Chương 71: Chapter 70: The Saintess

Seraphina watched the back of Nina as she walked away, her hands clenching. Seven times. This was the seventh time with this woman and her ninth life in total, though some were cut short. In the first life, her plans were stopped by unexpected circumstances. Nate Monet ended up dying, and so did his sister. She eventually took the Saintess position after spending a long time without her magical abilities. However, the peace did not last for long, for within five years, another calamity struck.

That calamity made Seraphina realize that the prophecy written down spoke of the requirements needed to end, to truly defeat, the Calamity. In the original life, they had thought the term "Foreign" meant people from other nations. Therefore, the Hero's Party consisted of individuals from different nations. As for the Reborn Star, the Holy Nation had believed it referred to a commoner receiving a new status, a new level of life. Because of that, they sent such a person to join the Hero's Party.

But because they believed that the Great Evil was the Calamity they had to destroy, they failed to realize that after that, the true Calamity would appear. They thought the Great Evil was the Calamity. They did not know that the true Calamity would come afterward. Safe to say, the world vanished. And in the next moment, in her second life, Seraphina awoke. This time, she opened her eyes to see Nate Monet standing in front of her. She had truly returned back in time. Nate Monet had also returned back in time.

Neither of them knew why. However, after explaining the future scenario, she was able to convince Nate Monet to put his revenge aside until the Great Calamity was dealt with. But even when the Great Calamity arrived, they still did not meet the requirements needed to overcome it. And as she died for the second time while the world was destroyed, she met with the goddess. She found herself in a dark area, walking through it while wondering if she had truly died. That was when she encountered the goddess.

The goddess told her that she needed to stop fighting fate and allow the world to end as it was meant to. But Seraphina refused. She was not about to allow that to happen. And just as the goddess was about to explain that all things were a matter of cause and effect, Seraphina prepared to throw a punch at her. However, before she could attack, she woke up once again in the hall. But this time, Nate Monet was no longer there.

It was still the time when she was searching for an attendant, someone who could fill her role within the Hero's Party. But seeing that Nate Monet was gone, Seraphina felt anger. How dare he leave me alone in this? She was furious. In a fit of frustration, she sent out a secret order to find both of them, Jeanette Monet and Nate Monet. Once she found him, he would have to explain why he left this hellhole of a job for her to bear alone.

However, despite the search continuing, they could not find either of them, as though they had vanished. While searching, she continued hearing rumors about someone who started off being able to impersonate people. Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. Hearing that, Seraphina could not help but frown. But she was not interested in novelty. She dealt with serious matters. If the person in question was not useful, then she had no reason to care.

Eventually, she heard about the Calamity incident. Hearing about it, Seraphina could not help but frown. From her previous life, there was no way to stop such events. Everything was out of reach unless it involved something they could personally influence within their group. Nate had more freedom in choosing how he wanted to spread information and act, but Seraphina could not simply give him more power due to what the goddess later explained was a matter of cause and effect.

And so, after hearing about the incident and eventually discovering that savior was the person named Nina, who was infiltrating as Rosa, and that she had stopped the calamity-type event, Seraphina became interested. However, she did not want to interfere with this unknown variable until she was certain. Later, as the end of the year drew closer, Seraphina knew she could not delay things any longer. So she summoned them.

Who would have thought that the moment Nina appeared, Seraphina would feel a sense of crisis coming from her? Without hesitation, Seraphina killed her the moment she stepped into the vicinity. After killing her, Seraphina felt time rewind. Once again, she was back in her seat. Thinking she was going insane, when Nina approached again and stopped at the stairs, Seraphina walked toward her, ripped out her heart, and allowed her to die. Once again, she was brought back. She sat there, waiting for the person to arrive.

But this time, she noticed something. The door was open. Nina looked frightened. Could it be? Seraphina's eyes narrowed. Sure enough, when she stood up, she saw Nina take a step backward. And just as she did, the knight guard cut her down, stating plainly:"Your refusal to follow proper etiquette displeases us." And once again, Seraphina found herself back at her desk. The sixth time. Seraphina thought: Something is not right about this.

So even when she saw the terror in Nina's eyes, she waited to hear her out, despite her instincts telling her that this person was dangerous and should not remain alive. She listened absentmindedly, answering according to her previous intentions. But when Nina mentioned the prophecy and how she could see the future, Seraphina could not tolerate it. She grabbed Nina by the neck. As Nina struggled and screamed, Seraphina restrained her before slowly torturing her, calling out for the goddess to appear.

And when the goddess finally arrived, it was too late. Nina had already died. Before time turned back, the goddess appeared before Seraphina. Seraphina looked at her with anger.

"Why do you protect this person so much?"

"It is highly irrational, don't you think?" The goddess remained silent.

"You are unbelievable." Just as Seraphina was about to leave, the goddess spoke.

"If you wish to break the cycle, she is your key to freedom." Hearing those words, Seraphina paused slightly before leaving. And once again, she found herself sitting in her seat, watching the girl walk toward her. In the seventh life, she listened to the goddess's words. She went through the process again. And when they were about to fight the second Calamity. During that life, she had grown closer to Nina. Nina was much more lively than the first time they mate.

What Seraphina never expected was that, at the critical moment, the girl would break down and kill herself. When Seraphina returned, she was furious. She spent her time with the goddess screaming, yelling, and cursing Nina. Because of Nina's actions, the world was destroyed once again. She returned a ninth time. And when she saw this Nina for the seventh time, who was similar to the first Nina she met in her third life, Seraphina believed it had to be a trick. How could she not remember?

Reaching her breaking point, Seraphina cleanly cut Nina's head off. She told the goddess not to even attempt to turn back time again. Otherwise, she would walk through everything once more before watching the Calamity destroy the world. Even if she had to take matters into her own hands. This was the tenth time. The tenth time she had lived, the tenth time she had seen the world destroyed, and the eighth time she had watched Nina walk down this same hallway... She was tired. She did not know what to do.

She truly did not know. After going through the motions and deciding to deal with the messenger, who would later become a problem, she used this opportunity to handle him before he could cause future issues. Then she looked at Nina's back.

"If she dares break down, like last time when we reach the end..."
