The group walked through the busy streets of Stormbreak. The sun was starting to dip behind the high stone walls of the city. They stopped in front of the polished white stone building. The sign above the heavy oak doors read: Tower of Miracles. They walked inside. The Alchemy Tower was warm and bright. Long wooden tables filled the main room, covered in glass beakers and iron scales. Rudra pulled up the building's status window to check its current level.
[Tower of Miracles] [Intermediate Alchemy Tower (Level 4)] - All alchemists working inside this tower receive a 100% increase in Alchemy Experience gain. - This buff remains active until the user's alchemy mastery reaches the current level of the tower.
List of Products that can be Produced - Health Potions, Mana Potions, Enhancement Stones, Communication Device, Magic Orbs, Strengthening Potions, Agility Potion, Stamina Potion, Intelligence Potions, etc; - Minerals and Production materials can be transformed or enhanced. - Due to the presence of a High Witch, the success rate of alchemy is increased by 30% for all products.] Rudra swiped the window away. He grinned.
The double experience buff was completely useless to him right now as his own alchemy skills were already much higher than Intermediate Level 4. The main reason he chose to work in the tower is to use the success rate buff it got due the presence of Elara and not to mention that the blessing of Althea, the goddess of alchemy, further boosted his success rate by another 40%. And the fact that the creating the catalyst would would increase the experience of the alchemy tower, is just a plus point.
"Alright, everyone," Rudra said, clapping his hands together.
"Clear a space in the center." Alex quickly moved a stack of empty glass vials off a nearby table. The other witches packed up their tools and stepped back. Mumud floated forward. The silver-haired mage looked incredibly anxious. He wrung his pale hands together. Rudra stepped into the center of the room. He dropped his heavy metal block onto the stone floor. It unfolded and shifted until it formed the large, sturdy shape of the [Protean Crafting Cauldron].
The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. He reached into his inventory. He pulled out the [Source of Agony], the demonic catalyst. The black fog rolled off the stone. The witches in the room took several steps back as the dark energy made the air feel heavy. Rudra then held up the [Heartblood of the First Orca], the divine catalyst. The warm golden light pushed back against the black fog. The two opposing energies sparked and hissed, trying to destroy one another.
"My Lord, if those two items touch, the resulting explosion will level this entire building," Mumud whispered.
"No need to worry about that Mumud, as even in the case that the fusion fails, I can contain it," Rudra said calmly.
"But before I get to this, Elysia we need to discuss something." Rudra turned his head and looked directly at Elysia. Elysia stood up straighter.
"Yes, My Liege?"
"Elysia, I have gotten a trial from the Goddess of Alchemy, Althea," Rudra explained.
"If I am able to create an alchemical product by combining and balancing 2 conflicting materials, I would receive a lead to obtain the inheritance left behind by Althea, the Goddess of Alchemy." Elysia's silver eyes widened.
"If someone is able to claim the inheritance, they basically get the knowledge to become a Legendary Alchemist," Rudra said.
"They get all the skills, all the formulas, and all the knowledge handed right to them." He paused, letting the words sink in.
"But I want you to know something, Elysia," Rudra continued.
"Normal Legends are strong. Becoming a Legend would allow you to handle legendary ingredients and allow you to make legendary feats. But if you become an Alchemy Saint, you will be able to use ordinary ingredients to make legendary items. But I must mention there has never been an Alchemy Saint before.." Rudra looked over at Piaro. The farmer gave a slow, proud nod.
"An Alchemy Saint usually has a much higher ceiling for growth than a normal Legend as you will have the potential to become a God," Rudra said.
"But honestly? The inheritance left by Althea is probably an exception. Because she is a Goddess, whoever takes her inheritance will probably have the exact same potential as an Alchemy Saint." Elysia listened quietly.
"Here is the catch," Rudra said.
"Becoming the very first Alchemy Saint is going to be incredibly difficult. There is no guide. It is a brutal, unpaved road. You will have to fail thousands of times to reach the peak on your own." Rudra looked her right in the eyes.
"So, I am leaving the choice to you," Rudra said.
"Do you want to get the inheritance and become a legendary alchemist? Or do you want to forge your own path to become an Alchemy Saint?" The room went dead silent. The only sound was the hissing of the demonic force fighting against the divine energy in Rudra's hands. Elysia looked down at the stone floor. She thought about her life. She thought about the Red Knights.
She thought about her brother, Piaro, who had literally discarded the pointless rule and burdens he followed and became a legend and a saint just by following his own path. Elysia looked up. Her silver eyes were sharp and clear. There was no hesitation.
"I do not want the inheritance, My Liege," Elysia said firmly. She stood tall, her shoulders squared with fierce pride.
"I have spent my life following what other said. I followed the formulas. I followed the orders. It brought me nothing but betrayal and poison. If I am going to stand beside you, and beside my brother, I will do it on my own merit. I will become the First Alchemy Saint by my own hands." Rudra smiled. A warm, genuine sense of pride washed over him.
