DATE: Wednesday, January 13, 2016 LOCATION: The White House – West Wing Entrance & Oval Office LOCAL TIME: 02: 17 PM EST The Marine at the northwest gate saluted crisply as Chad stepped out of the black SUV. He adjusted the brim of his dark fedora—the only deliberate note of flair over an otherwise immaculate charcoal Tom Ford suit. The hat wasn't for style. It bought him an extra half-second to scan faces while people decided whether it was affectation or arrogance. Two Secret Service agents fell in beside him.
Chad's gaze moved like a slow radar sweep, reading observable physiological data the way other men read body language. He noted the clean baseline of the agent on his left, and the erratic, asymmetric microtremors of the recent swap on his right. Target logged. Silver Cord tether initiated, JAY's clinical, synthesized voice hummed silently across Chad's neural link. They passed through the West Wing entrance. By the time they reached the anteroom outside the Oval Office, Chad had cataloged twenty-three people.
Seven were swapped. Three of those were high enough in the chain to matter. JAY's background processing hummed in tandem, silently weaving the Silver Cord into every compromised host. The door opened. The scent of lemon polish and old, historic wood met him before he crossed the threshold. President Harrison stood behind the Resolute Desk, flanked by National Security Advisor Robert Ellison and two others Chad didn't recognize.
Harrison offered the practiced, camera-ready smile of a man who still believed most problems could be solved with a firm handshake and the right speech.
"Mr. Tillman," the President said, extending his hand.
"Glad you could make it on short notice." Chad shook it. Strong, dry grip. Symmetrical pupillary response. Initial incarnate. The man was still running his own file. That was rarer in this building than most realized.
"Mr. President," Chad said, his voice calm and measured.
"I understand you wanted to speak about Libya." Ellison's eyes narrowed slightly as Chad turned to him. The man's mouth was curved upward, but the physiological tells were glaring. Old Nephilim stock. One of those who had worn different faces for centuries. Target seven logged. Primary harmonic thread isolated, JAY chimed.
"Ambassador." Ellison offered a practiced nod.
"We appreciate you accepting the post under difficult circumstances." Chad removed his fedora and placed it on the edge of the Resolute Desk with deliberate care—a small, calculated intrusion on sacred ground that made Ellison's jaw twitch. He settled into the chair and let his eyes drift past the compromised Chief of Staff by the door, landing on the two figures standing just behind the National Security Advisor. The first one was tall, disturbingly handsome—almost too perfect.
Movie-star looks with sharp, symmetrical features. When the man folded his hands, Chad caught a brief flash of six fingers on each hand. Next to him stood an extremely tall, rail-thin man with a completely unnerving grin stretched across his face. The expression never seemed to change or reach his small, beady eyes. His skin looked strangely waxy under the lights. There was something deeply wrong about both of them. No souls. Neither one. Just absolute, terrifying voids in the room's biological data.
Chad kept his expression perfectly pleasant. He leaned back slightly.
"Quite the interesting group we've assembled here, Mr. President. I must say… some of you feel rather… new in town." Ellison's jaw flexed.
"New in town?"
"That's an interesting choice of words, Ambassador." President Harrison chuckled, but it sounded forced. He gestured toward the two tall figures behind him.
"Allow me to introduce our... special consultants. This is Mr. Thor and Mr. Cold. They've been helping us with some rather unconventional national security matters." The handsome one with six fingers gave a small, elegant nod.
"A pleasure to finally meet you, Mr. Tillman." The voice was perfectly modulated, sounding like high-fidelity audio projecting from a speaker rather than human vocal cords. The rail-thin one—Mr. Cold—didn't speak. He just kept maintaining that wide, unsettling grimace, staring at Chad with those tiny, unblinking eyes. Chad returned the nod politely.
"Gentlemen. You certainly... stand out in a crowd." Leaning back in the chair, Chad adjusted his cuffs slightly.
"Now then, why don't we stop pretending this meeting is about Libya or Benghazi? We all know why I'm really here." He let the silence settle.
"So tell me... what exactly do you want from me?" President Harrison shifted slightly behind the Resolute Desk.
"Straight to business, I see." Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. Ellison stepped forward, hands clasped behind his back.
"You've been quite busy these past few weeks, Mr. Tillman. Seizing Tamoanchan... causing quite the stir among certain parties. The Teotl aren't particularly happy with you right now." The tall, handsome one—Valiant Thor—tilted his head slightly.
"You've taken something that doesn't belong to you, Mr. Tillman. Or should we say... Lamech?" Chad simply raised an eyebrow.
"Names are funny things. People hear what they want to hear." Ellison leaned in closer.
"We're prepared to be reasonable. Return Tamoanchan to its rightful owners, and we can come to an arrangement regarding Martin Trent. You want him back, don't you?" Chad's eyes narrowed just a fraction.
"Interesting offer. But I'm curious... what makes you think you are in any position to negotiate with me?" Ellison's lips thinned into a sharp line.
"Because we still have something you want, Mr. Tillman. Martin Trent is alive. But not for much longer unless you cooperate. Return Tamoanchan to the Teotl, hand over the Silver Cord schematics, and we'll return him to you. Intact." President Harrison stayed quiet, though his heart rate had noticeably spiked. He was terrified. Chad leaned forward just enough to hook a finger under the brim of his fedora where it rested on the edge of the Resolute Desk, smoothly pulling it back into his lap.
