Krusuk was angry. He had planned well, ensured that not a single person in the village would be able to resist his kin, and rallied enough male goblins that the human defenders would be easily killed with the weight of their numbers. So why was he angry? Why were his fists clenched so tightly that his uncut nails left red marks on the skin of his Pudge?
Everything should have gone according to his plan, the humans failed to block the shit his kindred threw, they were desperate, they had no choice but to leave the safety of their walls or die from diseases. Everything should have gone according to his plan! All of it! Everything! Yellow blood dripped down the shoulder of his Pudge as Krusuk's nails broke its skin. Beneath him, the giant goblin only scratched its left buttcheek, unimpressed by the pain. But then it suddenly reacted.
And so did every other goblin he had rallied for the raid. Krusuk bashed the head of the Pudge to stop it from moving so much. It stopped, and the only thing left to show its visible irritation was the constant sound of heavy breathing that filled Krusuk's ears. The Pudge had gone restless, it wouldn't be long before it ran wild and charged forward prematurely. All around him, his kindred began to show signs of impatience. They wanted to charge forward and had no thoughts beyond that.
Their desires were getting the better of them, and while Krusuk himself was no better, he at least controlled himself well enough to not fall for the obvious bait. The humans wanted them to come forward. That was their plan. They had countered Krusuk's own genius. Krusuk gritted his teeth and bit his tongue to stop his mind from losing itself as his eyes went to the group of crying women that the village sent out their gates. Crying women. Krusuk's breathing heightened and he felt himself grow hard at the sight.
There were so many... If he could get his hands on all those sows he'd— His thoughts were fortunately interrupted by the Pudge's sudden movement. Krusuk hit it in the head, "stupid! No go! No go! Bad!" The Pudge raised one hand to throw him off its shoulders but then it suddenly stopped and became obedient. Krusuk saw the failed attempt and started punishing the stupid goblin for trying to betray him. He started hitting its head with both his hands relentlessly, all while he hurled insults at it non stop.
This was the only reason why the Pudge hadn't moved an inch when the women suddenly showed the goblins their chest. Every other greenskin around Krusuk had gone feral at the sight of it, they lost their sense of control and wanted nothing more than to satiate their endless lust. To please themselves until they were satisfied. Krusuk himself had to bite his own tongue to prevent himself from charging forward. He was a smart goblin, he knew when traps were made. And this was one of them.
Krusuk expected the ensuing slaughter to be quick, and he was correct: his army was easily killed by their own desires; they jumped for the women, uncaring of the sharp sticks that stood in their way. Their own eagerness killed them, as their speed allowed the stationary sticks to stab through their leathery flesh. For the ones that weren't so eager and thus ducked under the sticks; they were killed by the men who stood beside the women. More sharpened sticks, this time wielded by a human, killed the goblins.
Was it such a powerful weapon? Krusuk's eyes tracked every single human in his line of sight. All of them carried a sharpened stick. This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author's consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. So this was the optimal weapon, then? Why did their first prey carry so many useless items if this was the case! Krusuk could have equipped his army with pointed sticks from the start if it was the best weapon! Krusuk threw the sword he so proudly held away and growled at his Pudge.
"Run! Now! We retreat!" He smirked as his ride turned away from the village in disappointment. He was proud of this decision, as he knew there would come a day where he had a proper army that would not die from the humans' traps. He met the eyes of one sow, the girl too carried a stick. Though this one had a shiny end, on her arm was a circular object. What was it? He did not know but he wanted to. She wore the same things as him, thick animal hide that had been modified to stop itself from rotting.
She also had things covering her entire body. Strange things. All humans had them. Why? Krusuk continued wondering until the girl started running. She was fast because her legs extended fully with every stride. It would not take long for her to reach him and his Pudge, who was so slow that it might as well be a living rock. However, where it was slow, the Pudge more than made up for its lack of speed with strength. Foolish girl! Krusuk laughed as he watched the young human run to him.
She would be his new sow, and she'd birth him a new army. The two others he had gotten died from physical abuse, but this one would survive more than that. Krusuk was sure of it.
"Stop! Fight! Woman! Sow! Yours!" The Pudge grinned at his words. So did Krusuk.
"All yours! Capture!" His ride turned back to the village and took a deep, shuddering breath. Then it stopped and bellowed out a roar so loud Krusuk had to cover his ears. He punched the stupid goblin on the head, "idiot! No noise!" The Pudge only grunted in response. Then it ran for the young human girl. Krusuk's teeth clattered against one another as his ride galloped towards their prey. He held onto the Pudge's flesh tightly and kept himself from falling, all while his eyes remained focused on the woman.
His breathing quickened when they were merely a few steps away from each other. And then everything suddenly hurt. Krusuk's back erupted with pain while his shoulders gushed out blood. He screamed, angry and fearful all at once. He reached out for his wounded shoulder and felt wet, sticky ichor flow out of it. He also felt wood. He turned his head and saw that the pointed stick was now buried into his flesh. Did the human throw it at him?! That was something he never knew was possible!
Krusuk stood up and stared at his Pudge. To his shock, it and the human female fought at even odds. She was nimble, hard to catch. And her weapons were strong enough to hurt the giant goblin. Krusuk had seen the thing she held in the stash back at the tribe. He believed it to be unwieldy, as it was heavy and had a body made of wood. He also thought it was useless. He was wrong.
There was a sharp end to the weapon, and if it is swung downward with that sharp end, then it becomes deadly enough to cut even the skin of a Pudge. Of course, the massive goblin did not care for the pain, it was simply how Pudge's were. This one would move even as it gathered wounds and would only truly stop once its head has been hurt. Krusuk watched from afar and waited for the human's inevitable loss. Once she fell, he'd come in and take her back to the tribe to be bred. She would be a fine sow.
And then she shattered his expectations when she struck the Pudge on the back of the leg. Krusuk's ears picked up the sound of shattered bone and he knew that he needed to assist the Pudge lest it die from a mere human. He picked up a rock and ran forward. He jumped once he was within lunging distance and readied himself to bash the girl on her head, but then she turned her neck so quickly, it almost felt like she knew everything that happened within the battlefield.
She raised the circular thing on her arm and blocked the rock Krusuk held. His hand hurt because the force of his blow went back to them instead of the girl, he screamed in pain as his broken fingers ached. And then he saw a shadow loom over him. The weapon, the one with the sharpened end on one side, the one that could cut the skin of a nogg... It came for his head. His ride roared and pushed the girl aside, this saved Krusuk just in time and instead of his head being split, he lost his right arm.
Another wave of pain washed over his mind and this time, he knew it was better to leave the Pudge and save himself. He was selfish, he did not care for his other kin. They can die, he can always make new ones. Krusuk turned away and ran. The Pudge would soon lose its life, and that was a loss that Krusuk accepted with glee. At least it wasn't him.
