Scene 06_03. Leaving behind Seung-eun, who showed fierce resistance along with her roughly torn screams, just as Yeon-su was about to move toward Seung-eun's car, someone stabbed Yeon-su's belly long from behind. Yeon-su's body flinched. Yeon-jin, with no time even to wipe the blood, had stabbed Yeon-su from behind and twisted the knife. Yeon-su couldn't bear the pain and dropped to her knees. Yeon-jin: You, SSibal bitch. Nothing but a snot-nosed brat.
Though Yeon-su tried somehow to hold out, unable to withstand the force grinding harder along with Yeon-jin's snarling, she dropped both knees to the ground. At the extreme pain, she couldn't even manage the thought of shaping more black sand. Yeon-su turned her gaze right ahead.
Snapping off the black sand of her own that had bored through Seung-eun's hand, she drove it hard into the top of the foot of Yeon-jin, who'd stabbed the knife from behind, and Yeon-jin dropped the knife and collapsed to the ground as if slumping. Yeon-su, with a pained look, grabbed the knife Yeon-jin had driven into the back of her waist and yanked it out all at once. Laying the grey ash from her pocket onto the wound, she calmed it with a small scream, then wiped the blood that had run from her mouth.
Straightening her knees, she watched the despair of the two fallen women, on guard. Surely, the trace of the Weeping of Immolation still lingered in Yeon-jin. She confirmed the hemp strands still draped around the nape of Yeon-jin's neck. The moment those strands were removed, she was certain the Weeping of Immolation would seize Yeon-jin again. Just as she reckoned that dragging the situation out until then was the only best move, a black cloud that hid the morning sun in an instant loomed. Yeon-su went pale.
A cloud even darker than the one she'd seen at the Black Doctrine a while ago began to cut in. It wasn't only Yeon-su who took fright at the surging clouds. Yeon-jin: SSi … bal …. Leaving the dumbfounded Yeon-jin, Yeon-su ran frantically toward the suddenly-recalled Je-hak. Approaching Je-hak, who'd stayed in the car, in a rush, Yeon-su drew two small 환무(Hwan-mu_Illusion Fog) censers from the bosom of her outer coat and handed them to Je-hak. Yeon-su: Hurry, go back.
On your way, this — Yeon-su made a gesture of striking the center of the censer with her hand. Yeon-su: The smoke that comes out here will hold off that rain. Hurry back. Set it off the moment you arrive. Je-hak: Um, well, but, then — Yeon-su slightly revealed one censer she'd tucked into her own inner bosom. After showing the one remaining censer, as she persuaded Je-hak as if to reassure him, Je-hak nodded with difficulty and drove the mangled police car again, heading for where Ju-hyeon had been.
Yeon-su, without setting off her censer, headed back toward Yeon-jin. Scene 06_04. Si-yeon walked out before the 도깨비(Dokkaebi_Goblin) Gate. In the hand of Si-yeon, who'd volunteered as the bait out front, sat a blade where steely-keen silver and black crossed one another. Heavily made-up Si-yeon came out through the opened gate and stopped dead. Black storm clouds spraying black waterways were flooding in.
The black waterways surging over dry land like a tidal wave were building their force still greater in the rain pouring from the darkly draped clouds. As if the 삼도천(Samdo-cheon_River of the Dead) were flooding, before the surging waterways a great many 통신사(Tongshinsa_Courier)s, 취생(Chwi-saeng_Drunken Wraith)s, and 독각귀(Dok-gak-gwi_One-legged Specter) hordes shaped themselves in an instant and came charging like beasts. Seeing the numbers, Si-yeon cocked one eye as if doubting it. Si-yeon: Ah, SSibal.
That's a shitload of them. She even drew the gun she'd stashed in her thigh. Through the earphone in her ear came Jeong-seon's voice. Jeong-seon: Are there really that many?? Si-yeon: What, you think they're fake? Jeong-seon: How many, then? Si-yeon: Hmm. You know, that time — more than the number that stormed our apartment before. Well, at least these aren't human. Dogs or whatever, anyway they've got the look of beasts. Scene 06_05.

