Bestiary: The Crimson Deer King Also referred to as: Crimson Deer Bitch, Cross-eyed deer king Appearance: The Crimson Deer King is a large bipedal deer creature standing at around 10 feet tall. Its eyes are dark and aimless, and its mane of fur is burnt black. It seems to be a mostly normal deer that has mutated into a large human-like form in order to hold the flaming sword that powers it. Most notably, it has thumbs and the ability to walk on two legs despite having hooves.
The legs seem unnatural, bent backward as if they were still hind legs. If one had to compare it to anything, it'd be like if the Greek minotaur were half deer instead of half bull. Loot Drop: Flame Sword Abilities: The flame sword is exactly as it sounds. A sword imbued with the power of flame. It isn't much different from having fire loot on its own, except the fire must be willed through the weapon instead of through one's hands.
Some might say that it's a downgrade from flame loot, but the flame sword is, of course, more close-combat-oriented. It burns hot enough to melt other weapons on contact and can blast a wave of flame with its strikes. Anything hit by it will not only be cut in half but also burnt to a crisp. Love this story? It should also be noted that when a human equips the flame sword, its size shrinks down to suit the size and ability of the wielder.
"The sword is similar to that of a medieval broadsword, with the only noticeable difference (besides the flaming) being the presence of a strange set of markings near the base of the sword. The language cannot be deciphered, no matter how hard I've tried. It doesn't match an earthly language, so it must be a clear sign that we're dealing with aliens… right?" -notes from a Redeemer.
Known Locations(s): A flame-sworded deer isn't particularly uncommon, but the Crimson Deer King moniker specifically refers to the one that shows up at T'balt's house on zero day. It isn't known why it appears where it does. Was it teleported from another world? Did it spring up from the ground? Or was it already there, waiting to be activated? Hopefully, time will tell. Behavior (speculative): The Crimson Deer King is in a class of demons that some might refer to as hunters.
These creatures have an insatiable bloodlust for human death. These things are what make the mortality rate on zero day so high.
"Though I have no real way of knowing, it's likely that the events of Zero Day and the arrival of the demons will eliminate 60% of the world's population by the end of day 3." -notes from a Redeemer. They spring up everywhere, seemingly summoned by the earthquake at noon, and they only have one objective. To kill. When not killing, they search for things to kill. They don't seem to care about eating, drinking, or even their own survival.
It's almost as if something is controlling their brains, leaving nothing but a bloodthirsty zombie. A ten-foot blood thirsty zombie with antlers and a flaming sword.
