Hey everyone, I want to share an important update about The Last Lance, starting with a thank-you. Whether you've followed, favorited, commented, or simply spent time reading, I appreciate you giving this story a chance. I've decided to undertake a full rewrite of Book One. Looking back over the story, I can see places where I moved too quickly, left important parts of the world underdeveloped, and didn't give the characters enough room to become the people I wanted you to know.

I published before I had fully brought those pieces together, and I want to take the time to do that properly. The heart of The Last Lance remains the same: six people from different species finding belonging in one another while learning what it means to fight, lead, and take responsibility for others. The rewrite will give that journey more room. There will be more everyday life together, more humor, more friction, and more opportunities for friendships and relationships to develop through shared experiences.

I want you to understand what these characters want for themselves as well as what they bring to the squad. Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author's consent. Report any sightings. The academy will also become a fuller part of their lives. Their education should feel like a demanding academic year preparing them for military and mercenary careers, with everything from history and maintenance to ground tactics, command exercises, and simulated spacecraft operations.

Beyond the academy, I'm strengthening the connection between corporate power and the rural and Fringe communities living with its consequences. Those stakes are central to Cassian's convictions and to the larger story. And yes, the mechs are staying. There is still plenty of room for giant machines and questionable decisions. What this means for readers - The rewrite will be released on this same fiction page. You won't need to find and follow a new listing.