Jeong-in, who'd stayed in the same call group as the two, heard all the news and made a request of Jeong-seon. Jeong-in: The Bishop. Please, call everyone inside. The 지식관 (Jisik-Gwan_Directorate of Knowledge) Special Task Force will draw a veil within the Black Doctrine. Jeong-seon: Understood. Then I'll — Jeong-in: From atop the watchtower, would you help our division's Secret Agent, the Bishop.
She may find it hard to hold out alone. At Jeong-in's request, Jeong-seon stepped out without hesitation. Ye-seung, at Jeong-in's jerk of the chin, shifted position and headed for the Directorate of Knowledge Special Task Force waiting nearby. Si-yeon: If you're gonna do it, do it fast. They're coming like hell. Through the earphones in Jeong-in's and Jeong-seon's ears came Si-yeon's grumbling voice. Scene 06_06. The 장기(Jang-gi_Korean chess) board had drawn a fairly dense formation.
The two green chariots 車 had burrowed into the red-piece camp and were tearing it up. As if she felt it dangerous to go on like this, the hand that pondered a moment moved the red horse 馬, elephant 象, and pawn 卒 set within the green camp, aiming for the green king, and moved a chariot 車 toward the horse 馬 that had been set around the green king. Scene 06_07. Jeong-seon, who'd reached the watchtower in no time, caught her ragged breath and shouted down to Si-yeon below. Jeong-seon: Don't forget!!
Don't go out, stay right here in front. Got it?? Jeong-seon, up in the watchtower, shouted at Si-yeon. Si-yeon nodded roughly. It was so loud with the fierce tidal wave that words couldn't even be heard without shouting. Si-yeon, blade in hand, cracked a light joke. Si-yeon: Still, at least they're not human-shaped, so it's a bit better. One of Si-yeon's eyes dyed black.
Having taken her stance, Si-yeon gripped the slender 은장도(Eun-jang-do_Silver Ornamental Dagger) with both hands and swept the slender blade to the side. Right after shooting a black waterway forward, Si-yeon darted straight ahead and tore through the beasts coming to meet her as if grinding them. Jeong-seon swung both hands and shaped a warped black waterway before the Goblin Gate. The surging black tidal wave crashed hard as if to swallow the Goblin Gate.
When Jeong-seon, unable to withstand the shock, toppled backward, Jeong-in climbed the watchtower fast and swept a great fan as if whirling it. The River of the Dead that had tried to come over the top of the watchtower was pushed back by the wind of Jeong-in's fan. Jeong-seon rose again and, to aid the wind-current of Jeong-in before her, began to push her faltering waterway even more fiercely. The fiercely pouring River of the Dead could no longer cross the gate, locked in a sharp standoff.
In that gap, Si-yeon mercilessly drove her blade-point into the black waterways, beginning to rip apart the surging beast horde. Scene 06_08. Ji-young was catching her ragged breath. Ji-young, who'd fallen face-down, barely raised her body and sat it up, then surveyed for a moment the traces of 그슨대(Geu-seun-dae_Shadow Fiend)s and 독각귀(Dok-gak-gwi_One-legged Specter)s that filled the bustling dawn market.
The moment Ji-young caught her ragged breath and raised her body again, all the underworld things sprawled like traces shattered to pieces with a dull sound. After glancing back at the traces reverted to black water, Ji-young moved her limping steps. As if the poisoning had reached its end, the inner-thigh muscle of Ji-young went numb. Ji-young: Ha, seriously. SSibal, even going off to get kidnapped is fucking bullshit. The train station was not far off. She glanced at the black clouds that had begun to surge.
