Chương 420: Chapter 393. Joining The Battle

As the cart moved closer and closer to the village, loud screams began to change from noises we couldn't make out, to clear commands. Screams about nocking and loosing arrows along with calls to bring up shields filled our ears. I continued to keep a close eye on our trail as we continued pushing forward. Eventually, a voice roused us from our positions." Everyone! Front and center, NOW!" Jessie called for us to get out of the cart, it didn't take long for us to see why.

A battle between 10s of Demons and the Adventurers was happening right in front of us. Jessie quickly drew his sword and began to speak." Ben! Take the cart and get it into the village! Everyone else! Pick a Demon and get to fighting! Don't stop fighting till you die or every Demon is dead! Don't feel bad! They probably have the same orders!" / SWOOSH! / As Jessie finished his commands, his sword lit on fire, and he took off towards the middle of the battlefield.

Luke quickly followed after him, his sword began to glow red. Showing that he's already activated his Mana Blade. Everyone else wasn't too far behind. Lucy's twin daggers were glowing a light-black color as her specific Thief Skills began to take over for her, Laura's mace began to glow a bright, pale-white and gold as they ran side by side with me." Girls! Let's stick together and treat this like a Quest! Ashley! You good to be the Frontliner?"" Of course!"

I channeled my own mana back into my fists and feet as I began to take the lead position of our group. Laura quickly asked me if I would be alright, but as far as I'm concerned, this is just another day at the office. We've faced Monster after Monster, and sparred person after person, sure, these Demons are stronger than Humans and can think, unlike the Monsters we've cut down as Adventurers, but looking at how the last encounter played out, I think we'll be able to make a great difference here and now.

Speaking of which! / CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! / The sounds of metal clashing against metal began to ring out more and more as we joined the fray. Jessie and Luke took off to the left, they're going to join the center of the battle. I could see that the Demons were beginning to make progress in pushing the Humans back.

However, for us, the current objective were the sides of the Humans' lines of defense, there were less Demons, but the people defending against them clearly weren't trying to attack, they were using shields and Support Magic, which sounded like the perfect place to stake our claim on this battle. / CLANG! /" I'm getting sick of your pathetic attempts to-" / Thunk! /" Attempts to kill you? A big, yellow-skinned Demon was attempting to gain ground against a giant metal shield, but Lucy simply used her Thief Skills to sneak behind and stab the Demon in the throat, there's no coming back from that for a Race that suffers from a lack of Magic Users. / SPLAT! / Lucy removed her blade as blood gushed uncontrollably out of the Demon's neck, no doubt in rhythm to his heartbeat. / THOOM! /" AH!"" HUAGH!"" I need more control over Divine Bolt, don't I?"

Laura quickly followed up Lucy's attack with one of her own, a Magic attack that forced 4 Demons to fly away from the force of the explosion." Water Lance!" / BANG! SPLOOSH! /" HUAK!" Jaime followed up quickly with a Water Spell to blast 2 more Demons away from the line up, this only left 2 more who were in the process of turning around, thankfully, this meant they were off-guard as well as off-balance from their surprise!

Once they saw, the person in front of us moved and we quickly ran past him as the sounds of the battle were beginning to intensify.

No doubt Jessie and Luke had joined the battle already, I could swear I could hear multiple mouths saying, "Hero this!" and "Hero That!", the tones of their voices were different compared to the men we just helped, it was like they lost hope and now they've found a new one. I guess Luke is good for that with his Status as a Hero. Maybe we're even helping as Members of the Hero Party? / CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! /" Don't pull back! Hold the line until the end!"" I couldn't help myself after hearing what the Demons were saying, I launched myself across the lines and kicked one of the Demons with my Mana-infused feet. I felt it's skull crack under the weight of the blow.

I landed on the ground and that's when it immediately dawned on me, I was surrounded by multiple strong-looking Demons and my teammates were still behind the line of defense." Uh oh! Uhmm.... It does what it sounds like, it empties my mind of all thoughts, as I focus only on fighting, or in this case...

The Style System of the Monk Class is quite interesting.

Just like how Jaime, as a Mage, has a System of Elemental Magic, like Fire or Water, I have the "Style System" of the Monk Class. At first, I only had 2 Styles, Tiger, which focuses on Speed and dealing damage quickly. And Tortoise Style, which is Defensive and focused on protecting myself and others. I just discovered a 3rd Style before we left on this trip, "Dragon Style", the one I'm currently using. It's similar to Tiger in that it's an Offensive Style, but the big difference is my mana.

Unlike Tortoise and Tiger in the beginning, which are focused on using my physical body over my mana, Dragon incorporates my mana to boost my Attacking Power, because of that, well... Punch! / Thump! Splash! /" Wah! Henry!" The attack is so powerful that I can't control it, my fist went fully through the Demon's face that I punched. Brain matter and blood went flying in all directions. And then the blood began to pour out as I pulled my fist from the hole I made.

I looked at the Demons around me, looks of shock and surprise were plastered on all of their faces. I'm sure it was from a few different things, horror at what they just saw a "tiny Human" do to their friend, grief at the loss of said friend, and rage building within them to avenger their friend. But, unfortunately, that brief moment was all that was needed to completely change the situation. / BOOM! THOOM! Thunk! Thunk! / The 8 or 9 Demons that surrounded me were cleared of the area in one fell swoop.

Some died to a blast of Laura's mana, others to a spear of fire from Jaime and the last 2 were due to Lucy stabbing them in the skulls." Ashley! How many times do I have to tell you to stop running so far ahead!? You could've gotten killed!"

"... Yeah, I did... Sorry about that, Lucy... It's just that I couldn't take it, so the blood rushed to my head..."" Seriously! One day you're going to get really hurt doing that!
