The following is a voicemail transcript from a call made out of the administrative offices of Burwood Penitentiary. The time is stamped 12: 25 pm on Friday, September 25 th. Caller: Goddamn it. I got his voicemail again!... Well, what the hell do I do? Leave a message? Ok. Hello? Uhh… Warden, sir. We've got a bit of a situation here. It's pretty urgent, so if you could please pick up your phone. I'm sure you felt that earthquake wherever you are.
Well, it hit us here, too, and you know those walls with the shoddy foundation you were always complaining about? Yeah, they… they broke, and a few prisoners got loose. I.. it.. It's bad. And everyone's picking a great time not to answer their damn phone. Not the SWAT guys. Not the sheriff and… not you. Some of our guys went after em but there's only like twenty of us. We're gonna need a canine unit, the police force, and hell, probably the national guard. I know that sounds like a lot, but…
ya know, when I said a few of them got loose… I meant all of em. Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road. See, one of the prisoners… from the maximum security ward got out. And when he did, he somehow got access to all of our security systems. And all of our keys. Then he went opening the cells of every prisoner in the building. He just knew how to get through all our gates and checkpoints. All our patrols. Even somehow put the dogs to sleep.
A couple of us newer guys tried to stop him. We got the rifles and told him to stop and go back to his cell peacefully. He didn't, so we opened fire. But he just kept walking, and everyone just… missed. Now I'm not gonna suggest that he dodged an entire firing squad, but… he fucking dodged a firing squad, just by walking. They were semi-automatic weapons. You would've thought he was fucking Neo. He almost looked bored, like dying wasn't even a concern for him. The man's insane.
Then he turned a corner, and we didn't see him again. We couldn't chase after him because we had to deal with all the other escaping convicts. I don't know if he released em to use em as a distraction or if he just wanted anarchy. Probably both. He's psychotic. And now he's loose. We gotta do something. I mean, there's a town nearby, and these guys are rapers and serial killers. Listen, just… please answer your phone.
