By the time Aren came down, Adam had nearly finished the cleanup. Even if Adam was not suited for direct combat, the gap between ordinary people and Nen users was enormous. Against mafia members, he could still kill quickly. At most, he could not handle too many enemies at once. He also did not fight bare-handed like the Troupe. Adam used firearms when they were convenient. That made the work much faster. As for the women Adam's group had brought in for their games, he did not kill them.
They had accompanied the mercenaries for a while, and Aren's order had been to clean out Evans Family members. Those women should not count. So Adam let them go.
"Clean?" Aren asked casually when he saw Adam standing downstairs, covered in blood.
"It should be clean," Adam said with his head lowered.
"I do not possess Mr. Aren's power. My En cannot cover such a vast area, so I cannot guarantee it completely." Aren waved it off.
"It's fine. Let Nostrade handle the rest." If he had guessed correctly, Nostrade's people should be close by now. With Light Nostrade's personality, he would have sent men toward Felton Town the moment Aren left. Now that Aren had Flying Thunder God Technique, there was no need to wait for a return trip. He placed a hand on Adam's shoulder and activated the ability. White light flashed. The two vanished silently. The next moment, Aren and Adam appeared in the backyard of Villa 21 at Chinkola Point.
The first thing Aren saw was Neon holding a Ferrero Rocher in each hand and eating with absolute bliss. He grabbed her by the back of her collar.
"Ah!" Neon let out a cute cry as she was lifted off her feet like fate itself had grabbed her. To be fair, this was partly Aren's fault. He had created too many snacks at once and only realized it after returning. But there was no way he would admit his own mistake. He would only say Neon lacked self-control.
"Ah! Master, you're back! Hehe... um, Neon accidentally..." Her cheeks flushed with the embarrassment of being caught.
"All right, Neon. Tomorrow's snack portion is gone." Aren held her in front of him and narrowed his eyes.
"Ah! Master, good Master, no! Please don't! Mua!" Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit. When she heard tomorrow's snacks were gone, Neon immediately used her ultimate move. She stretched out her small arms and kissed Aren on the cheek. Aren pretended to think for a while.
"Fine. I can let you keep tomorrow's snacks, but today you add five more sets." Five more sets were painful, but hearing that tomorrow's snacks were safe made Neon's eyes brighten.
"Promise?"
"Promise. No take-backs." The two looked at each other and laughed. Honestly, compared with Light Nostrade, Aren felt much more like Neon's father. He set her back on the ground and patted her head.
"Go."
"Mm!" Neon happily bounced back toward the training area. On the way, she glanced curiously at Adam. Only curiosity. From his respectful posture, he was clearly one of her master's subordinates. The Nostrade Family had no shortage of subordinates. She was only curious because this was the first time she had seen one stand so close to Aren. Even her father could only stand near him occasionally. Once Neon resumed training, Aren turned to Adam.
"Go find Light Nostrade. Tell him I sent you. For now, stay with the Nostrade Family and watch him for me."
"Yes, Mr. Aren." Adam bowed and entered the villa to look for Light. Aren lay comfortably on the lounge chair. With a stretch of his hand, milk tea appeared in his grasp. He supervised Neon's training while drinking, keeping her from slacking off. As for the Zoldycks Francis Evans had mentioned, Aren was not especially worried. Nanika had not been born yet. Aside from her, only Maha Zoldyck might truly threaten him. Even Zeno Zoldyck probably could not. Aren's caution toward Maha came only from uncertainty.
The future he remembered had never made Maha's exact strength or ability clear. Still, a revenge fund from a remote mafia family should not be enough to hire Maha himself. There was one problem Aren had not yet realized. His current abilities were powerful, but his experience and foundation were still shallow. His strength was built almost entirely on life force and a massive aura reserve. If an opponent fought him head-on, there was no need to fear.
But if someone launched a surprise attack or used a method outside direct confrontation, Aren would become far more passive. His Limitless Technique was not the same as Gojo's Limitless. Gojo's technique functioned almost like a passive, all-day automatic defense. Aren's Limitless Technique had to be activated. In other words, he had to notice the attack before he could use it. If the attack landed faster than his awareness could respond, Limitless Technique was useless.
The Zoldyck Family specialized in assassination. There was another issue too. Aren's fundamentals were rough. Ryu, En expansion, sustained awareness, layered aura control. He could use them, but once he could use them, he rarely trained them deeply. When he encountered enemies, he simply crushed them with abilities. He had begun to believe the fundamentals were not important. That was a weakness in human nature.
After suddenly obtaining overwhelming power, it became difficult to settle down and refine small, boring foundations. The results were not flashy. They did not feel as satisfying as developing a new ability. Because of that, even if Aren noticed an attack, he might not be able to call out the right Nen ability in time. Agilas occupied a position in the Hunter world similar to Switzerland in Aren's previous life. It had declared permanent neutrality a thousand years ago.
Its people also possessed sharp financial instincts. Using that neutral position, Agilas built the most developed banking and fund-management system in the world. Inside an ordinary office building in Agilas was one branch office of the Antoine Family Trust Company.
"Has it been confirmed? Francis Evans, the final heir to the Fanobi Family fund, is dead."
"Confirmed," the voice on the other end of the phone said with a faint laugh.
"He obtained the family fund, found the dark brokerage network, hired Adam's group, and still failed." The office worker ignored the ridicule and nodded calmly.
"As long as it is confirmed. Begin the revenge fund according to procedure."
"Fine. I'll arrange it now. Honestly, Fanobi had only been a local power in a small region, but he skimmed plenty of money. The profits in those backwater places..." The office worker hung up before the man finished.
"Hello? Hello?" On the other end, a blond man heard only the dial tone. After trying for a while, he lowered the monocular in his other hand and clicked his tongue.
"Honestly. Ellens still has no patience." He took out another phone and searched through the contacts.
"Zoldyck..." He muttered as he dialed.
"I wonder if that discount they mentioned last time is real." The phone rang several times before a deep male voice answered.
"Hello. This is Silva Zoldyck."
"Hello, Mr. Silva. This is the Antoine Family Trust Company. We have a commission that requires your help. Do you have time recently?"
"Yes. In most cases, we solve targets within a week. If the commission is urgent, you can pay for expedited work."
"No need, no need. Normal speed is fine."
"Then send the target information to my email. I will give you a quote afterward." Silva hung up.
"Hello? I still had one question. Does the discount from last time apply? Hello?" The blond man was left with another dial tone.
"These bastards are all impatient. Can't they learn from me?"