The darkly pressed clouds soon began to spray black rain. Leaving the overturned cars, a great many police suppression squads lay collapsed, unconscious and without a single wound. Ji-young, who'd been hard-pressed dealing with both the far-flung consciousness and the One-legged Specters, faced the black shower that had begun to fall. The falling black rain was fairly hot. It wasn't pain enough to sear, but it was enough to gnaw at an ordinary life. Even so, it left no great injury on Ji-young.
The only thing that worried her was one thing. The fact that she was heading toward the worst move So-hui had already mentioned. Ji-young bit her lip hard. Ji-young, who let out a great sigh, thrust up her own arm wound with 현사(Hyeon-sa_Black Wire). The black wire holding Ji-young's blood spread in an instant as if bursting, scattering high and wide. Scene 06_09. Yeon-su gritted her teeth. She thumped her chest once and set off the 환무(Hwan-mu_Illusion Fog) censer in her inner pocket.
From the black rain that had begun to pour without cease, countless numbers of 독각귀(Dok-gak-gwi_One-legged Specter)s began to shape. They carried on a mad scampering, loud. When the sound of gruesome bare flesh sticking to the ground drew near, Yeon-su spread 검은 모래(Geomeun-morae_Black Sand). Something was off. The One-legged Specters passed right by the earlier-faced Seung-eun and herself and raced ceaselessly toward Yeon-jin. Surely, they looked to be targeting the hemp hung at Yeon-jin's neck.
Just as the terrified Yeon-jin was about to scamper the way opposite the surging One-legged Specters, Seung-eun, heedless of her own pierced flesh, cut down with her 죽장검(Juk-jang-geom_Bamboo Cane Sword) the head of a One-legged Specter about to pounce on Yeon-jin. The One-legged Specter that had carried a fast scamper tumbled, unable even to cut its speed. Yeon-su hurriedly scattered more black sand and wrapped Yeon-jin and Seung-eun.
When she'd blocked the One-legged Specters from lunging at the two any further, the One-legged Specters rolled their growling glares this way and that and looked at Yeon-su, standing upright. Yeon-su: Ah, Ji-young sis, come a little faster, would you …? Just as Yeon-su, wearing a leering grin, was slyly backing her step away, the One-legged Specter horde, having aimed precisely at what they should aim for, leapt in and lunged at Yeon-su again.
Just as Yeon-su, catching her somewhat ragged breath, was about to ready her dance again, a swaying hemp hem fluttered before Yeon-su's eyes. Scene 06_10. There was one thing that grated. It was the spot of the guard 士 that had taken the seat beside the green king's place. At the end of a moment's pondering, she glanced again at her phone to check the time, then slowly straightened her bent waist. Leaving behind the lingering thought, she lifted the phone that had shown the clock and sent a text message.
-I'll ask you just one more favor. Sorry. - Leaving only a brief explanation that followed the short message, she turned off the screen she'd brought up and examined the 장기(Jang-gi_Korean chess) board again. She moved the one red chariot 車 left on one side and aimed at one of the two green guards 士. The green horse 馬 she'd aimed at was soon bound to fall into her hands. It was in a position to be isolated wherever it went. What worried her most was the two green chariot 車 pieces shaking up the red camp.
To pull out the green chariots 車, she had to aim for the green guard 士. Scene 06_11. The branching roads remained fairly distinct. So-hui, who'd surveyed all the roads on the floor, leaving only a few thick stems, belatedly noticed the clear-draped sunlight, heedless of her weary look. After letting out a great sigh, she cleared away with her brush all the crossed-out letters and the hanji. As if the fine blood vessels had burst, So-hui's eyes were flushed red. The remaining branching roads were just three.
Setting down the three roads of differing destinations, So-hui began again to survey the countless branching roads. So-hui: Wherever it goes, if it's bound to fall through, then it'd honestly be better for them to aim at me right now. So-hui, muttering to herself, lifted her brush and cut away part of the branching roads. When the roads to come had been made to head toward a single destination, So-hui bit her lip hard. So-hui: Ah, but, SSibal. It's gonna hurt like hell, isn't it?
