Chương 80: Chapter 68. Northern Border

Waking up in the morning was easy. Sarah and Anna's hands were wrapped around me and I was gently shaken awake by them. For a few minutes after, we all just laid there. In time though, Sarah was the first to get up with a regretful look on her face and probably mine as well. After she left, Anna and I went through the normal routine of our mornings. I ate breakfast, then changed and went to the stables to grab our horses. Before long, we were on our way North. Today, Sarah was my conversation partner.

It worked out well for me since I wanted to ask her about this " King's Road" thing." Hi John! How was your morning?"" It was fine, I had savory porridge for breakfast, I even brushed this horse and Anna brushed hers. Sarah and I had a light chat as we left the Gates of Northern Riposte. I waited until the town was out of our sight before I asked her about the road. Once the conversation had hit a low, I proceeded to ask her about it.

If you were at the front of the convoy the past couple of days, you would have seen it. I can't even see where the wall bends to encompass the rest of the land, even though we are still so far from it. Is that wall made out of the same blackstone as the Capital City?"

"Yup! The traveling has only been this smooth because of my Father after all! And yes, it is! I followed Sarah to the front of the convoy and we had our horses taken by some of the Soldiers, who took them to the stables. I was glared at by them, but they still took my horse. I hope they don't do anything to the horse. I might not have had the horse for long, but I've grown attached to it. Maybe I should see if I could keep the horse after all of this? I'll have to ask Warrick about it later.

Anyways, Sarah took me by the hand and brought us next to Cynthia, but behind Warrick and Aqua. They all looked really happy for some reason? Anna, Asha and Sharon were behind where Sarah, Cynthia and I were standing. What am I forgetting?" Now, now, Matthew. I told you not to worry about it! Just wait a few more minutes and you'll see!"" Sarah placed her finger on Cynthia's mouth and seemed to convince her to keep quiet. There went that lifeline." It's been so long; I hope he's been eating well."" I wonder if he's made any friends while up here?" I heard Warrick and Aqua speaking in front of us. They seemed to be in a great mood. The long giant doors in front of us opened. The giant black castle had a single figure walking out of it.

A giant 3 eyed man with 3 horns protruding from his light-yellow hair that matched the color of his eyes walked out of the door. He had multiple scars running down his face and from what I could tell, also had them on his arms and hands. He was calm until he saw me. He started to release killing intent and was preparing to lunge at me. All the girls rushed around me. I feel like a kid right now. Regardless of the Status of the girls, the giant man spoke in a rough voice." Young Ladies, please move, that's a Human.

We can't let it cause harm to our Gre...."" General Donovon, I will only give this Command once. Stand down now." Warrick was leaking a large amount of killing intent and mana. I guess the man's name is Donovon? He seemed to listen to Warrick. I felt his bloodlust recede." Hey everyone, thanks for defending me, but please don't do something like this again. Like I keep telling you guys, I don't want you to get hurt." Sarah turned to me and began to speak."

Matthew, if we were in a similar situation, would you just sit back and let us get hurt?"" I highly doubt any Demons would do that to you girls." Sarah turned her eyes up at me." You know what we mean, Matthew." GRIP! Asha spoke to me instead of Sarah. It was at this moment I noticed a problem. The pressure on my arm tells me to address it immediately." Asha... I guess you haven't noticed, but you're hugging my arm."

"!"" No--- I-I- I didn't mean to..." Anna placed her hand on Asha's shoulder and they began to whisper to each other. I was just confused." Mom! Dad! Sisters!" I heard a loud voice behind me. I turned to look, and I found what looked like a younger Warrick with Aqua's hair and eye color. Wait... Northern Border! Warrick told me his oldest son was stationed here. What was his name though?"" Alex!" Grip! Grip! Pull! Thank you, Warrick for the assist! Warrick and Aqua went and greeted their son.

Sarah and Cynthia looked at each other. Then they both grabbed one of my hands and pulled me to walk with them. In a couple of steps, we were with Warrick, Aqua and Alex. Alex looked at us and began to speak." Cyn. You've grown so big! Before, you were only to my knee!" Release. Alex hugged Cynthia after she let go of my right wrist. Now that I get a good look at him, he appears to be slightly taller than Warrick. Cynthia returned the hug and seemed to be happy to be reunited with her brother.

In time, they separated and Alex went to Sarah." Big Brother Alex, it's good to see that you're doing well!"" Sarah, I've missed you. How are you?"" I'm doing well, Brother! Please, let me introduce someone to you!" Grip! Sarah gripped my hand harder and brought me to her side." This is my Fiancé and the Love of my Life!" Sarah started to whisper to Alex. After she finished, Alex and I both just looked at each other. I guess I'll put my best foot forward?"