He slowly spun the brim between his fingers. He let out a soft, amused chuckle.
"You know… for creatures who don't even have souls, you certainly have a lot of demands." The room went dead silent. Ellison froze. Valiant Thor's perfect facade finally slipped, his expression spasming for a fraction of a second before snapping back into its rigid position. Indrid Cold, however, did something far more unsettling: his grimace actually grew wider, stretching beyond what any human jaw should allow with an audible, wet pop. President Harrison cut in, his voice tighter now.
"Mr. Tillman, I think you should watch your tone. These gentlemen are here as valued partners." Chad gave a low, dangerous chuckle.
"Valued partners?" He looked directly at Indrid Cold, then at Valiant Thor. No pulse. No breath.
"You're not partners… you're an invasion wearing expensive suits." He turned his gaze back to the President.
"And you knew. You've known the entire time. Have your valued consultants explained to you, Mr. President, that they have overtaken the population of the rest of the world?" The words landed like a blade on marble. President Harrison's face went very still.
"As for your demand…" Chad continued, voice smooth as silk over steel, "I must decline. Tamoanchan has always been mine. I have just allowed the Teotl to squat there for the last ten thousand years. Besides, Mr. President, Tamoanchan is outside of the jurisdiction of the United States. Now… shall we discuss terms that don't involve me handing over what you lack the authority to enforce?" Ellison was clearly done playing nice.
"You're making a grave mistake, Tillman. We have Martin Trent. We can make this very unpleasant for you." Chad didn't even blink.
"You keep saying that name like it's supposed to scare me. But here's the thing, Robert… I already know exactly where the Count of St. Germain is." Chad slowly rose from his chair, sweeping his gaze across each of them in turn. Scan complete, JAY's voice interrupted. Silver Cord telemetry locked on all nine identified targets within the structure. Harmonic frequencies synchronized. Awaiting command for mass-reset.
Chad straightened his posture as the room's atmospheric pressure plummeted like a storm front rolling in, bringing with it the sudden, sharp scent of ozone. He looked straight at Ellison.
"Mr. President, I regret to inform you that your National Security Advisor has failed to provide wise counsel." The silence stretched for half a heartbeat. Then, soft as a whisper but carrying absolute command, Chad spoke the ancient words.
"וְהָאָרֶץ הָיְתָה תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ" And the Earth was formless and void. The Silver Cord surged. Nine harmonic threads snapped at once. Ellison staggered back, clutching the Resolute Desk. The old Nephilim file was violently evicted, his original soul slamming back into dominance like a man waking from decades of nightmare. His rigid posture collapsed into natural human exhaustion, his lungs pulling a desperate, ragged gasp.
A muffled shout bled through the heavy door, followed by heavy thuds in the anteroom as bodies hit the floor—the Chief of Staff, the Director, the agents, all of them rebooting in synchronized chaos. President Harrison looked genuinely horrified. The double doors to the Oval Office burst open as three Secret Service agents rushed in, hands already dropping to their holsters.
"Mr. President!" one barked, eyes darting between the gasping Ellison and the two unnaturally still consultants. Harrison was half out of his chair.
"What the hell just happened? Ellison? Talk to me!" Chad simply gave the room one last elegant nod.
"Gentlemen," he murmured, his voice cutting through the chaos like a scalpel, "I believe this concludes our little chat. Do try to keep up." With that, he turned on his heel and walked out, his shoes clicking crisply across the marble as alarmed agents parted for him like water around a shark. He was almost to the northwest gate when a calm, perfectly modulated voice called out behind him.
"Mr. Tillman." Chad stopped. He turned slowly. Valiant Thor and Indrid Cold stood at the end of the corridor. Thor's flawless smile was back in place, but his six-fingered hands were clasped a little too tightly. Chad tilted his head.
"Gentlemen. I was wondering when we'd get to the real conversation." Valiant Thor gave a small nod.
"You know more than you should, Architect. The Aesir have been watching since Admiral Byrd first made contact with Gladsheim. Your President Eisenhower himself sat across from us in 1954. He understood the arrangement… stability in exchange for… discretion." Indrid Cold finally spoke. His voice was a flat, hollow monotone.
"Martin Trent is safe for now. He carries information we need. Return Tamoanchan and the Silver Cord administrative keys, and we will deliver him intact. Refuse… and the Aesir will simply take what we require from the ruins of your little American holdout." Chad let the silence stretch for two full beats.
"The Aesir," he echoed softly.
"How quaint. And Gladsheim… how very Norse of you. Tell me, gentlemen—if I refuse, what do you plan on doing with Martin Trent?" Thor finally spoke, voice carrying the faintest edge of strain.
"Martin Trent carries critical access codes. If you refuse, we will extract what we need from him… and then we will turn our full attention to your holdout. The red thread may have shielded your continent for now, but it will not last forever." Chad gave a low, velvet chuckle, stepping closer.
"Extract. Such a polite word for what you really mean. So before you start making threats about my holdout, perhaps you should ask yourselves why two soulless watchers are suddenly so desperate to bargain with the man you thought you'd already erased." Chad gave them one last elegant nod, turning toward the exit.
"This conversation isn't over. But the next time we speak, it won't be on your terms." He stepped out into the cold D. C. air without looking back, the black SUV already waiting, engine purring like it knew exactly who it was carrying.
