Singuled and Kentrick were charging at full speed. Piaro didn't flinch. He didn't even drop Elysia. He just looked at them. Two invisible hands made of pure, heavy willpower shot out. They caught Singuled and Kentrick right in mid-air. The two giant men hung suspended a foot above the dirt, kicking their boots helplessly. Singuled dropped the piece of high-grade monster leather he had been absently using to polish his chipped broadsword. It hit the ground with a soft thud. The crying in the courtyard stopped.
The knights stared at the floating men, completely dumbfounded.
"Captain..." Winfred asked, wiping his eyes.
"Did you... become a Sword Saint?" Piaro set the two knights down gently. He gave them a proud, calm smile.
"Yes," Piaro said.
"I became a Sword Saint." The knights cheered wildly. Singuled pumped his fist in the air. Then, Piaro reached over his shoulder. He pulled out a rusty iron hand plow.
"And," Piaro said, holding the farming tool up to the sky with intense reverence.
"I am a Legendary Farmer." The cheering died instantly. The courtyard went dead silent. Kentrick blinked. He looked at the plow, then at Winfred. Winfred coughed awkwardly into his fist and looked down at his boots. Elysia wiped a smudge of burnt sugar and sulfur off her cheek from her recent lab work. She forced a highly supportive smile.
"F-Farming. That's wonderful, brother. If planting seeds brings you peace, we fully support your hobbies."
"It's very therapeutic," Singuled nodded slowly. They all clearly thought the trauma had finally broken Piaro's brain. A light snowfall began to drift down from the grey sky. The delicate snowflakes landed on the estate's newly repaired cobblestones, melting instantly against the warm, heated stone. Enjoying this book? "I'm hungry," a deep, rumbling voice complained. The knights jumped. They spun around, drawing their weapons.
"Who said that?" Kentrick barked. Kratos, the massive lion, sat by Rudra's boots. He yawned, showing off teeth the size of daggers.
"Me. Can we get burgers now? I want extra cheese." Elysia dropped her sword.
"Kratos... can talk?!"
"He's huge!" Amelda gasped, covering her mouth.
"He ate a ghost," Rudra explained casually.
"Don't worry about it." Piaro turned to his knights.
"Do not be alarmed. I have not lost my mind. I only reached my dream because of Duke Rudra. He showed me the way." Piaro turned and bowed deeply to Rudra.
"He has transcended as well. He is a Legend. A Staff Saint." The Red Knights stared at Rudra. Their expressions changed from simple gratitude to deep, unwavering respect. The young man who cooked their meals and smiled so easily was a living legend. Rudra rubbed the back of his neck. He really didn't like receiving too much respect. It felt way too stiff and awkward.
"Alright, enough staring," Rudra laughed, stepping forward to break the heavy tension.
"I brought presents." He opened his inventory. He pulled out seven dark, silver rings with a small red jewel in the center. He tossed them to the knights. I actually found three Advanced rings, Rudra thought to himself as he handed them out. But there are seven of them. I'm not playing favorites and making them fight over uneven loot.
"Catch," Rudra said. Singuled caught one. He immediately felt a strange, pulse-like magic radiating from the metal. Winfred looked at the ring in his palm. The old tactician's eyes went wide. He instantly recognized the artifact. He didn't ask what it did. Instead, he looked at Rudra in absolute shock.
"Duke Rudra..." Winfred stammered.
"These are Intermediate Vampire's Rings. To find even one is a miracle. You managed to hunt down enough high-ranking True Blood vampires to source seven identical rings?!" "Whenever you hit someone, the ring drains their life and heals you. With how hard you guys hit, you'll basically be unkillable." The knights stared at the rings in pure shock.
"Now put them on," Rudra grinned, slinging his staff over his shoulder.
"We have a lot of work to do. I need to build a new kitchen, a massive public library, and secure our infrastructure."
