Chelsea The group lingered over the last of the meal longer than usual, no one in a hurry to leave what felt like a completely different life for a few hours. Eventually, though, plates emptied, the warmth of the dining room settled into something softer, and they made their way upstairs. Chelsea walked a little slower than the others. The excitement from earlier had not vanished, but it had shifted. There was something sitting just beneath it now, something she could no longer ignore. Sleep.
Sleep meant a decision. She followed Adriane into their room, closing the door quietly behind them. The space was simple but comfortable. A real bed. Clean linens. A small table. And in the corner, a full-length mirror. Chelsea drifted toward it without thinking.
"So, this is what everyone sees now," Chelsea mumbled, stopping in front of the mirror and studying her reflection.
"Yup, what do you think?" Adriane asked from the bed, already settled, one arm propping her up as she watched. Chelsea tilted her head slightly, taking herself in from different angles, almost like she expected the reflection to shift if she looked at it long enough.
"Damn," Chelsea said.
"That's what I think." Her features were familiar, but everything felt… balanced now. Her eyes no longer overwhelmed her face. The color had deepened too, leaning more red than orange, giving her a sharper look that somehow still fit her. Her hair fell differently as well, naturally framing her face, one side shadowed in a way that felt intentional rather than accidental. She pulled at the edge of her top, then slipped it off to get a better look. There was no denying the difference.
Her body had filled out into something older. She definitely had a chest now. Her breasts were larger than she would like. She feared they may get in the way while fighting or the cliché of being stuck trying to fit through a tight space. Nothing to be done though. What's done is done. She would have to adapt. She took a step back to take herself in. She was definitely a bit more intimidating now. She rested a hand briefly at her side, thoughtful.
"Not subtle," she murmured, more to herself than anything. There was a small, practical concern behind the observation. Movement. Balance. Space. Things she would have to adjust to. Nothing she could not handle. Her wings drew her attention next. She shifted slightly and extended one out. The span alone made her pause. The tip reached the far wall without effort, and she had not even pushed it to its limit. The structure felt stronger too. More stable.
"Excited to try these out," she said, a small smile forming.
"I bet at this size I could even carry someone." She rolled her shoulder once, testing the motion, then let the wing relax back into place. There was a quiet satisfaction in the way it moved. Adriane watched her for a moment before speaking again.
"Any idea what you're going to do tonight?" Chelsea's expression softened, the earlier excitement dimming slightly as the question sat.
"I don't. Kind of dreading going to sleep," she admitted. She crossed her arms loosely, leaning her shoulder against the wall near the mirror.
"My gut reaction tells me to say no and run but my mind is telling me to hear him out. What if he can give me a way to level or something comparable?" Adriane's expression grew more serious.
"Please be careful, Chels. You're smart. You will figure out the right answer for you. But please think about the outcomes before making a choice." Chelsea nodded slowly. She understood what was being said. This was not just about power. It was about what came with it. She let out a quiet breath and moved away from the mirror. Adriane shifted back on the bed and patted the space beside her. Chelsea climbed in and turned onto her side, facing her.
Without thinking about it, she stretched one wing over Adriane, letting it drape around her like a second blanket. The warmth settled in almost immediately, soft and steady. Bea had not been exaggerating. It was comfortable in a way that was difficult to describe. Chelsea adjusted slightly, getting settled, her thoughts still circling.
"You've got this," Adriane whispered. Chelsea closed her eyes, holding onto that for just a moment before sleep inevitably came.
"There she is," the deep voice of Bodarex boomed before Chelsea even opened her eyes. It found her before her thoughts did. The sound settled into her bones, low and resonant, like something that belonged there. It stirred something restless in her chest, something that made her want to lean into it instead of recoil. She took a slow breath, then opened her eyes. The mist stretched out in every direction, soft and endless. It looked the same as before, but it felt different now. Or maybe she did.
"I know the drill," she said, rolling her shoulders once as if preparing herself.
"I'll wait for you to form." His laugh came quickly, rolling through the space in waves. It wrapped around her, pressed against her skin, and made her legs feel lighter than they should.
"Still so charming, even all grown up." She shifted her stance, steadying herself. The reaction was still there, but she wasn't being knocked off her feet anymore. That felt like progress. Magalesa formed first, her shape pulling together out of the haze like a half-finished thought. She looked exactly as Chelsea remembered. Detached. Mildly inconvenienced. Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator. Chelsea's eyes flicked to her for a moment, then away.
