Igor chuckled. Sairaorg was brighter than Issei being promised a treat. This five-minute contract, whether he wanted to or not, would end with a second round of clashes. But this time, Igor would repay the favour of that one punch.... … |DxD| - Chapter 99- A Clash Of Generations 2 …... Vitality—a power that could push the body to its highest limits. It was intrinsic to humans since the dawn of their creation, as natural to them as demonic energy was to devils.
It flowed through Igor's body without recourse, strengthening and enhancing his body beyond the norm. Five minutes had passed and Igor had healed. Sairaorg's mysterious power had shocked him, but it also ignited his fighting spirit. Standing atop endless blue, the waters rippled beneath his feet, and what began as ripples slowly surged into bubbling waves. Pure heat emanated from Igor. His body grew so hot that he steamed. Clenched fists bulged with veins stretching his arms and torso.
His eyes were closed in calm as his hair swayed in the wind of his own making. From the depths of his blood, vital energy flowed into bone and flesh. Every cell and fibre was suffused with the wondrous energy, causing his body to creak and crack like splintering wood. Muscles swelled and his skin tanned. From the tips of his toes to the smallest fringes of his hair, vitality flowed through it all. Orange aura finally leaked through his skin. It was faint, but the heat it brought was enough to scald the skin.
"Fuuuuu…" Igor exhaled. In a sunny morning, his breath was as visible as smoke. He opened his eyes, amber just like his aura. This battle—it'd demand everything he had.
"Thank you, Sairaorg." There was a depth to his voice, a contradiction of solemnity and pride. He was calm and confident, leading Sairaorg to grin in anticipation.
"You're finally going to fight seriously?" A burst of touki surrounded him. He would also give his all. Igor narrowed his eyes. There was no hatred. Only resolve.
"I will fight with the intent to kill you." His surging aura hammered his words. It was a wildfire that pressed down against the ocean below. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
"Old man." Igor called out. He did not need to speak further before a voice entered both their ears.
"Fight to your heart's content." Baraquiel's words removed the last line of hesitation. His speed could prevent any fatalities. And so Igor shared a look with Sairaorg… before vanishing. Su! He didn't charge forward, but backward. Two orbs enveloped his arm in their glow. In his retreat, they remained behind and fired countless smaller energy blasts at the pursuing Sairaorg. Sairaorg was neither incompetent nor weak. His punch defied distance and common sense.
The vacuum generated swallowed the barrage of blasts and the two orbs unleashing them. But in this split moment in time, a second sun was forming in the sky. [This monster…] Sairaorg clicked his tongue. Igor was practically a bottomless well of energy. Few could be as extravagant. He burst forward, cutting apart the waves with his momentum alone. Igor's attack was impressive, but such a large attack would undoubtedly make him statio… nary…... Time slowed.
His fist, which should've ruptured a stomach, tore empty air instead. Igor had vanished like strips of paper flickering from existence. Sairaorg did not linger, for he'd felt the scorching heat behind him. His went forward, side to side, up and down, yet the heat remained. Sairaorg grit his teeth and turned around. A small energy orb had persistently followed him, even anticipating his moves and preventing him from circling around to target Igor. His hand brightened and he swatted it away… or tried to at least.
A paralyzing feeling shocked him to his core. His muscles contracted and relaxed violently like a heartbeat, turning him into a static target for the looming shadow approaching him. It was… massive, like the most dazzling of palaces. It glowed like a lava pool, and felt just as hot.
"RAAA!!" Sairaorg roared and broke free from the paralysing effect. It was too late to escape, but not too late to stop the enormous ball of energy. Touki surged around him like a sharp harpoon piercing the skies. It was nothing more than a string before the mass approaching him, but touki had rarely been an ostentatious tool. Sairaorg stretched out his hands and pushed against the sphere. The intense burning was enough to sizzle flesh.
He gritted his teeth and channelled touki into the sphere to prevent it from exploding. He roared again and kicked it away towards the skies. It shot upwards just as fast as it came. In a blink, it had risen hundreds of metres away. It was an astounding feat of resilience and tactics, but Sairaorg had no time to celebrate. The blue skies now had a tint of amber. Sairaorg could chuckle inwardly at Igor's relentlessness.
In the time he kicked away the sphere, he found himself trapped in a large dome as vast as fields. Igor was outside with his hand on the dome. There was no ceremony nor gloating. Vitality surged, and a storm began. Under his control, the dome glowed so brfightly it became opaque. All the blinding light was concentrated inside. And alongside that light, piercing needles of vitality rained like a hellstorm from all directions.
It was a killing technique designed to eliminate hordes of enemies, or weaken one powerful foe. Sairaorg's physique was very powerful and able to endure the endless needles. He had curled up and protected weak parts such as his eyes. The seconds passed and Igor's understanding of Sairaorg grew. Each needle struck was like a probe giving him knowledge of Sairaorg's body. The man was… absurd. Touki had strengthened his body to such margins that it shattered his understanding of devils.
It was with this understanding that he knew he could not keep Sairaorg in this dome. Not only would it be fruitless, but it would give Sairaorg too much time to recover and plot. Such a thing could not happen. And so Igor stretched out his free hand. White light flashed and a glaive nestled in his hold.
"I need your help, Serana." He whispered and began channelling energy into it. The sudden pressure was so much the blade crackled with lightning around it. A moment passed…and Igor disappeared inside the dome. He was less than a blur, for he arrived before Sairaorg in an instant. CLASH!
