The flying boat descended, and Lin Yi looked properly at the mountain that was his future home. Compared to the other divisions, he could freely look at the entire mountain peak without anything being veiled. I am likely already added into the formation. Lin Yi thought as he patted his sect plate in one of his robe pouches. Despite this, he could still see the separation between public and private areas.
Starting from the foot of the mountain, several grand stairways rose with open pavilions stationed beside them at regular intervals. Each of them was made of sturdy material that looked clean but also exotic and expensive. The stairway extended up towards the middle part where a broad area was flattened and terraformed into a great platform. On this platform, several grand buildings stood. From simple buildings to high-reaching towers and a few courtyards.
Each of them looked greater in appearance and value than the other. The grandest, most expensive, and tallest of them stood at the very back, but center, of the platform. It was a pavilion made of silver and black metal that gleamed with the reflected sunlight in all directions and protruded dozens of meters into the sky. Around the sides and from the back of the great platform, several paths led higher up the mountain.
These paths led to the various upper mountain peaks, which housed various courtyards, pavilions, and other necessities. However, each path always branched off to the very top of the mountain, where again a grand platform was excavated and built upon with different buildings. Everywhere on the mountain, disciples could be seen. Most of them were on the great platform in the middle region. Most likely for new immortal arts. Lin Yi thought. Senior Brother Zu Guo's voice roused him back from this beautiful view.
"In the middle part of the mountain, on the public platform, is the area where disciples from the whole Outer Court choose their immortal arts."
"The different buildings will be explained to you by Elder Yu over the next weeks, but the main pavilion is the simplest and most important." He pointed at the great pavilion at the back of the platform.
"That is the true Scripture Pavilion. The Outer Court stores all of their immortal arts there. Be it cultivation methods, orthodox or side paths, spells, divine abilities, and even alchemy recipes, formations and talisman frameworks, and artifact blueprints and knowledge."
"Everything the sect knows about cultivation is stored there. There are even some rumors that a few immortal arts of the Golden Core Realm are stored there." Lin Yi got goosebumps all over his body as he couldn't contain his astonishment. There are likely hundreds of thousands texts about all kinds of immortal dao knowledge placed here. Zu Guo's next words diminished Lin Yi's spirit somewhat.
"Of course, this is as true as I awakened a Heaven Spirit Root. Nearly all the immortal arts are of the Qi Condensation Realm, with only a few belonging to Foundation Establishment. There are no Golden Core texts." While disappointed, Lin Yi could understand this. Any disciples who reached the Foundation Establishment Realm will become an official Inner Court Elder. Most of these elders are stationed in the headquarters, where the sect's only third-grade Spirit Vein existed.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings. It was also quite a risk to have many Foundation Establishment Realm or even a single Golden Core Realm immortal art placed in the Outer Court. On the rarest occasions, there would be only one or two Foundation Establishment Realm Dao Masters of the sect living here.
If multiple loose Dao Masters became too greedy and acted together for one of those higher scriptures, it might not be impossible for them to succeed, and the battle would heavily damage the sect. From the immortal texts, Lin Yi learned that Dao Masters existed on a completely different level than Qi Condensation cultivators, and the residue of their battle could kill lower-level disciples.
"But there should still be many immortal arts of the Qi Condensation Realm, right, senior brother?" Zu Guo looked at Lin Yi and nodded.
"That is true. In fact, except for some secret arts, every immortal text below Foundation Establishment that exists in the Inner Court is also copied here. You have enough material to read, if you want that." His senior brother laughed as Lin Yi's spirit rose again. Qi Condensation immortal texts are now enough for me. I would not be able to use higher-grade ones either way.
"Let's go towards the Administration Pavilion. You will also meet Elder Yu there." Zu Guo said and steered the flying ship towards the top of the mountain. They soon reached the grand platform, and the ship landed at the front of it. Senior Brother Zu Guo descended from the boat, and Lin Yi followed him. Zu Guo turned around and used his magic power. It flowed towards the flying ship and activated a restriction.
Under Lin Yi's astonished expression, the flying ship slowly grew smaller and smaller until it was only as big as a large hand. Zu Guo guided it into the storage pouch at his waist. With a smirk, he led Lin Yi towards the central area of the platform. There, three multi-story pavilions stood in a triangle formation, several dozen meters apart. Zu Guo pointed at each as he explained them.
"The pavilion at the back and center belongs to our division master."
"You must know that even sect divisions are divided into higher and lower. For example, the main divisions, such as the Charging Bull Division, the Law Enforcement Division, our Scripture Pavilion Division, Spiritual Farms Division, and the four great cultivation arts divisions are part of the upper divisions."
"Others, like the rest of the hundred arts, are the so-called lower divisions." He continued.
"Every upper division has a Dao Master, that is, a Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator, as their division master. Apparently it had something to do with security or prestige."
"Thus, the middle pavilion naturally also houses a Dao Master. His title is Perceiving Light Dao Master. He was already the division master before I joined the sect, and what I know from other senior brothers and sisters is that he was the Division Master for several decades before too."
"Most think that he already reached the mid stage of Foundation Establishment. But he, like other upper Division Masters, stays nearly all the time in seclusion. Only for serious things do they appear. I never met him." Zu Guo pointed to the right pavilion.
"Normally, our Deputy Division Master is in charge of the division, but she is currently in life-and-death seclusion trying to break through the Foundation Establishment Realm. Deputy Master Kayu is already in seclusion for up to a year." Lin Yi nodded. Life-and-death seclusion didn't mean that the person was truly in a life-and-death situation or was at the end of their lifespan.
That can also be the case, but normally it symbolizes a stricter form of normal seclusion in which no one was allowed to disturb them, and the cultivator would only exit when they achieved their goal, or they realized their goal was not achievable during this cultivation session. Zu Guo pointed at the last of the three pavilions.
"That is our Administration Pavilion and the only one we disciples are allowed to enter without invitation. The deputy master would normally be in charge, like I said, but currently Elder Yu took over her work." As they walked towards the administration building, he continued to talk.
"Here, you will be assigned your tasks in the next few years and can go to for questions or other organizational needs. Most often, at least one elder is present. If not, you can send a message to the administration channel of our division." The communication function, Senior Brother Zu Guo mentioned, was part of the sect plate and was not something Lin Yi had read about in one of his past-life novels. Zu Guo sent his message earlier in the day to Lin Yi through this system.
From what he knew, it was a combination of formations and treasures working together in a network, not unlike the internet on Earth. However, its number of functions was no way near that of his past life. The duo walked through the front door and deeper into the pavilion towards another section.
"We have only a few dozen disciples in our division, so don't be surprised if you see only a few of them around or even no one at all." Lin Yi's senior brother said as they arrived at their destination. Before either of them could knock or announce themselves, the door swung open. A slightly oppressive atmosphere leaked out. Lin Yi followed Zu Guo in as the latter bowed and greeted the person sitting in the room.
"Greetings, Elder Yu!" An instant later, Lin Yi did the same, only a bit more nervous.
"Greetings, Elder Yu!" A moment later, at the sound of acknowledgment, both of them raised their upper bodies, and Lin Yi could see the female elder for the first time.
