Aisha's eyes remained firmly glued on the half elf, who dared to speak with such arrogance to her grandfather, a dragon, the kind of figure who could still kill him. Yes, her grandfather was cautious, but he was still greater than most mortals, even her father could perhaps only scar her grandfather, whereas the dragon would be able to slay the mortals before him. Even then, even if the Iyr currently claimed the half elf, if he grew too powerful, without a doubt they would seal his power, if not much worse.
"Bwahahah!" roared an Iyrman, who had drunk lightly, having given up his duty to his wife that evening. The old man raised his cup, the wooden fingers clasping the cup tightly.
"Do you see? My grandson! My grandson! Bwahahaha!" The old man was the one they knew as the Mad Dog, and out of all those here, he was one of the most terrifying figures. At the very least the half elf seemed able to contain himself, or, if not that much, he was chained by the Iyr, and his wife, but this old fool was one of those. It was his tale, in which he had slain Forgryn, which had made him well known to Ramizash, for there were few who would dare to go against someone like Forgryn. Why?
In the same way that Jarot was only a Grandmaster, and yet considered more dangerous than most Paragons, though Forgryn was still younger, weaker, than most of the dragons within Aswadasad, he was vile and vicious, and that was why he was more feared by most, even among dragons, who had not wished to even face the Azure Terror.
"My grandchildren, the four of you before me, shall go out and cause your trouble, for my blood cannot be denied!" the old Mad Dog had dared to say.
"Four?" Adam replied, side eyeing his grandfather.
"You brat! Do you think I will not grow lonely? Amal, you will remain with this grandfather of yours and take care of him, yes?" Jarot lifted the sleepy Amalrot up, causing her to twitch lightly, and upon seeing the old man's face, she furrowed her brows in annoyance, but forgave him before she held her close to his chest, and the pair cuddled together.
"No, perhaps it is Jurot who will remain behind, for he has the softest heart of all my grandchildren!"
"I definitely have the softest heart," Adam said, sipping the last of his milk.
"Yes," Jurot agreed.
"Hmm…" Jarot side eyed his grandsons, turning to look to Nirot, then to Lanarot, then to little Amalrot, and he thought back to little Jurot, and how much he kept Adam out of trouble, but then, also, how many times he had threatened so many of the Aldishmen for he was an Iyrman who could do so.
"You have not caused enough trouble to claim your heart is not the softest." Jurot blinked.
'Have I not slaughtered enough?' Pam blinked.
'No! Don't do this! Grandfather! Grandfather!' Adam stared at his brother and his wife, doing his best not to burst out into laughter, understanding what Jurot was thinking, because he was an Iyrman, and what Pam was thinking, because she was normal.
'I didn't realise you were so funny, you old geezer.'
"Have you thought of marrying another?" Aisha finally asked, causing Adam to choke and splutter on his milk.
"Even if I defeated you that easily, you shouldn't speak such dangerous words," Adam stated firmly, holding the woman's gaze with cold eyes, the kind which were doing their best to try and keep the half elf alive.
"…"
"To be clear, I am happily married, and I don't want to marry anyone else, because I love my wife, and I don't want anyone else, and if it seems like I gave off a different impression, I am sorry!" Adam continued, his eyes trailing towards his children, especially his sons, who would not forgive him if he dared to covet other women.
His daughters, too, would not allow it, but Jarot and Karot might lose their meekness if he dared to try and marry another woman, and also, if his wife was open to marrying another man, he might have gone around going to find someone to slaughter him in his depression. This story has been stolen from Royal Road.
If you read it on Amazon, please report it"If you wish to marry another, you may," Vonda said, though her lips formed that kind of smile as Adam quickly pulled away, before suddenly wrapping his arms around her.
"Darling! You can't do this to me!" Adam half cried in a desperate whisper, hugging his wife tight in front of everyone, and for once the woman did not shirk away from the obvious display of affection. The way his fingers almost clawed at the woman's shoulders revealed his desperation.
"Mummy, even if daddy is a fool, you should not bully him like this," Jirot said, grumbling sleepily.
"Even if he deserves it, this way, mummy, it is too far."
"It is too far?" Vonda asked.
"Hmm…" Jirot rubbed her eyes.
"Mummy, this is too much."
"If my daughter says it is too far, I will stop."
"En!" The girl confirmed, returning back to Lucy's bosom, having stepped out of slumberland to save her father, for though the girl bullied him gravely, even she knew she could not go too far. Adam continued to hold onto Vonda, his eyes wide, though grateful that even his daughter realised the problem, the half elf leaning in to plant a kiss on his wife's cheek.
"Darling, you can't say anything like that." Vonda leaned in to press her head against his, her eyes taking his own within her sights, not allowing him to pull away. He would not dare to displease her now.
"I'm sorry."
'Damn it,' Aisha thought, for how many daughters would she give up to try and claim this fool. Even if it was only a light connection, couldn't she- Aisha's head snapped to the triplets, the red skinned children, horned so they were, and as her mind raced, her eyes then met the woman's, causing Aisha's eyes to dart down to the food, cutting into the cake. Sonarot continued to hold the woman within her eyes.
Karot turned his head up to his grandmother, the woman holding him within her arms, as little Konarot and Kirot each nestled up to her arms.
"Nana, mummy knows how to bully so well."
"Your mother is also your sister's mother," Sonarot joked. Karot looked over to his younger sister, who was falling deep into slumber slowly, and he blinked.
"Aah." The boy's groan of understanding seemed to suggest that suddenly the entire world clicked to place, as though suddenly he began to understand the truths of the universe.
'Of coas.' Sonarot leaned in to plant a kiss atop his head, the boy's hair tickling her cheeks, and as the conversation continued, with the Iyr threatening the Ash family with the presence of the half elf, they finally showed mercy and slipped away to find a place to sleep properly. Meanwhile Tanagek practised his swordplay into the evening, finding Chosen also training.
Laygak, too, who had managed to claim victory in front of his younger sister and his nieces and nephews, swung his blade through the air, and it was his thoughts which were heaviest, even heavier than the one who had been defeated. Meanwhile, an even heavier thought filled the mind of the dragon. Even if the half elf was much weaker than himself, the mortal held such a great power, to the point one could consider him as threatening as a younger dragon. It was that, however, which filled his mind.
'What is his great power?' Ramizash thought, considering how the three Anomalies seemed so close. There was another, the Blood Knight of Floria, or the Blood Demon of Floria, whose powers seemed to rival this half elf, and perhaps, in some ways, surpassed it, to the point he became a cornerstone of the country's existence.
'To think they also held such a connection,' the dragon thought, for it was he, the Blood Demon of Floria, who had managed to claim the half elf's insane grandfather's leg, though that wound seemed to have lightened over the years.
'I should keep it in mind, just in case.' Meanwhile, under the dark sky, in which the stars twinkled so brightly. Ash lit his pipe, and as he puffed, the smoke dissipated into the air. He stared towards those stars which seemed to be laughing at him with their twinkling. He closed his eyes, letting out a long sigh, he continued to puff his pipe. He was barely able to recall the woman's face, though she recalled her soft touch, though it was so long ago, and he had been so small when he had last felt it.
He opened his eyes, and as he stared at the stars, he wondered if his children would have adored him more if he had treated them the same as that fool of a half elf.
"Father," called a low voice, almost a droning groan.
"It is cold this evening," he said, turning towards his son, who remained hunched, waiting for his father.
"You will get sick."
"I wanted to throw rocks," the fool of a son said. Ash sighed, putting out the smokeleaf within his pipe, and he motioned with his head, taking his son outside the village to throw rocks.
