LANCE KLINT He does not know how clothing sizes work, having grown up in poverty. The Maglarck family always bought his clothes for him. During delivery runs, it was typical for him to swim across rivers to save time, and he never fell ill from it. He faced a bear in Sector II, striking it repeatedly in the face and escaping with only a single cut on his own. He will eat almost anything; in his desperation after disappearing, he even ate rats (They were cooked at least).
He has a deep love for cats and small spiders. Jeanne reminds him of a brown cat he used to see at a tram stop. He loves to dress like the gentleman who would arrive in Cael: coats, jackets, the full look. His gynophobia is never fully explained, but it is the trait that makes him tremendously nervous around people of the opposite sex. He does not kill insects, and mosquitoes do not bite him. He grows stressed quickly; the main sources of his anxiety are his own paranoia and his sister.
His courier work helped him build muscle alongside his regular training. He has been in many brawls and has won every single one, mostly by sheer luck. He loves a story about a fisherman he found at a second-hand market, set in the Sol Archipelago and titled Saanpei, as well as another about sorcerers, though he has forgotten its name. If he existed in the real world, he would be a bachelor doctor at twenty-five. He does not eat much and prefers simple food.
Despite his phobia of women, he occasionally stops to stare at their legs since he finds them elegant. His ideal partner is tall, has a beautiful smile, and is intelligent. He suffers from severe insomnia, though it does not prevent him from growing stronger. He hugs whatever is nearby to help himself fall asleep. He sleeps in completely irregular and unusual positions. He has no idea how bras work. He likes opaque stockings. For reasons that remain obscure, he is immune to alcohol. He is not remotely racist...
He simply does not understand racial distinctions. He hates the smell of smoke. He polishes Supplicium every night, afraid that Maverick will come for him. He cares deeply for Rea despite the few interactions they have shared. He greatly admires Maliard after their argument, despite the friction between them at first. He knows the language of Northest because his ability draws from one of its dialects. He is dreadfully shy with people he does not know, yet always ready to help them.
He gets angry if someone leaves food on their plate. In an open sprint, he is the fastest agent in NOIR. followed by Clerc and Jeanne, with Monica in third. His scars appear and disappear depending on fluctuations in his frequency. Jeanne has seen them but has not dared mention it. He suffers from body dysmorphia. Many people find him to be quite attractive. He is secretly passionate about science and art, though nobody knows since he reads late at night. He had no friends before joining NOIR.
For some obscure reason, he knows how to operate most of the agency's vehicles. All of his weapons are based on various Pieces of Latin mythology or drama: Gladiolus, Gloriosus (which are comedies from Plauto and Terence), and Lachesi (which is one of the Three Moirai from the Greek Latin perspective, the one who spins the Thread of life, Cloto is the one who creates and the youngest and fairest, and then there is Atropo who cuts it down.) Supplicium means suffering in Latin, pretty fair for a revolver.
I decided to base him on the famous painter Gustav Klimt. Her sister Jude is based on his biggest masterpiece (for me at least), Juditta I. I wanted to create an MC that was a hypocrite in his choices, but still a somewhat good person, and Lance was right spot on. He is also based on the Philosopher August Comte and has many other influences in his making (but that would be a possible spoiler).
I really like how, after all the rewriting, he walks and interacts, especially after I tried to give him a more mature look. Despite all the possible slander saying I hate Lance, I think he is one of the better characters in Stillore by far. JEANNE GOGHETTE She is exceptionally skilled at any kind of handwork, like painting, crochet, you name it. She can pick any lock. She constantly tries to put her hair in a ponytail to imitate a woman from the brothel where she grew up, but she can never quite manage it.
She always wears loose, baggy clothing because she suffers from an intense disgust toward her own body. She can cook, though only at a basic level. She is afraid of storms. Her favourite scent is lavender. She is secretly afraid of Maliard. During the four months Lance spent in a coma, she spent her time spying on Lucas in the hope he would help her. Lucas noticed and decided to teach her the basics of medicine. She and Monica are like sisters. They even sleep together.
Her measurements are 95–68–99, and she stands 1. 79 metres tall. She and Lance share the same blood type and an unusually compatible frequency. Her athleticism is an even greater mystery than Lance's. Apart from her chest, abdomen, and hips, Jeanne is pure muscle. She may be aware of her own psychotic behaviour but cannot control it. She finds any excuse to get Lance to cook for her. She does not understand the concept of 'just a bite' and has nearly devoured the lunches of others — Noel, notably. She cannot swim.
She can eat nearly 7, 000 calories without gaining weight. She carries a slight resentment toward people from Termie, as her father was one. She is mixed race: born of a soldier who fled Termie and a woman from Andimica. Her hair is permanently dishevelled, though no one tells her because they think it suits her. Her physical strength exceeds both Lance's and Noel's. She adored an adventure story her mother used to read to her at night, called Ratantrugli. She has a scar on her right breast, near the collarbone.
