It happened swiftly. Igor didn't even know how it happened. Where he once stood, a deep gorge had formed. All he remembered was seeing a mouthful of sharp teeth as thick as castle pillars draw infinitely close to him. Then, he was gone and found himself having evaded dozens of metres to the side. [My body. It just… moved…]... … |DxD|- Chapter 111- Transcend Instincts …... Moments prior…. The Biblical God was a master of seals.
Adonai, El Shaddai, Yahweh, or whatever names the fiend called himself—he was a master at seals. Ddraig had spent a great many years trying to escape his prison. He had studied the seals, tried breaking them, tried circumventing them, alongside many other methods. He had cultivated very strong wielders to help him from the outside, yet even his strongest host could not free him. It was a source of wounded pride. Hundreds of years, countless times of endless trying had been made and he couldn't do it.
So where, did this weakling human get such courage… to bargain? It was maddening. Ddraig acted without mercy. His head mowed down and his maw opened wide. He was determined to devour this human's soul and destroy it. His scales carved their way through the ground. A mere High-Class could not react to his speed. Igor was still standing there, completely unaware. Ddraig swept through like a hurricane, but Igor was gone. His head came to a pause, and a single crimson eye narrowed on the blonde far on his left........
Ddraig was an old dragon, a warrior who had fought since he was a hatchling. He had seen the world and understood something immediately. Igor had done something incredible, something so monumentally rare it made him reevaluate the boy.
"Transcended Instincts." His head slowly turned to face Igor. The boy's roaring surge of power had dwindled and his coat of aura had faded to almost nothing.
"Human. Who are you?"
"..." Igor forced himself to remain standing, despite his legs debating otherwise. The sudden drain of energy had left a deep hollow sensation in his stomach, and a profound weakness throughout his body. Whatever it was his body did, he only had enough energy for one more before having to leave.
"Heavenly Dragon Emperor." A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation. Igor had so, so many questions, but now was not the moment. He didn't show weakness. His back went straight and his voice was steady. It was time to follow through with his sincerity. Other matters could come later.
"I am a descendant of Ariya, and the last living member of my people." He proclaimed out loud, and his next words would be a very deadly gamble. Dragons were creatures of pride and honour, or at least he hoped Ddraig was. The Red Dragon Emperor was not known as an evil or chaos dragon.
"I am the possessor of the time chamber."
"..." Ddraig's head slowly swooped down until it was just above Igor. Each movement of his enormous form had scale and muscle rattling and stretching like rattling bone and sinew. The seconds passed as he watched the boy. Then, he spoke.
"Will you contend against the gods?"
"..." Ddraig was so close he could measure himself against the dragon's teeth. It left Igor with the rare feeling of nervousness, so much it showed on his face with a frown.
"Yes. I will." He replied firmly, mustering what will he had, but Ddraig denied him.
"No. Your conviction is not firm. You hold doubt." Ddraig pulled his massive body away and laid down. A whirlwind roared and dark red soot began covering his scales.
"Your mission is complete, boy. I will aid the child as I see fit." His massive jaws closed along with his eyes.
"..." Igor's fists clenched with unwillingness. How could he not understand he was being dismissed? And how could…how could Ddraig dare question his conviction?
"I will contend against the gods." His aura sang at his declaration, the sound of chiming bells rising to a crescendo. His jaws were locked and eyes blazened with buried hatred. For over twenty years, he'd held this pain deep within.
"I will find the god who schemed the purge against my clan, and slaughter them and any who stop me!" Igor proclaimed at the mountain before him. Majestic crimson scales were now covered by rusty brown rock.
"We will see." This time, Igor could not resist the push. He instantly found himself in the real world again. It was his personal study room with shelves of books lining the walls. The first thing Igor felt was the drain on his energy. Time in the Boosted Gear moved at a crawl, allowing him to keep the silver state almost indefinitely. His eyes faded to blue, and time resumed with the ticking of the clock. Issei was seated across from him and suddenly woke up.
His eyes sparkled and he pulled his left hand free from Igor's hold. He raised it, and with a mighty clench, a green glow flashed. It faded, and a long red scaled gauntlet covered Issei's arm all the way to the shoulder. There was a pause, and then a piercing shriek of excitement.
"YEEEEEEEEEEEEAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" The chair fell over as Issei scattered out of the room. He opened the door with so much force the hinge broke. Very soon, his excited shouts and bragging came through the walls.
"Look! Look! Look! I'm a superhero!! I'm a superhero ninja!!!!" Issei's happiness was too infectious. It was enough to wipe away Igor's earlier mood. It didn't go quite as planned, but Issei had now awakened the Boosted Gear. If Ddraig could help Issei, that would be more than enough.
"[BOOST!]" Igor paused, then chuckled.
"This idiot." He got up as well and walked to the door. He got out and made his way to the library. Issei was hopping around his mother and excitedly showing him the sacred gear.
"Look, mom! Look!"
"[BOOST!]" Miki was understandably lost. She couldn't quite piece together that her son had a non-human arm. But she still managed to smile and praise him.
"That's very good, Issei~." Lina came in from the side and pinched Issei's ear.
"Don't boost a third time, Issei. Otherwise I'll get really angry, okay~?"
"Ow! Okay! Okay! I won't, Miss Lina!" Irina ran her hands along the gauntlet, and Akeno was annoyed. Her bullying would soon come to an end because Issei finally awakened his stupid sacred gear. Igor didn't participate in the happiness. Staying just beyond the periphery was enough for him. Shuri came and stood beside him. Neither said anything, but Igor did feel a hand slide between the buttons of his coat.
"Aunty?"
"Hold still."
"..." Shuri's hand hovered around his stomach. Then, it went lower, and lower, until it grabbed the fat of skin just below his navel.
"?!" She pinched it hard and Igor flinched. Shuri's grip was absurdly strong and landed him in a perilous situation.
"This is your punishment for gambling." She spoke innocently as Igor hissed in pain.
"Sorry, aunty. I won't do it again."
"I know you WILL do it again. Because I know you have a hard head." She squeezed and twisted, making Igor hunch around her.
"But with this, at least you will think twice, Igor."
"Yes, aunty. I'll definitely think twice." Igor spoke hoarsely, and Shuri finally let him go.
"Hmph. At least you know." She pulled her hand away and huffed coldly. Her boy was really too daring sometimes.
"You and my husband: I swear you were cut from the same cloth. I hope Akeno does not become like you."
"..." Igor looked ahead at the trio of children. Akeno was biting Issei's wrist and Irina was trying to pull her off.
"Yeah…" He chuckled.
"I hope she really doesn't become like us." For the new generation, there was still hope they wouldn't be tainted.
