She didn't use massive, slow fireballs this time. Instead, she coated both of her fists in highly concentrated, bright orange flames. She moved like a professional boxer. She ducked under a leaping wolf, driving a flaming uppercut directly into its stomach. The wolf yelped, its fur catching fire as it was launched across the cave. Another wolf tried to sneak up behind her, but Ira was already watching her blind spot. Ira stood completely still, her face utterly emotionless.
With a simple, casual flick of her wrist, she summoned a long, high-pressure whip made of pure water.
"Target acquired," Ira stated in her robotic tone. The water whip slashed through the dark air with a sharp cracking sound. It wrapped tightly around the back legs of the sneaking wolf. Ira yanked her arm back violently, pulling the massive beast right out of the air and slamming it hard into a stalagmite. Meanwhile, behind the safety of his large rock, Ken Eliot was putting on a fantastic show of total cowardice.
He occasionally peeked his head over the top of the boulder, his sleepy eyes wide, just to shout useless commentary at the girls.
"Watch out for the bear on the left!" Ken yelled loudly, pointing a finger.
"He looks really angry! Maybe he missed his breakfast! Has anyone tried offering him a granola bar?! Sometimes you just need a snack to calm down!"
"Shut up, Ken!" Zinia shouted back, not even looking at him. The giant, armored bear-type beasts were finally reaching the front line. They stomped heavily, shaking the floor. One of the bears reared up on its hind legs, raising its massive, rock-covered paws to completely crush Zinia. Zinia didn't flinch. As the earth magic user, she loved a good physical challenge. She slammed both of her hands down onto the cave floor.
"You think your armor is tough?" Zinia roared, grinning wildly.
"Try this! Earth Trap!" The ground directly underneath the giant bear suddenly turned into a deep, thick pit of sinking mud. The heavy monster let out a confused roar as its massive weight dragged it down. Before the bear could pull its legs out, Zinia twisted her hands upward. The mud instantly hardened back into solid, unbreakable rock, trapping the bear tightly up to its waist.
"It is stuck!" Zinia called out perfectly on cue.
"Hit it with everything!" The girls didn't even need to discuss a plan. They had trained together every single day. Their teamwork was completely flawless. It looked less like a fight and more like a highly choreographed dance. Ira immediately swung both of her water whips, slashing them across the trapped bear's body. The high-pressure water didn't break the bear's armor, but it completely soaked the monster from head to toe.

"Target is wet," Ira reported flatly.
"My turn!" Luna yawned from the back of the group. Luna hadn't moved an inch since the fight started. She was still slouching, looking like she wanted to go back to bed. But she casually raised two fingers and pointed them directly at the soaking wet, trapped bear.
"Zap," Luna mumbled lazily. A blinding, jagged bolt of bright yellow lightning shot out of her fingers. Because the bear was completely covered in Ira's water, the electricity magnified ten times over. The lightning struck the beast, wrapping around its entire body in a brilliant, cracking web of high voltage. The bear let out one final, shaking roar before its eyes rolled back in its head. It slumped forward, totally knocked out.
"Beautiful combo!" Sayma praised, creating another glowing barrier to easily deflect a few incoming venomous tongues from the remaining frogs. The fight continued, but it wasn't a struggle at all. The 13th Unit vanguard operated like a perfectly oiled machine. Naomi's speed kept the fast wolves completely off balance. Zinia's earth walls controlled the battlefield, funneling the monsters exactly where the girls wanted them to go.
Sayma provided absolutely flawless defense, making sure not a single claw or fang came anywhere near Princess Iris. Laxmi, Ira, and Luna provided the heavy damage. They combined their fire, water, and lightning effortlessly, turning the dark tunnel into a spectacular, colorful light show of elite magic. Throughout the entire battle, Ken stayed securely behind his rock. He occasionally threw a tiny, harmless pebble into the fray.
"Take that, you scary monsters!" Ken yelled, tossing a small rock that bounced weakly off a wolf's head.
"I am providing long-range artillery support! You guys are welcome! My throwing arm is getting very tired, though!" No one paid him any attention. They were too busy totally dominating the dungeon horde. Within ten minutes, the chaos began to settle. The roaring and growling faded away into total silence. The dark tunnel was now completely littered with the unconscious bodies of giant frogs, vicious wolves, and armored bears. The air smelled strongly of burnt fur and ozone from Luna's lightning.
The elite girls stood in the middle of the defeated horde. They were not panting. Their hands were not shaking. They didn't even have a single drop of sweat on their foreheads. They had completely crushed a massive wave of mutated dungeon monsters with absolute, terrifying ease. Naomi spun her daggers stylishly and slid them back into their holsters with a satisfying click. She checked her boots to make sure there was no frog slime on them.
"Well, that was a decent warm-up. These monsters are big, but they are incredibly slow." Laxmi stretched her arms over her head, the last bits of orange fire fading from her fists.
"I give that fight a solid six out of ten. I didn't even get to use my biggest explosions. Hopefully, the monsters get tougher the deeper we go." Princess Iris stepped out from her safe spot by the wall. She walked past the sleeping beasts, looking at her vanguard with immense pride. Her violet eyes were shining.
"Excellent work, everyone. Your coordination was absolutely flawless. Nobody got hurt, and we didn't waste any unnecessary energy."
"Thank you, Princess," Sayma smiled politely, adjusting her glasses one more time.
"The path ahead is clear." Ken finally peeked his head all the way over the top of his hiding rock. He looked left, then looked right, making absolutely sure that none of the monsters were still moving. Once he felt perfectly safe, he slowly stood up, dusting off his expensive navy blue suit pants. He casually walked out into the middle of the group, stepping over a sleeping wolf. He stretched his back and let out a long, dramatic groan.
"Man, you guys really took your time," Ken complained lazily, putting his hands on his hips.
"Crouching behind that rock gave me a terrible cramp in my left leg. Do you have any idea how uncomfortable cave rocks are? They have zero lumbar support." Naomi just stared at him, completely deadpan.
"You are welcome for saving your life, Ken."
"Hey, I helped!" Ken argued playfully, giving her a goofy, entirely fake salute.
"I provided excellent moral support! And I totally distracted that one wolf by throwing a pebble at it! Teamwork makes the dream work, right?"
