Chương 108: Father’s Request

Looking back down, I continued reading. Someone killed me, but I didn't die. I have been reborn as various infants over the years. I'm working on creating a better future. Unfortunately, my reincarnations have damaged my soul and restricted my abilities. My rebirth consumed no one's soul. I just replaced what it would have been. Now, this is the last chance I have to set humanity on the right course. Not to be oppressed by other races, but to stand at the pinnacle of the world!
While your mother is strong, do not doubt that other races have Supreme Legends as well that are just as capable, if not more so. For you, none of this matters. I have no expectations or any plans for your future, only my love and encouragement. Your mother would be upset with me if I did anything nefarious. While she has gone on a final descent, if anyone can return, it would be Elena. I have never met a fiercer and prouder woman.
While it is hard to say if we truly loved each other, we respected each other and loved you. For such powerful people as us, that is enough. I have prepared a couple of gifts for graduation, with the Dean's help and agreement. If you take the first spot, you will receive a complete set of equipment. It wasn't cheap, but I had some hidden reserves over the millennia. I used one of these things to pay for a full set of tier 3 equipment. Consider it my gift to help protect you.
I also know you look down on social skills like most other adventurers. My advice is don't. Your mother left her legacy in your hands. Unfortunately, one can't learn social skills through a book. If you ever want to know the path to the most powerful tier 6 social skill, seek me out. I will pass my most powerful skills' legacy onto you. To put it in perspective, it could kill anyone with a single well-timed sentence, even a Supreme Legend.
While not effective against monsters, social skills are far superior to soul skills against the thinking races. People rarely push them to the heights needed to be deadly. The Dark Cabal, the curse upon you, and their Dark Library are a blight upon the world. It was a powerful weapon that helped the High Vostner civilization in the past, but in truth, it is nothing but a curse. They will lie low like rats, and I will hunt them down if I learn of them. Unfortunately, they are good at hiding.
The skills contained within the Dark Library are nothing to scoff at, but there are reasons modern skills and learning methods have triumphed, they are superior. Never doubt that. Even if stuff like divination, curses, blood arts, summoning, rituals, and consumption skills seem powerful, they come with grave risks. I will not give a warning about soul magic. I know you have a tome I wrote, which was given to you by your mother.
I only say that you should be careful, however, you can consider that part of your legacy. But soul magic was always too risky to use properly, that is why social skills are better. You are also free to use my name. I know you will probably want to avoid such a situation, but you are welcome to. Of all my children and disciples, you are the one best suited to carry my legacy forward. If you don't want to, that is fine as well. My tier 6 skill can die with me when that day finally comes.
As for inheriting the Empire, don't worry about such headaches. I know you are like your mother, you enjoy fighting too much to want to rule and establish order. Now I am off to conquer Genoa, then the continent. With Love, Your Father For over a minute, I stared at the long letter. I didn't know what to think. I wanted to curse, but most curses involved the Eldarin Empire, which might seem on point, but made me uneasy. My father was the Eternal Emperor.
I knew he had ambitions to take over the world, but I had clearly underestimated his determination and his history. He even went beyond death itself to continue pursuing his dream. This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author's work. On one hand, I could admire that kind of tenacity. On the other hand, it was just a lot to take in. Did my mother know? She probably did. And if she did, then she did not care? Or did she want the strongest possible person as my father?
It was a lot to take in, and there was no way to get any answers to the countless questions I had. The letter grew hot. I tossed it away as a bunch of runes flared into existence on the letter. It burst into flames, consuming it in a burst of fire. The ash drifted towards the top of my desk and the carpeted floor of my room, leaving nothing else behind. Now there was no proof. People might know my father had ambition, but if they knew he was the Eternal Emperor reborn, everyone would unite to kill him.
Well, maybe not everyone, but much of the sentient beings on the continent. The Dwarves and Elves would probably put aside their differences to kill him. He was the most hated figure in history. The founder of the Eldarin Empire and the purveyor of countless atrocities. He had an immense amount of blood and suffering on his hands, but he had tried to justify it in his letter, saying there were greater threats out there. His fears seemed unfounded, given that the threats hadn't acted in millennia.
I did not know of the Seraphim or the Great Ocean Empire. Demons were supposedly monsters that had gained high intelligence from the dungeon and left it. They often used trickery and stealth skills to blend in with humans. But they never lost their initial purpose, the dungeon had created them to kill other beings. They were the stuff of horror stories told to frighten little kids. My mother had never met a demon herself and had only heard secondhand accounts. That was how rare and careful they were.
Intelligent monsters were incredibly dangerous. Thankfully, born monsters could be tamed, breaking the hold that the dungeon had on them. Ultimately, my father's goals were his own. I was only 12, not old enough to be considered a proper adult. That would happen in just under four years, when I turned 16. I was thinking about this, since I absolutely didn't want to get involved in politics or take over the world or resurrect the Eldarin Empire.
My father might lead a group of legends who tried to seize power, but it was something I planned to avoid altogether. As for his promise of a set of equipment, he clearly knew what I wanted. I knew such a gift wasn't cheap, and I would put it all to good use once I graduated. As for his offer to teach me his tier 6 social skill, I was much more hesitant about that. To kill anyone, even a Supreme Legend, with a single sentence, was insanely powerful.
There were probably heavy restrictions and requirements, but just being able to kill anyone with a single sentence was not something to take lightly. Even though I wasn't a fan of social skills, it was tempting. But I had enough skills to worry about right now. I had foundational runic skills, followed by weapon, resistance, soul, and spell skills, and then my mother's legacy to learn first. There were so many skills I wish I had gained a class that helped me acquire skill levels more quickly.
There were so many that I had to master. The sheer weight of them all was absolutely crushing. Others might try to master one of these skill groups. I had to master them all. Why couldn't my father get me another soul fruit? That way, I could improve my class. My mother hadn't talked about her Tier 6 class. I had questions, but she told me I first needed to become a legend before asking them. She was right, but it was frustrating not knowing what the pinnacle of classes looked like.
Did she have a violet class, or something better? Thinking about my father, I didn't want to know how he was replacing souls. I thought my mother was the oldest among them, but apparently, he was far older, considering the age of his soul and mind. He was still older, even though his body's age was considered average. Looking at the scattered ash, the letter changed nothing. My path had already been chosen. I had to practice and hone my skills. I would have a day of rest before starting the next semester.
Why couldn't my parents be normal? I knew they supported me, but they were exhausting. My mother's lectures and controlling nature are evident. My father's ambitions and craziness. That would cause people to target me going forward. My mother was a force of nature. Getting mad at her and trying to get revenge was like hitting your head against a brick wall. Only the crazy Dark Cabal got away with such an action. But my father didn't have that deterrent factor, and my mother had left.
As he stirred up more trouble, that fact would become more obvious. Although nobody announced her final descent, the news would inevitably leak and spread. The most recent dungeon descent would be the last until I graduate. Leaving the College carried too much risk. Entire nations would target me now to stop my father. Even weakened, he'd crush everyone. It was only a matter of time. I had faith in him. I couldn't help but shake my head and smile.
It would take a long time to master all those skills and to escape the shadows of my parents. My mother might be fiercer, but my father was more adept at causing trouble.
