Chương 518: Update 20.8.26

Hi everyone, I had a very unexpected change of plans today. Less than an hour ago, I finished a Zoom call and signed an agreement to fly to the United States as an interpreter for a five-week workshop attended by several representatives from Israel. This came completely out of nowhere. The interpreter who was originally supposed to go broke his leg and recommended me as his replacement. They contacted me, we worked out the details, and I'm flying out Monday night.

Because this happened so suddenly, the next few days will be chaotic, with me running around like a headless chicken. I have quite a lot to organize before leaving my husband and son to fend for themselves for more than a month. My son is also going back to school in ten days, so there are all the usual preparations, except this time I need to get everything sorted out before I leave. My husband is great, but he's completely clueless when it comes to this stuff because it's always been my job to handle it.

So, yeah... I have a busy few days ahead. As for what this means for the story, the next couple of weeks will probably be the difficult part. I'll spend the next few days here in Israel getting everything organized before flying out Monday night. I'll arrive in the US on Tuesday and will have a day to deal with jet lag, get settled, and hopefully convince my body it's supposed to sleep at a completely different time.

The workshop starts on Wednesday, and the first eight working days, not including the weekend, will be the intensive part. From what I understood from the representative I spoke with, those days consist of around ten hours of study a day, with breaks, of course. Between the long hours and adjusting to the time difference, I don't expect to have much time or energy left for posting during that stretch. You could be reading stolen content. After those first eight working days, however, the schedule changes considerably. The workshop shifts to half-day study followed by practical work, and the Israeli participants won't need an interpreter for most of the practical portion. That should leave me with roughly half a day free, so I expect things to become much easier after that. I'll admit that I'm not particularly happy about disrupting the schedule again.

I try to maintain a predictable three-chapters-a-week schedule because I know many of you follow the story as the chapters come out, and I want you to know when to expect them. Unfortunately, this opportunity landed in my lap without warning, and I didn't want to turn it down. So, for the next couple of weeks, chapters may come out on different days than usual, and there may be some gaps depending on how much free time I manage to find. This isn't a hiatus, though.

I'll still be posting whenever I reasonably can, and once the intensive part of the workshop is over, I should have considerably more time and will work on getting back to the regular schedule.
