"I said you could stay over," he pouts from the bed.
"I thought we could get breakfast together."
"Yeah, um, I'm supposed to be doing the Park Run at nine," she mumbles, hopping on one leg as she tries to get her other foot into her jeans. Four frozen margheritas had probably been two too many. The extra tequila shot to finish the night had definitely been unnecessary. She definitely wasn't on for a PB in the morning.
"You can run around the park anytime," he grumbles. Ignoring him, she busies herself shoving her bra into her bag. It is a lacy one, therefore too uncomfortable to wear once the moment had passed. She'll get an Uber back; there will be too many drunk people on the last train on a Saturday night. She turns away from him to pull her jumper on. "Maybe we could go to yours next time? That way you could still do the run, and we could grab some breakfast afterwards. Maybe have a warm down in bed?" She cringes. After the Park Run she enjoys social small talk with the regulars as they queue for coffee from the little van. Then she politely excuses herself and, weather permitting, takes the long route back through the park alone. Enjoying being outside. Sipping her coffee slowly so that she finishes it just as she reaches the park gates.
Buying a pastry from the bakery on the high street on the way back to her flat.
"Maybe," she mutters, looking around for her socks.