The air changed. Bodarex followed. The mist around him darkened, twisted, then ignited in ways Chelsea didn't have words for. His head took shape slowly, not appearing so much as forcing the space to accept him. Light and motion lived beneath the surface of him, constant and unpredictable. He looked at her.
"So, little demon child, have you made a decision? Would you like to take me on as your new patron god?" Chelsea didn't answer immediately. She folded her arms loosely, buying herself a moment. Her heart was beating faster than she liked, but her mind felt sharp.
"First, let me ask a few questions," she said, glancing toward Magalesa.
"Magalesa, are you okay with this arrangement he's proposing?" She tried to sound formal. Controlled. Like this wasn't a conversation with something that could unmake her if it felt like it. Magalesa didn't even hesitate.
"Oh yeah, please. If he wants to take you off my hands, I'm perfectly fine with it." Chelsea blinked. Ouch but ok. For a split second, something hot and sharp flickered in her chest. Then she pushed it down. There was no point in reacting her words.
"Okay," she said, her voice smoothing back out.
"Second, what boons would I gain by switching gods?" Bodarex chuckled, slower this time, like he was savoring the question.
"As I've said, I would give you my blessing," he said.
"Being the god of chaos gives me a little… leeway… when it comes to stretching the rules of what's allowed." What the hell did that mean? Is he being cryptic? Or is it some cheat skill that would make her level?
"My blessing will also come with a title." His gaze shifted slightly, looking toward Magalesa.
"A title with much more long-term use." Chelsea nodded, her mind already working. A blessing and a title. Something that lasted. Already more than she had.
"What about Gerard?" The question came out before she could overthink it. Bodarex paused.
"Who?" His attention slid toward Magalesa.
"A human who was also summoned when the demon was," she explained, almost bored.
"Naturally, I'd expect he stays under me."
"Agreed," Bodarex said immediately.
"Humans." He made a small sound of distaste.
"The human will stay with the Magal." Chelsea frowned. Her first instinct was to push back. To argue. To insist. Instead, she stopped herself. Gerard didn't need to be anywhere near this. Not this… thing between gods. Not whatever came with Bodarex. She let out a slow breath and nodded.
"That seems like the right choice."
"A girl after my own heart," Bodarex said, pleased.
"Allows thought and reason to rule her choices over emotion." Chelsea didn't respond to that right away. She wasn't sure if it was a praise to manipulate her. She shifted her weight again, then looked up at him fully.
"I think I've made my choice," she said.
"She doesn't seem interested in me, you're willing to give me stuff and are interested in me being under you. Let's do this." She paused, then added, almost out of habit, "Do I need to bleed on a contract or something?" Bodarex laughed again, louder this time.
"No, though I do like your enthusiasm. Your consent is good enough."
"You sure?" she asked, a small grin tugging at her lips.
"I don't mind." There was a flicker in his form, something like approval.
"Very sure." Chelsea hesitated then. Just for a moment. Her mind ran through everything again. The risks. The unknowns. Adriane's warning. The way Bodarex felt to be around. Then she made the choice.
"Alright," she said, more quietly this time.
"I'm in. I consent to you being my patron god." The air shifted immediately. Not violently. Not painfully. But there was a shift. Is that what a blessing feels like? A light breeze? Then… something settled around her, or into her, she couldn't tell which. It felt like standing in the path of a stampede and it parting around her. But there was no stampede. Only the feeling of relief. Bodarex watched her closely.
"When you wake up, take a look at the blessing and title," he said.
"For now, let's conclude this meeting." His gaze drifted toward Magalesa again.
"Magal, a pleasure."
"Oh no, the pleasure was all mine," she replied, her tone dry and sarcastic. Chelsea glanced between them one last time. It felt like she had just stepped onto a road she wouldn't be able to step off of again. The mist began to thin around her, the edges of the world softening as it pulled away. Bodarex's presence lingered the longest. Then it was gone. Chelsea's eyes fluttered open slowly. For a moment, she didn't move. She just existed in the warmth.
Adriane was wrapped around her from behind, one arm tucked beneath both of them, the other draped securely across Chelsea's middle like she had no intention of letting her go anywhere. It was firm, protective, and oddly gentle at the same time. Chelsea let out a quiet breath through her nose. She didn't hate this. Careful not to disturb her, she shifted her focus inward and summoned The Eyes. The familiar overlay slid into place, faint and translucent, hovering just beyond her physical sight.
