While the S. A. Group were panicking, the real-world Satisfy community was having a complete meltdown. The global forums were moving so fast it was impossible to read every post. Thousands of threads were being created every single minute. The two world messages had hit the server back-to-back, sending players into an absolute frenzy. [Discussion] A MAGIC SAINT?! WHO IS IT?! User_FireballCaster: Guys, this changes everything. Which top-tier magician just got the class? User_IceKing: It has to be Laella.
She's the top ranked mage right now. She probably found a hidden quest. User_DarkMage99: No way, it's definitely Yura. She's Rank 6 overall. Her dark magic is insane. User_SmartGuy: You guys are all idiots. Did you even read the first message? User_SwordDude: What first message? User_SmartGuy: The one right before it! [An unknown person with infinite potential has defied the laws of life and death...] Players don't defy life and death to get a class. They just do respawn.
That message sounds like a resurrection event. I bet the Magic Saint isn't even a player. It's probably an NPC! User_TrollFace: An NPC? That's stupid. NPCs don't get world messages. It's obviously a bug. Satisfy probably has its first bug. User_HealMePlz: Maybe the NPC killed a player and took over their body to become a player causing them to become Magic Saint User_ConspiraciesMaster: Wait, what the @HealMePlz is telling might be the truth. The S.
A group could create an army of NPC turned humans and conquer the Earth. The wild theories kept flying. Nobody had any real answers, which only made the arguments louder... Molten metal glowed beneath the furnace. Sparks danced with every swing of the hammer. Clang! Clang! Grid drew in a deep breath before setting the finished hoe aside.
"An Epic rating. Eight hours of work. Not bad." Just as he reached for another iron ingot, brilliant golden letters spread across his vision. His eyes scanned the message once. Then twice. The hammer slowly slipped from his fingers. Clang!
"... Magic Saint?" Silence filled the dusty workshop.
"... Another Legendary Class?" Grid stared at the message for a long moment. He clicked his tongue.
"... Damn." He rubbed the back of his neck.
"I finally became famous, and now another legend appears." He wasn't angry. He was just disgruntled. And definitely a little jealous. He had repeatedly died in a high-level zone for three months to get his class. He had fought multiple strong bosses. He had created five different legendary items before his class was even announced to the world. Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere. Meanwhile, somewhere out there, someone else had just become a legend.
Their achievement was already being broadcasted across the sky.
"... Damn lucky bastard." The words escaped his lips almost involuntarily. Across the forge, Khan looked up from the sickle he was polishing. The old blacksmith smiled kindly.
"Are you jealous?" Grid looked away.
"... Maybe." Khan chuckled.
"That's good." Grid blinked.
"... Good?"
"A craftsman who envies another craftsman's work will continue improving." Khan placed the sickle on the wooden table.
"But a craftsman who only envies others will forget to look at what he's already created." Grid fell silent. His gaze wandered around the messy workshop. He thought about the legendary greatsword, Failure, sitting securely in his inventory. He looked at the rows of sturdy farming tools he and Khan had forged together, waiting to be delivered to the fields. Through the open window, he could hear the bustling sounds of Reidan's citizens starting their day. Everything here had been built by his own hands.
The irritation and jealousy tight in his chest slowly eased.
"... Old man."
"Hm?"
"... You're annoyingly good at saying things like that." Khan simply laughed. At that moment, the smithy's door opened. Lauel stepped inside. He was carrying several rolled maps under his arm.
"I thought I'd find you here." Grid shrugged.
"You came because of the world announcement?" Lauel nodded.
"I did." He placed the documents on the table.
"I can't seem to find any matches for this description in any of the current magician rankers or famous magician NPCs." Grid raised an eyebrow.
"Even your information network couldn't find anything?"
"Nothing." Lauel's smile disappeared. He didn't cover his face or strike a pose.
"That is what concerns me," Lauel said seriously.
"The major guilds are probably searching frantically. And the empire is undoubtedly doing the same. But no one knows who could possibly be the legend." Grid folded his arms.
"... So they're hiding."
"Or," Lauel corrected, "they have allies capable of hiding them." Silence lingered in the hot forge. It was broken as Grid simply leaned over and picked his hammer back up.
"... Well." Clang! The steel rang beneath his strike.
"So what if another legend was born?" Clang!
"I'm still Grid." Clang!
"If they're strong..." A grin slowly spread across Grid's face.
"... then we'll just become stronger. After all, we've got the strongest guild." Khan smiled quietly. Lauel returned the smile. There it was. The Grid they knew. A man who constantly felt jealousy and envy, but turned it into fuel to improve himself. On a muddy, rain-soaked battlefield in the Belto Kingdom, the sound of clashing steel echoed loudly. Ares, the God of War, swung his heavy broadsword. He cut through three enemy soldiers in a single, brutal arc.
Rain dripped from his armor, washing the mud from his face. He laughed loudly, thoroughly enjoying the chaos of the fight. His vice-commander ran up to him, dodging a stray arrow.
"Commander Ares! The world messages!" Ares kicked an enemy shield away and paused. He pulled up his system window and read the golden text. [A Magic Saint has been born for the first time!] A massive, thrilled grin spread across Ares's face. He threw his head back and laughed loudly over the sound of the rain.
"A Magic Saint!" Ares cheered. He hoisted his broadsword onto his shoulder.
"That is fantastic! Our army needs a strong magician!"
"Sir?" his vice-commander asked, looking confused. Ares turned to his troops. He had the goal of becoming the first player king in Satisfy and didn't plan on letting go of the chance to recruit an legendary Magic Saint.
"Listen up!" Ares yelled. His booming voice easily cut through the noise of the battlefield.
"I want the Ares Army dispatched across the entire continent! Search the magic towers! Search the capital cities! Find this Magic Saint!" Ares grinned, his eyes burning with ambition.
"Find them, and tell them the God of War wants them in his army!" Ares ordered.
"I don't care how much gold it costs. We are bringing that legend home!" Ares charged back into the fight, completely unaware that the Magic Saint he so desperately wanted was currently standing in a quiet alchemy tower, trying to figure out what to eat for dinner.
