you, Mochi!" they shouted, waving from afar. Mochi and Amelia looked back for a moment, taking in the sight of the people they had helped. It was a bittersweet farewell, but their journey had only just begun. And as they disappeared into the horizon, they knew that whatever lay ahead, they would face it together.
As Amelia and Mochi continued their journey, the landscape around them began to change, the terrain shifting from the arid dust of the Wild West to the rolling hills and valleys of more fertile lands. The air was fresher, and the world around them seemed to breathe a little easier. But despite the newness of it all, Amelia's thoughts lingered on one person the man who had been her protector, her guide, and, in many ways, her father figure.
They had been traveling for hours when Amelia finally came to a stop, her eyes scanning the horizon. There was a quiet resolve on her face as she looked at Mochi.
"Let's stop for a moment, okay?" she said softly, her voice barely more than a whisper carried by the wind. Mochi, sensing her need, nodded without asking questions.
"Yeah, sure thing." He followed her as she led them off the path, down a small hill toward a quiet grove of trees. In the center of the grove stood a small stone marker, weathered by time but still clearly legible. It was a simple grave, but the love and respect that had been placed there was undeniable. Amelia stopped in front of the grave and knelt down. She placed a hand over her heart, a gesture of reverence. The inscription on the stone read, James A Father, A Friend, A Protector.
Mochi stood a few feet away, unsure of what to say. He could feel the weight of the moment pressing on him, and though he didn't know the full depth of Amelia's bond with James, he knew how much the man had meant to her. For a long time, neither of them spoke. Amelia simply stared at the grave, lost in her thoughts. The wind rustled through the trees, and the world felt still, as if it too was paying respect to James. Finally, Amelia broke the silence.
"He was a good man, Mochi. Not just to me, but to everyone in the town. He didn't have to take me in, but he did. He made sure I was safe, that I had a place to call home." Her voice cracked a little, the grief of losing someone who had been such an anchor in her life rising to the surface. Mochi stepped closer, his voice soft.
"He really was something else, huh?" He paused, looking at the stone.
"I only knew him for a few days, but, it was clear he cared deeply for you. He gave everything to keep you safe." Amelia nodded slowly, a few tears sliding down her cheek.
"Him and everyone to his great grandfather was the closest thing I had to an actual father. He gave me the wisdom to keep going, to believe in myself even when everything seemed impossible. He was always there with a kind word, a gentle hand when I needed it. I never realized how much he shaped me until now." Mochi crouched beside her, placing a hand gently on her shoulder.
"I know he's gone, but... he'd be proud of you. You're strong, Amelia. I can see that now more than ever. And I know he saw it in you, too." Amelia smiled weakly, wiping away the tears.
"Thank you, Mochi. That means more than you know." There was a long silence before she spoke again.
"I think he would've been proud of what we did... of what you did. You defeated Drago, you saved the town... You did what no one else could. I know he'd be cheering for you, too." Mochi, for the first time in a while, allowed himself to reflect on his own growth. He had come a long way since he first set foot in the Wild West, and the victory over Drago had been one of the biggest milestones.
But hearing Amelia speak so kindly of James, hearing how deeply she had cared for him, made him realize how much that bond had meant to her.
"We did it together," Mochi said quietly.
"You gave me the strength to keep going. And I think that's something James would be proud of too." Amelia's gaze softened as she stood up from the grave, brushing the dirt off her pants. She took one last look at the stone marker before turning toward Mochi.
"Let's keep going," she said.
"There's still so much to see, so much to do. For him, and for ourselves." Mochi nodded, his determination solidifying once more.
"Yeah. Let's go." They walked away from the grave side by side, their footsteps marking the beginning of the next chapter in their journey one shaped by the memory of the man who had been a father to Amelia, and the bond they had formed through their trials and victories.
