The days that followed came and went, and Lin Yi settled into a daily routine. He accompanied his senior brothers and sister in their work and learned the basics of the Scripture Pavilion Division. From helping in the main Scripture Pavilion, delivering messages, texts, and more. He assisted in other areas of the public platform, where experimental products and designs of all kinds that were to be added to the Scripture Pavilion were tested for effectiveness and cost, or helped keep the mountain clean.
Lin Yi tagged along when senior disciples purged wild animals and beasts that reproduced too much or assisted when the mountain's formations needed inspection. There were even some spiritual fields that the division cultivates independently, along with other materials. Here, his senior disciples also showed him around. These were just a few examples of what he did in his small but official duty. Of course, these assignments were not daily.
He was still a young disciple only at the Initial Beginning of the Golden Cauldron Stage, and his main job was to cultivate. Only at the Crimson Palace Stage could one truly be of help to the sect and earn a proper wage. Currently, he was given weekly Essence Pills, clothing, and any other daily necessities. But not more. During his commute, he also accustomed himself to his new home outside his courtyard. He examined the forest behind his dwelling and the several valleys farther down.
The forest and valleys were mostly untouched, except for a few spots where wild beasts occasionally rummaged. It was likely that no one had used them for many years. Lin Yi did not plan to utilize them yet. First, he needed to plan his future cultivation. Since he last advanced, when he completed the foundation of his Heart Meridian, he had not made any progress in his cultivation. That was, the progress of his cultivation base.
He still refined and nourished his body with Qi, but did not strengthen his current Qi circulation or form any further ones. His free time was roughly divided into three parts. One was, as mentioned, the nourishment of his body, which had the least noticeable growth. He also continued his meditation practice. One of Lin Yi's greatest advantages was his ability to enter the mental state of Wu Wei. It was not surprising that he wanted to extend it, and with not few benefits.
A few weeks ago, he needed up to six hours to enter Wu Wei. Now, after more intense practice, he needed less than three hours, and it was nearing the two-hour mark more and more. Soon, it would be more efficient to enter Wu Wei before cultivation each time. The last task he had, for himself in his free time, was reading and, namely, researching immortal texts for his most recent idea. As expected, he did make great progress.
Lin Yi was pretty sure the plan would work without many obstacles, especially if an elder were willing to help him. You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version. It would set him back and delay his cultivation, but the result would be worth it. In the later stages, he would be able to advance even faster, at least comparable to others with a similar level of talent. Today was the day when an elder held a monthly lecture.
While it was officially called a lecture, in the Scripture Pavilion Division it was handled differently. In other divisions, which sometimes had hundreds or thousands of disciples, these monthly lectures were more common. Any disciple could arrive, listen to the elder's dao explanation, and then ask questions about the lecture or their own problems. In contrast, Lin Yi's division had another model. Due to their small number of disciples, sometimes no one attended the lecture.
Either they had no questions, carried out sect tasks, or were in secluded cultivation. One had to remember that even Golden Cauldron Stage cultivators were beyond normal mortals, let alone those in the Crimson Palace Stage. Lin Yi, despite his young age, could win a fistfight against an adult, boosted by his cultivation and supernatural body. Furthermore, he could go days without sleeping or eating and still be in relatively good form.
Crimson Palace Stage cultivators could forego food and liquid entirely, practice inedia, and go weeks without sleep. Most of their cultivation sessions last a day, and during a breakthrough or no assignments, even longer. Disciples who wanted to attend the lecture could register in advance through their sect plate. If no one registered, then the elder wouldn't need to hold it. In this way, the elders could also plan the work assignments more easily, and there would be no conflict.
The elder in charge could also make appointments for each disciple if he thought that too few would attend the lecture. Today was such a day. Lin Yi had already reached the private platform and soon arrived at the lecture pavilion. It was not a multi-story building like the Administration Pavilion but an open one, similar to the pavilion in Lin Yi's garden. Only way bigger in size.
Lin Yi estimated that hundreds of disciples could be put under its roof, and as it had no walls and only four pillars supporting it, more disciples could listen from outside if necessary. At the back of the pavilion was an elevated platform where the elder would sit. Currently, it was already filled with two people. Lin Yi recognized them both. One was Elder Bao.
He, like most other elders, did not have a permanent work position as the senior disciples did, but due to the shortage of elders in the division, rotated where needed. Elder Bao was already relatively old. From what Lin Yi knew above ninety, and it showed. He looked like a classical cultivation elder, with long grey hair and a beard, and one foot already in the grave. Of course, no one would say that to his face. He didn't wear the sect-issued cultivation robes or anything similar, but simple white robes.
The other person was Lin Yi's senior brother, Tang Er. Luckily, his parents did not name him Tang San. He thought, remembering a cultivation novel he had read in his past life. Senior Brother Tang was responsible for most of the Scripture Pavilion Division's spiritual fields. He was one of the disciples that Lin Yi shadowed over the past days. Lin Yi didn't interrupt the one-to-one instructions and waited outside the pavilion. Though with his advanced hearing, he couldn't help but overhear some things.
Tang Er had already been at the sixth level of the Qi Condensation Realm for some time and was prepared to break through to another step, entering the Purple Mansion Stage and becoming an elder of the sect. Elder Bao was one of the more knowledgeable and older elders, and at the ninth level of Qi Condensation for many years. In fact, only after failing to break through to the Foundation Establishment Realm multiple times did he stop forcing his cultivation and focus on the younger generation.
Unfortunately, their dao discussion was already nearing its end, and Lin Yi couldn't learn much. A few minutes later, Tang Er bid goodbye, left the pavilion, and came across Lin Yi.
"Hello, Senior Brother Tang." Lin Yi greeted first. Tang Er smiled and nodded at him.
"Greetings, junior brother. You're here for the dao lecture, right?" After a quick nod from Lin Yi, he continued.
"I won't waste your time then. Take care."
"You too, senior brother." With a short wave of his hand, Tang Er departed, and Lin Yi entered the lecture pavilion. As he stood before Elder Bao, he bowed slightly and greeted him too.
"Good day, Elder Bao."
"A good day, it is indeed, young friend." He signaled him to sit down, and once Lin Yi did, he continued with a smile.
"How can I help you today?" Lin Yi had already organized what he would say, so he started explaining his plan.
