(Duwinter Restaurant) Gate Clear Date - 26 hours from now. After Ashley sent the information Luna requested yesterday, she accepted the offer rather quickly; There was no concerning rumors or problems with anyone in the party. Luna sat at the table and read through the monsterpedia page for the toxic spitting goat. She was doing some last-minute studying of the known monsters in the gate. Stella was also helping her out a bit, asking her pointed questions about their weak points.
Luna envied that [Material Knowledge] trait of hers. It'd make gate meetings so much easier; She wouldn't even need to do any last minute studying!
"So, you need to avoid hitting just below the throat or the middle of the shoulder area. That's where their venom gland is, and bursting it open will ruin the rest of the materials." Stella said.
"Right…" Luna nodded, "The corrosive property will make its corpse worthless if the gland pops." The two continued to study until there was about an hour until the meeting time.
"Alright," Luna closed the monsterpedia app on her phone and stood up, "I should probably head over to the meeting spot now, it's courtesy to arrive before the designated time."
"Okay~" Stella nodded and stood up as well. Once they were both standing, they embraced each other, "Have fun at the meeting."
"I'm not sure what fun there is to have, but, I'll try." Luna smiled. Before Luna left, Stella gave her a kiss and stuffed the antidotes she created into Luna's bag. Luna hadn't gotten the chance to look at it yet, but, she trusted Stella, so, she simply thanked her with a kiss and headed out. Shortly after, Luna headed to her car, turned on the ignition and set the GPS. They were meeting at a restaurant about a thirty minute drive from Stella's apartment.
Luna turned on bluetooth, put on some music and started to drive. … With just under 15 minutes left until the meeting started, Luna parked her car and looked at the restaurant. It wasn't a place she was familiar with but it looked fancy. Maybe she could take Stella here one day? The restaurant was big, the large windows allowed her to peer inside and see the busy main floor. A bright LED sign of the restaurant's name: 'Duwinter' was on the front, hanging above the double doors.
She couldn't get a good grasp on what their specialty food was from the name alone. And seeing that she hadn't heard of this place before, she wasn't exactly excited for the food. But, since that wasn't the main point today, it didn't matter much. Plus, Stella was cooking food today anyways, she didn't want to eat a meal without her. Luna headed inside the restaurant, the cold air danced across her skin as she took in the bustling atmosphere.
A few TVs were scattered around the room, each of them playing different channels. One was playing highlights from the recent awakener's league matches, another was playing sports. There was even one showing videos of fish swimming. Luna looked at that one, she knew that one would be the one to catch Stella's attention, so she chuckled.
"Good afternoon! Do you have a reservation?" The hostess asked as Luna approached the desk. This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
"I'm looking for private room number 3, it should be reserved by Jean Muller." Luna said calmly. The hostess checked her tablet and after a few moments, she nodded.
"It's just down the hall and to the right." The hostess said.
"Got it, thank you." Luna gave her a small nod before heading to the private room. She knocked on the door a few times before opening it, inside, she saw six people sitting around a table, having a casual conversation. When she opened the door, everyone in the room immediately turned their attention to the newcomer. As soon as Luna stepped inside, one of the women, a woman who looked to be in their thirties, greeted her.
"Hey! You're here for the meeting?" The woman had short black hair that only reached her shoulders. She wore a casual shirt and jacket. Sunglasses were propped on the top of her head.
"That's right," Luna nodded, "I'm Luna Britemill, or ElectricTypeMouse."
"Ah! The mage, right? Nice to meet you! I'm Jean Muller, or Flowers123. We're just waiting for everyone to arrive before starting the meeting, come! Take a seat, do you want something to snack on? Should I call the waiter?" Jean asked with a smile. Luna shook her head and found an empty seat, "I'm alright, thank you." After introducing herself, the conversations started back up again. Jean and the girl next to her started a new conversation with Luna,"Nice to meet you, Ms. Luna!"
The girl next to Jean said with a smile, "I'm Mary, a melee DPS for this gate." Mary was even younger than Luna, the girl looked to be in her mid-teens. She had long, red hair and blue eyes.
"Nice to meet you," Luna replied, "Did you awaken early?" She asked.
"Yeah, haha," Mary scratched the back of her head, "About a year ago, but don't worry! I've been training with Auntie Jean, so I won't be a liability."
"I didn't think you would be," Luna shrugged, "If the association assigned you to this party, they must've thought you were trustworthy."
"See?" Jean said to Mary, "I told you, at most you'll get curious looks. No one's going to look down on you for being young."
"Ahaha," Mary awkwardly laughed, "I guess so."
"Are you two related?" Luna asked.
"Blood-related? No," Jean shook her head, "But, I've changed this kid's diapers! Her mother and father are my best friends, haha, so, we're practically aunt and niece."
"That kind of bond is stronger than blood!" A man chimed in, it was a bulky looking middle-aged man who was bald with a stubble.
"Right?" Jean nodded. The man turned to Luna,"Nice to meet you, mage Luna. I'm Martin, I'll be the main tank for this gate clear; Try not to accidentally kill me, hahaha!" He belly-laughed.
"Nice to meet you," Luna replied, "No promises."