She can dance very well and loves music. No one knows she paints, though Lance suspects she does something when he is resting. Most of NOIR's agents adore her, even Lautre stops drinking when she is around. Every member of Changeant either hates her or fears her, likely because of her second personality. She has an obsession with sugar and sweets in general. Like Lance, she tends to hug things in her sleep. She loves cats. She has a remarkably superior sense of smell and taste.
Sharp enough to identify people by their scent. Lance gives her the sweetest sensation she has ever felt, second only to her mother. She is afraid of most men following an incident that occurred when she was a child. She loves soft things, which leads her to brush or touch the lips and cheeks of others almost without thinking. Lance, Monica, and Rea top her list. Her ability makes her deeply uncomfortable; she is well aware that it can activate entirely at random.
Due to her ability, she can produce excess bodily fluids on command. She is remarkably silent. She has startled Noel, Lucas, and Lance on multiple occasions. Jeanne is quite skilled at chess. Monica considers her to be her rival! (She is the worst member of Noir at playing.) She has been working on a painting since Lance fell into a coma. She suffers from cutaneous hypersensitivity on certain parts of her body, like her hips, buttocks, neck, and abdomen.
If she existed in the real world, she would be a celebrated painter. Her ideal partner is someone who would never leave her. Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author. Jeanne is a character I personally based on Van Gogh (Who would have thought...), so that's why I wanted to give her some quirky traits without resulting in them being cringy. Her syndrome will play a big role in the future arcs and in her development.
The brother's background is, in fact, still a reference to the painter (Jeanne didn't lose an ear, fortunately). She is pretty erotic without it being fan service (a friend of mine said), and I would say that's the thing I wanted to convey with her. Jeanne is a paranoid individual who doesn't understand relationships or close intimacy, so that's why she acts like that when her restraints come off. Basically, she is a flawed Femme-Fatale who still needs to mature and change her ways to live according to her desires.
(Best girl imo!) MONICA NET She is the fourth commander. The last one was her sister, Bluette Oudin. Despite her childish behaviour, Monica is actually extremely emotionally intelligent. She is a brute, being on par with Noel, Lautre, and Lance in strength. Monica is the third-best strategist in NOI (The first being Maverick, and the second place is held in a tie between Lucas and Edvard). When she is serious, she has a somewhat motherly aura.
Her ability is an extremely advanced form of the Starken mutation, being able to alter reality in some cases without being a Verwinder. She does indeed hate the government, except for a certain woman from Machinamentum Despite what they say in her face, a lot of NOIR's personnel like her way of doing things. She has a poster with her motto in her room, saying: "Giving up is for losers, failing is for soon-to-be winners!" Monica almost had Intercourse with the same certain girl for Machinamentum.
She has a horrible sense of fashion, simply putting on whatever she finds. She does try a bit on important occasions. She is the third-fastest agent in a track race without powers. She has a crush on one of NOIR's members in particular. She eats a lot, but strangely, she gains weight (That's only her impression.) She is on the "flatter" side (She gained this complex since she reached puberty.) For this exact reason, she and Arte side together (Only Monica does. Arte does not know of this alliance.) She is extremely chaotic and often leaves her room a mess. She sleeps naked both in summer and winter, finding the concept of a pajama pretty bothersome If she were alive, she would be an athlete She is pretty good with kids Despite being chosen by Cloto, she rarely uses it. Monica is 173cm tall and weighs around 68 kgs. She sucks at cooking, managing to burn even bread. If we rank all the Agents in terms of strength, Monica would be the second strongest, tying with Albert.
Her ability strips her of any form of emotion, making her seem like a shell. Together with Lance, Jeanne, Lucas, and Arte, she is a virgin. Her birthday is on the 1/10. She has somewhat of a fetish for nape. She studies a lot to be a better commander, sometimes even forgetting to sleep. She had a family, but she lost them all during the Great War. Monica is extremely hygienic, often taking three showers a day even in winter. She absulutely detest to be stuck in Dielmon, so she often goes on field missions.
She trains early in the morning or late at night. Monica Net is a disgusting pun on the name Claude Monet (Mo - Nica Net...). She is a really complicated character who will be shown more during the later arc of Act I and in the side story. Monica, despite being cheerful, is a severely depressed individual with a lot of unresolved trauma. To use an expression that she would like, "Her shoes are way too big".
I didn't want her to just be a strong and comic relief character, but to show that even the one who can smile the brightest has to carry a heavier weight than anyone should. But... She is getting glazed a lot and being called a baddie despite being almost a century old, so I'm happy for her! Small addition trivia: Bluette is based on Claude Monet's master, Eugène Boudin (B lu-Ette Ou-din)
