This little thing... Vince flipped the small, circular badge back and forth in his hand. As the name implied, it was used to link a Crystal to an object and construct an energy conduit, allowing him to directly drive the Crystal equipped on the object without interfering with the Crystal he himself had equipped... One was for objects under 10 kilograms, the other for objects under 100 kilograms... If he wanted to "enchant" his heavy spear, he had to use this blue [Interface Module (Medium)].
Thinking this, he slowly pressed the faint blue badge against the heavy spear... [Use Interface Module on current object?...] [Confirm Use...] With a mental command from Vince, the badge pressed against the spear seemed to lose its physical form, turning into a phantom projection.
Waves of energy began to radiate from the projection, causing the heavy spear resting across his legs to gradually feel lighter and lighter, until it lost all its weight and transformed into a translucent blue state, just like the badge. It looked as though it was bound by some sort of energy field, continuously vibrating. Vince didn't dare move a muscle, terrified that shifting his legs might accidentally knock the energy-form spear apart. But in the blink of an eye, a prompt appeared in his mind.
[Materials required to shape Blueprint: Scrap Metal 16, Blade 4, Tape 4, Rubber 3. Materials complete, beginning shaping...] Vince only felt his vision blur for a second as the required materials materialized in the empty air before him. They then all transformed into translucent phantom projections and dove into the energy spear resting on his legs. As the materials poured in, the energy flow within the phantom spear became increasingly violent, and the entire projection grew more and more solid.
Only after all the materials had been completely filled in could the faint outline of a metal spear be seen... The overall texture was vastly different from before. Although it was still shrouded in a layer of phantom projection, he could clearly see that the entire composition of the spear had been completely replaced by metallic materials similar to [Scrap Metal] and [Blade] s.
Even purely on intuition, Vince could tell this thing would be significantly sturdier than the galvanized steel pipe he used previously... [Blueprint shaping complete... Customizable (1/1)...]"I can customize it? Customize..." The instant his mind confirmed the command, Vince finally experienced the sensation Zoe had described... The phantom spear levitating above his legs felt as if it had become a part of his own body—an arm, or perhaps a bizarre, entirely new limb he never had before.
Every single part of it could be expanded, shrunk, twisted, or deformed within a certain limit... However, this morphological shaping was restricted. For example, Vince initially wanted to shape it into a massive, sweeping double-bitted battleaxe. But after flattening the front end of the spear shaft to a certain degree, it refused to widen any further... Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Watching the spear before him gradually morph into an oar under his manipulation, Vince wanted to cry but had no tears... The description says I only get one chance to customize this. Better not screw around with it. I'll experiment later when I have modules to spare.
"Can I reset?" The moment the thought formed, the "oar" reverted back to the shape of a spear...
"Mhm..." Vince recalled the pain points he had experienced while fighting with this spear, visualizing the ideal shape of the spearhead in his mind. It needs edges... And so, it had edges. Under the subconscious manipulation of Vince's mind, the phantom spear began to slowly deform... The original four-sided pyramidal spearhead slowly elongated, while two opposite ridges expanded outward, forming a double-edged blade over twenty centimeters long and five or six centimeters wide.
However, it still retained the other two central ridges of the pyramid running from the tip to the base. This transformed a spearhead previously only capable of thrusting into a devastating weapon capable of cutting, slashing, and armor-piercing. He thickened the base of the spearhead slightly and pulled out two short, claw-like wings on either side—crossguards designed for blunt force strikes, preventing over-penetration, and expanding wounds.
He adjusted the weight distribution to shift the center of gravity forward, then etched an uneven, textured pattern along the shaft, wrapping it with rubber and tape for maximum grip. He also shaped a section of the handle into a slight oval to ensure proper edge alignment when swinging. Finally, he added a solid metal pommel to the butt of the spear as a counterweight.
"Mhm..." Vince looked in satisfaction at the new weapon slowly taking shape before his eyes. Suddenly, another thought struck him...
"Can I increase the weight?" After all, the original spear was completely stuffed full just to reach 30 pounds. But with his Max HP surpassing 600, that weight was starting to feel a bit light. If possible, it was best to make it as heavy as possible without sacrificing agility; after all, greater mass meant greater kinetic energy. [Current weight: 15. 4kg. Increasing weight requires inputting materials. Current requirement to increase by 1kg: Scrap Metal * 1...]"Increase..."
[Current requirement to increase by 1kg: Blade 1...]"Increase... the material requirements change?" He continued adding weight until it reached 20kg. He had pumped in 2 [Scrap Metal], 2 [Blade] s, and 1 [Rubber]. He couldn't increase it any further because... [Current requirement to increase by 1kg: Rare Metal 1...]...
"What the hell is... Rare Metal?" A material he had never seen before had appeared... It seemed there was an upper density limit to simply stuffing in [Scrap Metal] and * [Blade] *s. To increase the weight further, higher-tier materials were required. Unfortunately, even though he had killed quite a few mutated zombies, he hadn't seen a single drop of this "[Rare Metal]"... But 20kg was enough. That was an increase of 10 pounds; it should feel much more substantial in his hands.
"Confirm!" Following Vince's confirmation, the phantom iron spear levitating in mid-air seemed to gain a heartbeat, throbbing violently once. Then, the energy within the entire phantom boiled like rolling water, slowly compressing inward. Vince could even faintly hear a strange humming sound resonating from within the iron spear! The process only lasted a second. When all the glowing halos had retracted and condensed into the spear shaft, the humming sound vanished from his ears.
The spear before him was now only wrapped in a thin, translucent layer of phantom energy... It just levitated there quietly in mid-air. The entire weapon exhibited a deep, dark metallic hue that seemed to absorb light, with only the razor-sharp edges giving off a faint, icy gleam. Vince reached out his hand. The instant his fingertips touched the shaft, the invisible force binding the heavy spear finally dissipated completely. The heavy spear slammed onto his legs.
The spearhead crashed into the roof ledge on his left with a loud CLANG. The razor-sharp blade cleanly shaved off half a chunk of the decorative concrete edge, which plummeted to the ground with a smack, attracting the attention of nearby wandering zombies...
"Good lord..." Fortunately, Vince had quick reflexes and grabbed the shaft. The moment he gripped it, an immense, heavy force transmitted through his arm. Thank goodness he was prepared, otherwise it would have dragged him right off the roof with it... Before Vince could even sit back down properly with the spear in hand, several lines of prompts appeared before his eyes... [Item "Unnamed"] [Durability: 100/100] [Crystal Interface 1: Empty]...
"Oh..." Vince had been wondering. Wasn't the Interface Module supposed to link an object with a Crystal? There wasn't any Crystal involved just now. So this is where it goes...
"Wait? Hold on..."