"Bahaha!" Martin laughed. As the pleasantries followed and conversations continued, the time continued to tick down until there were only five minutes left until the meeting started. There was only one person who wasn't there yet: [Water Princess]. When one more minute passed, a knock sounded at the door and it opened, revealing a blue-eyed, blue-haired girl with fair skin. She had a noble look and naturally exuded a elegant aura. From one glance, you'd imagine that she was a princess.
Her ears were slightly pointy, but not at the level of being a full-blooded elf. After one glance at her, Luna figured she must have some type of trait that caused her to look noble. As everyone's attention turned to the newcomer, she spoke,"Sorry I'm late." The blue-haired girl immediately apologized and bowed, "There was an issue at home that stalled me." Jean, being the party leader, naturally spoke for the rest,"No worries!" Jean bolstered, "Technically, you're not even late!"
With that, the atmosphere returned to the joyful, friendly one they had been enjoying.
"Thank you," the girl bowed again, "Then, as it seems that I'm the last one, I'll introduce myself. My alias is Water Princess, and I mainly use water-based magic. You're free to refer to me however you wish, but my last party simply called me 'Water'." Water found an empty seat and sat down. Luna noticed that even the way she sat seemed noble.
'A mix of lifestyle and trait?' Luna assumed but didn't pay it any further attention.
"Great!" Jean said, standing up, "Now that everyone's here, let's start the meeting. Let's go around a circle and introduce ourselves, I'll start. Nice to meet you everyone, I'm Jean, a fencer class and the party leader for this gate clear; The highest ranked gate I've cleared as a party leader was a C+ rank gate." After she sat down, the person on her right stood up, Mary. She looked significantly more nervous than Jean did.
"N-Nice to meet you everyone! I'm M-Mary, a swordswoman and melee DPS for this gate. This is my first mid-tier gate clear, but, I'll do my best to not be a liability!" When she sat down, the next person stood up. Everyone introduced themselves one-by-one until eventually, it was Luna's turn. Luna stood up and calmly introduced herself,"I'm Luna, an electric-type mage." She said.
Normally, she'd end her introduction there, but, perhaps it was from being with Stella all the time, but, she felt like adding a little joke at the end, "And I'll try not to electrocute everyone." That roused a few chuckles. After a few more introductions, everyone had introduced themselves. So, Jean stood up and properly started the meeting,"Alright, so, we've officially started the meeting.
First, I'll go over the basic information that everyone should know by now: The gate we're clearing is the association has named: 'Rocky Androsia'. It's been designated as a C- rank gate…" Jean continued on, explaining the basic information the the association provided them. After about ten minutes, she finally moved onto unprovided information.
"First, let's talk about the known monsters: The toxic spitting goat, rockbelly eagle, and stoneskinned eagle. The goat is the only one of the three that cannot fly, it attacks with corrosive spit than can melt through your equipment if hit. However, its spit has a long, obvious charge-up time, and if we're fast enough, we can dispatch them before it gets the chance to attack. I'd like us to prioritize taking them out.
If they land a hit, they can completely ruin our tank's defenses, endangering not only them but the whole party. Any counterpoints or things you'd like to add?" She asked. Luna raised her hand and spoke,"We should avoid targeting the middle of their shoulder as that's where their venom glands are located. If we pop it, the corpse will become worthless. Other than that, in a brawl I believe that the melee DPS should focus them. Ranged DPS should prioritize the aerial monsters."
"I have no complaints with that, anything else?" Jean asked, looking around.
"Yes," Water raised her hand, "I can block the spitting goat's mouth with water, preventing it from shooting poison."
"I think you should only do that if there's no other monsters to deal with." Amelia, the archer said, "Just let the melee DPS deal with them."
"I agree," Larry, the brawler said, "Save your mana for the air fellas. I think if you coordinate with Luna, the mix of water and lightning magic will be effective against them."
"Alright, that's fine with me." Water nodded.
"Good, alright, if there's nothing else, let's move onto the next monster: The rockbelly eagle…" … The meeting continued with everyone discussing the monsters, there party position when they enter the gate, and the overall plan. Eventually, as the meeting was coming to a close, there was one topic left to discuss.
"Alright, so, the last thing," Jean started, "What potions are everyone bringing and using?" She asked.
"Just some standard buffs for me." Robert, the explorer said. That was mostly everyone's answer. Some people pulled out their potions and showed them to everyone to see if anyone wanted to trade or needed them. After a bit, Jean looked at the mages, Luna and Water.
"Are you two fine?"
"Yes, I'll be fine." Water replied with a nod.
"I'm okay too." Luna nodded, "If needed, I do have an antidote for the spitting goat."
"Oh!" Mary let out, "I looked on the exchange for those but I couldn't find anything affordable! Do you have it on you?"
"Yeah, I should." Luna nodded and opened her bag. The bag was already filled with the other potions she'd be bringing. It didn't take her long to find the antidote though as it was stuffed at the top. She pulled it out and froze. There was one thing she completely forgot. Stella had made the potion for her. [The Adorable Mouse's Anti-Goat Antidote] Grade - C- Creator: Raccoon An antidote for if you get hit by toxic spitting goat venom. Created by the '(genius!!!!)' and '(cutest!!!!)' alchemist, Raccoon for her '(cute!!!)' and '(adorable!!!)' girlfriend ElectricTypeMouse. Lasts for 45 minutes. Prevents infection. And, as it turns out, everyone had turned to look at her when she pulled out the potion.
