Li Yue'er's eyes flickered open. The strange surroundings instantly made her pupils tingling coldly as she abruptly stood up. Her movement startled everyone, making Long feng and Lord Yi Ming to rise as well.
"Where am I!" Li yu'er asked. Her cold eyes scanned around and seeing Long Feng, she calmed down slightly. Her gaze then paused on Lord Yi Ming.
"Who are you?" She asked coldly.
"Miss Li, this is my master, Lord Yi Ming. He helped us to suppress the thing this time. We couldn't do it." Long feng explained. Li yu'er's hands touched her face and she frowned. Long feng quickly knew that she was feeling for her veil and he scratched his head awkwardly.
"Yan Jian and I were in a hurry, so we kind of forgot the veil back at the pavilion" he said. Li yu'er didn't seem to bother about the veil. She tried to recall what had happened before she fell unconscious. She had just left her seclusion and left her pavilion, even speaking to Yan Jian. Suddenly, she felt the demon entity within her dantian stir into a fit of violent movement. Used to these situations, she retreated to her seclusion room and tried to suppress the demon, only to be met with brute resistance.
Her struggle with the demon entity lasted for hours and ended in her defeat. She fell unconscious out of fatigue. Her mind took in all that happened in an instant.
"Thank you for your help." she clasped her fist at Lord Yi Ming, although her voice and expression remained cold to the extreme. Lord Yi Ming laughed, not taking her personality to heart.
"You are quite an interesting person." He muttered.
"So, young lady, how did that thing get into your dantian? It's quite nasty. Were you born with it?" He asked. Li yu'er's expression changed slightly. She hesitated briefly before replying.
"I wasn't born with it." Was her cold reply.
"But you do know that considering the way your life source is being absorbed, you don't have much more than two years to live?" Lord Yi Ming asked again. Li yu'er remained silent, which was taken as a silent acceptance. Long Feng sighed. So he was right. She was fully aware. You could be reading stolen content. "Miss Li, there may be a way to remove the thing from you!" He spoke up, then went ahead to explain to her all he had discussed with Lord Yi Ming. Listening to him, Li Yue'er's eyes slowly turned colder.
"I am grateful for your help, but I am alright. I will be going now!" Her cold voice cut Long feng short. She took large strides towards the palace door to leave. Long feng stood there, shocked before he turned around and ran after her, standing before the palace door.
"Miss Li, you are not alright. Lord Yi Ming would help you. We can help you." He said. Li yu'er frowned, squinting her eyes.
"Get out of the way!" She spoke, her voice lacking any emotion.
"Miss Li, you need help. Why be so hard on yourself?" Long feng asked. Then to his shock, Li yu'er unhesitatingly smashed her small fist at Long feng.
"Move aside!" Long feng thrust his palm, deflecting her fist, but he was almost flinged out of the palace from the force. He clearly didn't stand much chance against Li Yue'er. He thought she would attack once more, but she didn't. She stood rooted to the floor, an expression of slight apology on her face.
"I didn't mean to do that!" she said in soft voice. Her cold expression was gone by a great deal. She stared at him as he rose to his feet and confirmed that he was alright before letting out an inaudible sigh. Long feng walked up to her again.
"It's fine miss Li, I'm alright. We can help you. Tell Lord Yi Ming how that thing got into your dantian. He may have another way out" He urged. Li Yue'er slowly shook her head.
"He can't. You can't help, both of you. And the less you know, the safer you will be."
"But we're trying to help you. And we can't if you don't let us. We're friends right? And friends always stand by each other right?" Li yu'er remained silent, her expression turning slightly hesitant. After a while, she sighed and began to speak.
"I come from a clan in the Central province, the Lin clan…" she slowly spoke about everything. The Limitless blood assassin, the slaughter of the clan, Limitless blood sparing her and placing the strange black orb into her, Everything. Nothing was omitted. Listening to her speak blandly about such heart wrenching scenes, one would think they had nothing to do with her. She narrated everything as though she was reading out a written script.
When she finished narrating everything, she couldn't describe the faint relief she felt. Though she didn't she didn't show it, she was truly relieved to finally share this burden with someone else. Long feng and Lord Yi Ming were both silent. There was nothing to say. They were both shaken by Li Yue'er's tale and none of them knew how to console her. Or perhaps she didn't need any consolation. After all he had lived with it for eight years. What consolation could heal such a wound?
One more thing that unnerved them both was the fact that the limitless blood assassin was a true blue spirit realm warrior, a person among the top of the continent entirely. Having such a person for an enemy would make anyone feel weak at heart and he unable to sleep at night. Yet this was the exact person Li Yue'er dreamt of killing. Even with her calm, whenever she mentioned his name, her voice would drip with uncontrollable killing intent, evidence of how strong her hatred was.
Long feng stood beside her and sighed.
"I'm sorry for asking. I shouldn't have. I understand how you feel." he spoke gently, not sure if he really understood. Not knowing what else to say, he soon fell silent. Li yu'er silently walked out of the palace without a word. She naturally wasn't leaving. She didn't know the way, or where she was at all. She was merely waiting outside the palace.
"Well I didn't expect this little girl to have such a sad history. It's really unfair for her to carry this burden alone for so long." Lord Yi Ming sighed after she had left. Long Feng didn't say a word in reply to that. He merely stood there, keeping his silence. Lord Yi Ming continued, "I guess all I can do for her is to seal away the demon for a while. You can let her know. I'll be here whenever she agrees." He added. Long feng nodded and walked out of the palace as well.
Li Yue'er was standing outside, staring at the dark sky. The place was calm and silent as a gentle breeze blew over her, making her robes flutter. Long feng stood a short distance from her and followed her line of sight, staring into the empty sky as well.
"You know miss Li, when I was within the Long clan, everyone called me trash. I got so used to being called trash that it became my nickname. At some point, I began to believe them. I began to doubt if I was even born to cultivate. Perhaps I was born to be mediocre, to remain a mortal for life. On many occasions, I wanted to end it all, end all the humiliations, but I didn't. I had more things to hold on to, like my father. Now, the entire Star Mountain City is no longer enough to hold me at all.
Soon, perhaps the Mortal Heaven Sect wouldn't be able to as well. Maybe then the Province itself." Long Feng began after a long silence.
"What I am trying to say is, your clan was exterminated, you have a life threatening demon devouring your life within your dantian, you can't live for more than two years and your sworn enemy, the cause of all these is a spirit realm warrior who probably doesn't even know you exist. That's enough to shatter anyone. But so what? What truly matters is that you are still alive. It doesn't matter whether you live to see tomorrow. What matters is what you did in the present.
All these issues seem great and unbreachable but that's because we believe so. You think you may never be able to reach the spirit realm. You think even if you do so somehow within two years, you may still be unable to defeat him. But that's just the point. You should have faith in yourself and stop worrying about what will be. Sometimes, living in the present is everything you need."
