Elion raised her saber and smiled.
"You were lucky before…but I won't let you get ahead of me again". She charged at him once more, kicking up clouds of sand with every step. Abrafo swung both short swords, attempting to decapitate her, but an instant later, Elion was already behind him. Five fingers from Abrafo's right hand fell onto the sand, leaving the crowd stunned.
"How did she do that?"
"I really can't understand that girl's technique". Elion, however, was far from satisfied. She tried to attack again, but her legs gave out and she dropped to one knee.
"I aimed for his eyes, but he covered them along with several other vital areas…damn it". Abrafo stared at his mutilated hand before turning toward Elion with a furious expression.
"You took five fingers from my hand… no one has ever gone that far. And no one will ever suffer as much as you're about to". Holding only one short sword now, he charged at her again as Elion forced herself back onto her feet. Meanwhile, Ethan walked through the corridors. The cells lining the walls were filled with slaves of every age and race, many of them begging him to set them free. Others hid or fell silent when they saw him covered in blood. With every step, Ethan left a bloody footprint on the floor.
An elven woman approached the bars.
"Human, please…free me". Ethan didn't stop or even turn his head. He ignored her completely and continued until he reached the corner of the corridor. Ravetrisk appeared before him. His expression was now hard and cold; he had stopped trembling.
"You're not trembling in fear anymore?" Ethan asked.
"Why should I be afraid of a worm like you?" Ravetrisk replied, raising his weapon. If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
"You call everyone else worms so you don't have to feel guilty about treating them like this?" Ravetrisk tightened his grip on his weapon.
"Why should I feel guilty? I'm simply carrying on something that has existed forever. Something no one punishes and everyone allows".
"And you think that makes you less guilty? No. You're still a monster". Ethan took a step forward.
"A damn, disgusting monster who feeds a terrible system. But it ends today. I'll defeat you and torture you until you tell me where they took Agnes". Ravetrisk took a deep breath.
"Do you only know how to talk, or can you fight as well?"
"You should ask your subordinates… though I doubt any of the ones who attacked me can answer you now". Ethan said nothing else. He lunged forward without hesitation. His first slash was so powerful that Ravetrisk barely managed to block it. Ethan gave him no respite, unleashing one heavy blow after another. Ravetrisk was a skilled swordsman and immediately realized that blocking every attack would only exhaust him. He began retreating and dodging instead, searching for an opening in Ethan's guard.
On the seventh slash, he found one. Ethan had left his stomach exposed. Ravetrisk immediately thrust his sword forward, but the attack was deflected, allowing Ethan to slash his right leg. Ravetrisk growled as he was forced to retreat once more.
"He has experience…was he a soldier? But his technique isn't what concerns me. It's only slightly above average. It's his rage…all that blood. Did he really kill all my subordinates? If so…am I truly fighting a human being?" Above them, Elion struggled to control her breathing. Blood poured from her left side. Abrafo had kept her under constant pressure, preventing her from using her technique again. She had managed to create some distance, but had paid for it with a deep cut to her side.
"I can't go on much longer. I can use my technique one last time…then I'll lose consciousness. I can't fail. I have to hit the right spot. But where? What part of his body won't he protect?" Abrafo watched her with a cruel smile.
"What are you thinking about, girl? Have you finally realized you're finished?" Elion raised her eyes. She studied his body and suddenly had an idea. She charged toward him, gripping her saber tightly.
"That girl is incredibly tenacious".
"Tenacious? Charging blindly at Abrafo like that is just stupid". The crowd continued murmuring among themselves. Felicity watched the fight with her arms crossed, her expression serious.
"She's at her limit…If she doesn't defeat him in the next exchange, she's lost". Abrafo saw Elion coming and instinctively reacted, tensing his body and covering himself like a shield. An instant later, Elion reappeared behind him and collapsed to the ground, completely drained of energy. Her heart pounded in her chest, and every breath came with increasing difficulty. Two clean cuts appeared across his deltoids. Abrafo burst out laughing.
"You used your last bit of strength just to strike my shoulders? Seriously? I would have at least tried to stab me in the heart, even if I was protecting myself". He tried to raise his arms. A searing pain shot through him. His arms wouldn't move. Elion smiled, breathing heavily.
"I severed your axillary nerves. You won't be able to raise your arms anymore". She barely managed to lift her head.
"I knew you wouldn't protect yourself there. And I was right. It may not be a vital area…but how do you expect to fight without being able to use your arms? I won". Felicity and the others stared in disbelief at the outcome of the battle.
